24. A book with a weather element in the title
I just ordered myself a copy of Snow, Glass, Apples because I'm a spoiled brat. :) I *might* be able to save it for January.Otherwise I'm going to read Thin Air, since I loved Paver's Dark Matter so much!
Would you count Fire as a weather element for this prompt? I was thinking of Little Fires Everywhere
Gravity's Rainbow counts, right? Would you classify a rainbow as a "weather element"? It's a weather byproduct but don't know if it counts as an element of weather. I have to read that book this year so trying to crowbar it into the Popsugar list somewhere!
Does the sun count? Because I have Half of a Yellow Sun and A Thousand Splendid Suns on my bookshelf...

The Scent of Rain and Lightning, The Sound of Rain, The Burning Air, The Girl In The Ice, Ice and Bone: Tracking an Alaskan Serial Killer, In Cold Blood, Cold Cold Heart, A Cold Dark Place, Cold Killing

I would disagree. Forest fires are considered natural phenomena (and recently natural disasters) and for certain areas they are part of the "weather". While I don't want to live in a world where fires are as frequent as say the rain in England, I don't think frequency should be the main criteria for whether something is considered part of the weather.
I just finished Book of Clouds, and can recommend it for those who like contemporary literary fiction that doesn't have a clear plot. It would also tick off a prompt for double-dippers who are "fascinated" with Germany, and with Berlin in particular. (I read it during a recent trip, and probably liked the book more because I was in the city while I was reading it... It's really a fantastic portrait of Berlin.)

Well, here in L.A., we don't consider them weather, but a natural disaster, and we certainly don't look to the evening news seeking them on the day's forecast. : )
They're a natural element and I've yet to teach my students that fire's a weather element, lol. Weather conditions help cause them, however.
The Hurricane SistersA Breath of Snow and Ashes
Gone with the Wind
History of the Rain
Instructions for a Heatwave
I might read Boy, Snow, Bird for this one. There's also:
Hello, Sunshine
Snow Crash
The Snow Child
Snow
Snowdrops
The Shadow of the Wind
The Wind in the Willows
Heather wrote: "Does the sun count as a weather element?"Personally, I'd say yes. Based on other comments, it looks like other people will be considering sun and moon as weather elements.

I agree. Fire, while natural, isn't a weather element.

I agree with Jackie.. California unfortunately has been having some terrible forest fires.. Therefore, I'd consider that to be a weather element.
I haven't seen anyone mention this.. and this is going to be my choice for this prompt. It looks really good, and I've always love Diane Chamberlain. Before the Storm by Diane Chamberlain
Are we counting the seasons here? The Summer That Melted Everything has been sitting on my shelf for ages, I'd love a reason to crack it open.
I haven't read it since I was a young teenager but I remember greatly enjoying The Wind Singer. A MG/YA dystopian fantasy. Can also do double duty for the twins one too as the main characters are twins!
Are earthquakes considered elements of weather? Considering The Great Quake: How the Biggest Earthquake in North America Changed Our Understanding of the Planet by Henry Fountain.
I know it is has been mentioned multiple times above, but I highly recommend The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. It is one of my favorite reads. (I won't cheat myself and read it again though.)The Art of Racing in the Rain and The Lightning Thief are both on my larger to-read list, so I'll probably choose one of those.
A Killing Frost by John Marsden… technically I am read The Third Day, The Frost but it’s called The Killing Frost in other parts of the world.
You could always read The Snowman by Jo Nesbo and if you’ve seen the movie already it can count as two prompts.
I am going with Under the Tuscan Sun, and if not that then I also own all of V.C. Andrew's books and might use one of those.
Tasja wrote: "Does 'Strange Weather' by Joe Hill count?"I asked this same question a while ago and no one ever answered it. I decided that it’s my challenge so yes it does and it’s what I’m reading for it.
I'm glad others are going with sun. A Thousand Splendid Suns is it. I liked The Kite Runner so I'm looking forward to this one.
Karen wrote: "I have been meaning to read Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson (sci-fi, cyberpunk genre), so might as well use it for this prompt!"I chose this one as well! I thought of it immediately when I saw the prompt.
Olga wrote: "Sunshine by Robin McKinley - for fans of vampires in literature and novels with baking. I know it sounds like a weird blend, but it's great."This is my FAVORITE vampire book EVER!!!!!!! I've read it and listened to the audiobook more times than I can say.
