MountainKat | 31598 comments Let's reflect on the best and worst of the previous month's books.....

I know I can get so focused on what is next that I forget about all the wonderful books I read for the previous month's challenges! Wait a minute, just WAIT A MINUTE!! How is it November? I cannot be the only person with whiplash wondering where October went! OK, anyway, fall seems to be finally taking hold - even as it gives over a little to winter in places - here in SoCal, we are grateful for every little drop of precipitation we get. Are you enjoying some nice fall weather? Crisp nights with a fire is one of my favorite reading times, what is yours?

Did you discover some gems last month? DNF a few? Find your new book boyfriend or a heroine who personifies TSTL? Come on, we all want to know! What were your standouts for October? Anything exciting planned for November?

PS - Do NOT even get me started on the time change... Just remember to change your clocks if you need to.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Just starting to warm up over here, although this morning was a tad chilly at 50F (10c). Expecting summer to hit with a vengeance very soon...

My big win in October was definitely Murder of Crows Murder of Crows (The Others, #2) by Anne Bishop . Loved it and the narration, and really looking forward to the next book in the series.

Honourable mentions were Until You, How To Save A Life and The Downs.

lorii (Loriidae) I am slowly working my way through Jane Yellowrock, one of those series that I don't want to read too fast because I will get caught up and then have to wait. 5 star reads:
Blood Trade (Jane Yellowrock, #6) by Faith Hunter and Black Arts (Jane Yellowrock, #7) by Faith Hunter

I also finally finished out the first arc of the Psy-changeling series. Four stars not really stand out.
Shards of Hope (Psy-Changeling, #14) by Nalini Singh and Allegiance of Honor (Psy-Changeling #15) by Nalini Singh

Most disappointing On the Chase (Rocky Mountain K9 Unit, #2) by Katie Ruggle after the build up from #1 which was truly wonderful.

Robin (robinmy) I had three 5-Star books in October!
Make Her Pay (Bullet Catcher, #8) by Roxanne St. Claire Dark Debt (Chicagoland Vampires, #11) by Chloe Neill The Black Box (Harry Bosch, #18; Harry Bosch Universe, #24) by Michael Connelly

I also rated one 4.5 Stars.
Secret Desires of a Gentleman (Girl Bachelors, #3) by Laura Lee Guhrke

No bad books in October.

MountainKat | 31598 comments Oops, I never commented! I had two 5 Star books last month - Tempting Fate by Pamela Clare and When I Need You by Lorelei James. Both are favorite authors, in fact I'm pretty sure I've rated all of Pamela Clare's work 5 stars! I can't wait for more in both series. =)

The best of the rest includes Celebrity in Death, Ryker, The Shameless Hour and Romancing Mister Bridgerton! No really duds for me in October, that makes for a very good month!

~Teresa | 352 comments In October I was evidently on some kind of a murder/thriller/ suspense binge!

I had three that I gave 5 Stars ... 1) Speak No Evil by Allison Brennan 2) Heart of Evil by author Heather Graham and 3) Dead of Night: Dancers in the Dark / The Devil's Footprints, two books with one by Charlaine Harris and the other by Amanda Stevens.

Fran | 12278 comments My favorite read from October was Fall Out (SEALs Undone, #1) by Zoe York and my least favorite was Her Dirty Professor by Penny Wylder . Nothing spectacular in October but nothing horrible. Just one or two good reads and one or two that were just eh.
