I have decided to read Dark Places by Gillian Flynn. It is set in Kansas, USA. I'm not as much interested in the setting as I'm in reading more of Flynn's work.

I second the suggestion of Americanah for Nigeria! I really enjoyed it though it may have helped that I was visiting at the time. Barack Obama just recommended A Grain of Wheat by Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o for Kenya.

Since I'm already reading this for the Read Harder 2018 Challenge, I'm going to use The Bear and the Nightingale for this task and using it as well for the 'book with animal in a title' task.
