Robyn Hendrix | 19 comments I happened to just buy The Tower, The Zoo, and The Tortoise last week, and it takes place in London so I could also use it for the fascinating country category.

Thanks for the reminder! Crocodile on the Sandbank by Elizabeth Peters was recommended by a friend awhile back and I’d completely forgotten about it. Definitely choosing this one!

message 54: by Shelly (new)

Shelly | 123 comments I will read either Bad Monkey or Bird Box for this one.

message 55: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Mossman | 3 comments I’ve got ‘The trouble with goats and sheep’ which I’ve not managed to get round to reading so might use that

message 58: by Teriyaki (new)

Teriyaki Tofu (teriyakitofu) | 17 comments I'll be reading a feast for crows by George R.R. Martin. I've only read the first book, but I've managed to fit in most of his other books in the prompts!

message 59: by Rachel (new)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 643 comments If anyone is looking for children's' books, I would highly recommend Odd Duck and When Elephant met Giraffe

I loved Ella Minnow Pea.

message 62: by Ethel (new)

Ethel (snugasabuginarug) | 7 comments I’m going with The Eye of the Sheep

One of my favourite books. Can't go wrong with this one.

Personally I think I'll go with Que font les rennes après Noël ?. I need to shape up my game and read more French.

message 64: by Tori (new)

Tori (toribowyer) I'm torn between To Kill a Mockingbird, because I've never read it and it seems to top a lot of Must Read lists, but I also have The Bees by L. Paull which looks amazing!

Sarah | 29 comments Tori wrote: "I'm torn between To Kill a Mockingbird, because I've never read it and it seems to top a lot of Must Read lists, but I also have The Bees by L. Paull which looks amazing!"

The Bees would be a good choice for the allegory category so you could do both.

charlie ₊˚⊹☆ (sharshey) | 13 comments Turtles All The Way Down would be perfect for this!

Kimberley - TardisBookishTales (whovian_reads_books) | 9 comments There’s a couple of books by Tom Clancy with animals in the title - Red Rabbit, The Bear and The Dragon, The Teeth of the Tiger.

message 71: by Crumb (new)

Crumb | 395 comments I'm seeing a lot of insects on this list.. so I'm assuming if there is an insect in the title.. we can use that as well.

I'd like to use Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah for this prompt. Although, there are so many choices! I'm doing a buddy read, though starting on the 1st of the year.. so I think I'm going to use it for this prompt.

Insects are animals, so it would definitely count for this prompt.

message 80: by Hayley (new)

Hayley (hayleyplusbook) I highly, highly recommend Not Forgetting the Whale for this one, such a wonderful book.

message 81: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Moore | 64 comments This is officially my first finished prompt for 2018! Hoping to do a better job tackling the list this year!

The Dog Lover Unit: Lessons in Courage from the World's K9 Cops

It was a good read! She followed canine teams from around the world which I appreciate as an added element of diversity and perspective!

message 82: by Lindi (new)

Lindi (lindimarie) I'm going to re-read To Kill a Mockingbird. I read this originally in an American Lit class in high school, and I don't remember liking it. But that could have to do with it being required reading.

message 83: by Patrícia (new)

Patrícia | 1 comments I'll be reading Cockroaches by Jo Nesbo
It also counts as nordic noir and next book in a series (its the second one)

message 84: by Carol (new)

Carol Roote | 119 comments An older one: Pigs in Heaven by Barbara Kingsolver
Read The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver first for a book with a fruit or vegetable in the title

I’ve heard such good things about The Butterfly Garden and the ebook is on sale for $1.99! This book is high on my list for this category.

message 88: by SadieReadsAgain (new)

SadieReadsAgain (sadiestartsagain) | 767 comments I'm going with Explaining Death To The Dog.

But I can recommend Even the Dogs, and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. I swear it wasn't a conscious thing to have so many dog titled books on my shelves. I also have Swansong and Hens Dancing on my TBR shelves.

Wise decision. The movie wasn't terrible but they definitely didn't do the book justice.

I didn’t love this in high school either but reread it as an adult and ended up crying on my subway commute.

Love, love, LOVE this book! His other books The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove, Coyote Blue and Fluke: Or, I Know Why the Winged Whale Sings would also work here.

I'm really glad to hear that as I'm going with this one as well! And found a copy at the local used bookstore for $2.50! :)

message 96: by Storm (new)

Storm | 60 comments I read The Raven by Poe for this. I know, it's a poem and not a "book" but it's something I always wanted to read

message 98: by Kristin (new)

Kristin (trickpony1820) | 68 comments If I read 100 books this year, 50 of them will probably fit in this category, but this is the first one I read: Two Good Dogs

Or, if you like knocking off multiple categories with one book, this is my book for the sports category: Wallace: The Underdog Who Conquered a Sport, Saved a Marriage, and Championed Pit Bulls-- One Flying Disc at a Time

message 99: by Wayne (new)

Wayne (wayniackc) | 1 comments Here is one I haven't seen listed that's an interesting read:

American Buffalo: In Search of a Lost Icon

It's part history of the Buffalo in America dating back to before European contact through the post Civil War market hunts and beyond, and then part of it is an account of the author's experience on a Buffalo hunt himself up in Alaska.

The Wallace book sounds good. Thanks for the suggestion,
