I think I'm going to need to increase my rating for TNOTW. I think I only gave it 2 or 3 stars. I'll increase it to 3 if it isn't there. I feel like this book won't be much different from that, but it's already hooking me more. To be fair though we are only at the start. I remember in the first book being frustrated when (view spoiler)[Kvothe maages to be the best at everything, but that scene in the Eolian when he played the simple song changing into the hard one, I was amused. Such a show-off, and I think that's why I don't like Kvothe as a character (way too arrogant) but it is playful. (hide spoiler)] Really hope Ambrose shows up in this one :p

Okay so I have an incredibly difficult goal with this book: finish it by Sunday 5pm. I need to do this because it works for a challenge, and that deadline is Sunday 5pm. I could pick up another book for the challenge, but I just really want to finally be able to focus on this one, so I'm taking this opportunity to focus to death haha. At least I just finished an assignment for one class and a test for another. Now just got an essay to focus on due on the 4th, so I'm getting started on that today so I don't die XD

Chapter 11 (view spoiler)[Yay we got some 'negotiating' with Devi (holy shit imagine being offered basically 4x what was needed, and turning it down just because of a friend! I'm not sure I'd do that. I wasn't sure what I expected from him though) as long as some quick thinking from the admissions process. And now he's finally gotten his entry back into the Archives thanks to Elodin! (P.S. I love the name of his class, and how there's only one space :p Seems promising though!) (hide spoiler)]

At least there's a lot of events in this book. And they all seem to have their own start and end, they don't really bleed into each other, which makes them memorable.

Chapter 14 (view spoiler)[Man Elodin's class would make me crazy! 50 hours looking for those books, one book that wasn't even heard of, all for a class that Elodin didn't attend! At least they all have lessons behind them.

If I remember correctly, wasn't it due to the fact that he couldn't meet her when they had arranged to and so she disappeared and Kvothe found the note in his room at the inn too late? I can't remember if they saw each other again after that though.

I find it interesting that it is Kvothe's arrogance that makes you not like him, when for me it is what makes him who he is and a great character!

Ah right, so there's no proper reunion? No idea how they can just pick up and they're just both automatically on the same page.

Bleh I hate defiant smart-aleck main characters. I just want a normal passive girl like myself who I can actually relate to. I mean, yeah his arrogance and haughtiness does make the story interesting, but I just really dislike him as a person.

I think that's what stops me liking her! To her it's all normal and fun and Kvothe doesn't seem to be bothered by it either which is frustrating!

I think his arrogance really added to the story in chapter 6 when (view spoiler)[ he made the extremely difficult song seem so effortless, as it brings back the Ambrose and patron storyline so it isn't just left in the last book with no real solution. (hide spoiler)]

Yeah, while it's super clear that they both just really like each other! I don't think I ever realised he was only 15 XD

(view spoiler)[Well yeah with his performance it made it entertaining but he's such a show-off. I hate people like that in real life, just the attention the need in order to live, yet he's lived before with no money. (hide spoiler)]

One thing I also don't understand is (view spoiler)[how he is super rich and then super poor consistently, like it's something you can count on. Why doesn't he just save his freaking money rather than being so impulsive!! At least he doesn't tell his friends, otherwise he'd just keep getting money from them and he'd never learn. But the fact that he has learnt and he still doesn't take it into account when he spends all of his money.. (hide spoiler)]

You liking the book so far? I'll only be reading a little bit today, because I have class for the next 3.5 hours, and I got a new game last night that I'm going to play for around an hour until work. Don't wanna go to work today bleh. And then I also need to work some more on my essay, so I'll only read for around 20min on my break.

Yeah, I'm enjoying it right now, i'm hoping it's as good as the first one but we'll see. How are you finding it? That's fine, it gives me time to catch up as this is the first chance I've really had to read for a longer period of time!

I also just actually assumed she was a patron for him! Wait, this is the person from the Eolian right? The lady in the really fancy dress and gloves? (hide spoiler)]

Yeah I'm liking it much more than Book 1. TNOTW was more background, and this one just gets right into it. It's still not the kind of story I was expecting when I picked up TNOTW but it's alright. I was expecting more magic and fantasy, rather than idk magical realism in a way?

I'm pleased that I'm picking this book up when I have a little bit of time. And I'm actually wanting to, rather than just browsing the internet.

Chapter 7 - (view spoiler)[ yes the fancy lady from the Eolian. I just thought it was slightly odd how she was acting and when he first smelt the plum, it raised my suspicions. I was pretty certain when she ran out crying though, maybe I'm just more of a suspicious person haha! (hide spoiler)]

However I agree about the class seeming so frustrating, as all that work for the teacher to not even attend and set a deliberately impossible list for them to read from. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 18 - (view spoiler)[ I really dislike Denna, I don't like how she was persuading Kvothe, Wil and Sim to show her what they learn at the University, they told her that they could get whipped for showing her but she still persisted which is so infuriating to me. And then she got all vulnerable and told him how she can't ever do anything right, and how she just wants someone to love her. This could be good progress if only Kvothe takes the lead for a change instead of being so passive. (hide spoiler)]
