There are actually picture books with audio. Ask your librarian where they keep them at your library.

A few years ago I listened to James and the Giant Peach without book in hand. It was singularly uninspiring. Once I looked through the book and could equate the story and the pictures, I like it quite a bit. And wrote a note to self: Do not do audio books for picture books.
Hey everyone,
Linda is right, we do have picture books that come with a CD so you can listen to the book. Ask at your local library where they are.
We also have ePicture Books through Tumblebooks. You'll need your library card to access them, but they'll read you the story. Once you've logged on, click on the Story Books tab.

The thing I noticed about the illustrations was the color palette. Red, in various shades, is very dominant. Blue, orange, and gray are close behind.

The illustrations are quite beautiful and I really like that, within neither the story nor the illustrations, the cats never behave like anything other than a regular cat. Even the Storm-Cat is exquisitely portrayed.
Guys, your books sound super fun. I recently read I'd Really Like to Eat a Child and Anansi and the Moss-Covered Rock. Some of my favorites.

The illustrations of women's clothing were colorful and detailed, beautiful to look at but not to wear. Amelia was a suffragette in the mid 1800's. She met and befriended Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Elizabeth's friend wore ankle length pantaloons under a shin length skirt, without the extra 20+ lbs. of petticoats, hoop, and corset. Amelia copied and sewed up the outfit, then disseminated it through the newspaper she owned and ran. Even though she was still covered neck to toe it was scandalous, and 'bloomers' became a derogatory term for women's rights activists. The style caught on, though, and influenced women's fashion through the 1920's.

Be Quiet! and The Legend of Rock Paper Scissors. I chose these because they were Goodreads Choice awards books.

I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving! Remember, only one more week to get your challenge finished. :D

Beautiful picture.

Mo Willems is a genius.

My kids LOVE Life on Mars!

Beautiful picture."
I had to read this based on your review. Beautiful.

My kids LOVE Life on Mars!"
My mom sent my kids a couple of signed John Agee books a long time ago when he visited her school. They're all cute.
Debbie is our prize drawing winner for November 2017’s reading challenge. She read The Mousehole Cat by Antonia Barber.

To get you excited for Picture Book Month, our November challenge is to read a picture book. Either reread a favorite, or find something new. Let me know in the comments what book you've read and what you think of the illustrations.
Picture Book Month is an international literacy initiative that celebrates the print picture book during the month of November. Check out www.picturebookmonth.com for more info.
