Tessa | 1761 comments Can someone post how to have a link by picture that doesn't end up the size of a monster?

message 4: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments Um no???

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments You can specify the size of a picture. Is that what you're asking?

image: "<"img src="https://www.goodreads.com/image..." width="40" height="100" alt="description"/">" (Width must be 0-400, Height must be 0-1000, alt is a description of the image. All three are optional, but recommended.)

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Obviously, no quotes around the < and >

I just did this with gifs and used what Fabi posted to adjust the size. I had to play with it a few times to keep it in the right ratio though.

Nay (4ukcats) This is something I use every day, and at first, I just happened upon it. You can manipulate the 'Get a Copy' section under the blurb of each book page.

If you go into your account settings (like where you'd change the photo for your avatar), you can go across the top and click on "book links".

First, you'll see:

Kindle eBook Button
Show or hide the buy button if a Kindle edition exists for a book.
Kindle eBook Button -- hide
(if this button reads 'show' instead of 'hide', you can click on it and any time you're on a book page and looking at the kindle version, the kindle price of that book on Amazon will be shown here--It will also show if it's available for free with KU, which I LOVE because I know right away if it's a KU book without having to check Amazon--if it reads 'hide', you're already seeing the prices--you just have to make sure you're viewing the kindle edition of the book to see the prices.)

From this page, you can also manipulate which book links (places where you can get a copy of the book) you see in the 'Get a Copy' section on each book page and also the order they're shown in. That way, if you buy a lot of books at Barnes and Noble, for instance, you can have a link to that shown.

**You can also get to this page if you click on the 'stores' button under 'Get a Copy' and then click on 'customize order'.

Thanks😘

message 10: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments I've been wanting to mention this website i came across. www.novel99.com.

There are a lot of books loaded there which can be read for free. I don't mention it often because I feel bad for the authors. But right at the top of the list is Maybe In Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid.......

message 11: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments And there Jean is a bloody fantastic book.

message 12: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments Ok, so how do you even add the picture of the book. 🙈🙈🙈

message 13: by Lisa (last edited Nov 07, 2017 02:09PM) (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Right above this comment box is an add book/author link. Click on that, then search by either book or author...find the book you are looking for in the list, at the bottom of that window that pops up, you can select either link or cover, If you choose cover, you'll see the book appear. Click add, and you are on your way!!!

Kooloo | 596 comments Sorry guys I'm making a new list of What to Read post-Drive and also updating what i have already read in the past few years... since I only started using GR last month! lol

message 15: by Kooloo (new)

Kooloo | 596 comments Does anyone know how to add books you read years ago so they don't populate the News Feed and piss everyone off?!?

message 16: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments If you go into your account settings, feeds, then uncheck "add a book to your shelves" and save - that should prevent everything you add from showing in your feed. When you are done updating you can go back and recheck it.

message 17: by Grey (new)

Grey | 2385 comments Mod
that part only seems to work if you go into your browser... not if you're using the app on your phone though. learned that the hard way... 🙃

message 18: by Grey (new)

Grey | 2385 comments Mod
kindle unlimited subscriptions on Groupon right now!!! 2 months for free!!!

message 19: by Kooloo (new)

Kooloo | 596 comments Got it thanks 🙏

message 20: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Goodreads app is bad! I never use it or mobile version of site.

message 21: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments *jaw drops* I wonder if it'll work on already started subscriptions?

message 22: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments IT DOES!!!

message 23: by Kooloo (new)

Kooloo | 596 comments Tessa so it extends the yearly subscription by another 2 months??

message 24: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Yes, but in my case, my subscription is monthly, but yep! Awesome, right? :)

message 25: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) Yeah Leslie I agree. The GR app on my phone is pretty lame. I much prefer to access the site on my laptop. Only use it on the phone if I have to when I'm away, but it's tricky to use and limiting.

message 26: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) When I get on GR on my phone, I just go to the desktop mode and zoom in on whatever I'm doing. I HATE the mobile version. Same with Amazon, Maryses's site, etc. I can't stand not seeing everything.

message 27: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Same. I don't use the app. I don't use FB's app either. Both sucks compared to just desktop.

message 28: by Kooloo (new)

Kooloo | 596 comments Thank you! KRB Fangirls Group & Amy Fox – TECH Support

HOW TO POST A GIF ON GR:

There are a couple ways to do it. Most people use PHOTOBUCKET.

* make a photobucket account.
* Search for your photo.
* Click on it
* Click on HTML code.
* Now back at your post. Paste it.
* easy as that

You can practice here.

Kooloo | 596 comments HOW TO POST A GIF CONT'D - By Amy Fox

Second way to do it.

* find a gif (most likely on tumblr).
* right click it and copy -> "copy image url"
* use code (found above the box under (some html is ok) <*img src="http://www.goodreads.com/image..." width="40" height="100" alt="description"/*>

I used * in the example HTML but don't use it when you make your gif otherwise it won't work. I had to do it that way to make it show in this thread.

I also take the width and height numbers. Then it will automatically set the gif width and height for you. But if you want you can play with those numbers to make it the size you want.

Example:
<*img src="http://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-conten..." width="" height="" alt="description"/*>

Practice making gifs in this thread. :)

message 30: by Kooloo (new)

Kooloo | 596 comments HOW TO CREATE SPOILER TAGS:

I used * in the example spoiler below but don't use it when you make your spoiler otherwise it won't work. I had to do it that way to make it show in this thread.

Example:
<*spoiler> I love Goodreads! <*/spoiler>

message 31: by Kooloo (new)

Kooloo | 596 comments To figure out if you have duplicate books listed:
(by Amy Fox)

*click on 'MyBooks' (top of your goodreads page)
* scroll on the left side if the page until you get to 'Find Duplicates' (under tools)
* click on 'Find Duplicates'

If you have any duplicates it will list them there. Check both duplicate copies before you delete one to make sure you don't delete your "review".

message 32: by Kooloo (new)

Kooloo | 596 comments Adding books recommended to you:
(by Amy Fox)

To figure out how to add the person who recommended the book to you:
*go to the book page of the book recommended to you
* click on "want to read" under the book cover
* then hit refresh on the book page
* it should show that you have a 'review' now
* click on 'edit' review
* on the bottom of your review there is "more options" click on it
*there will be an option to put in the name of the person who recommended the book to you.

I know it looks like a lot of instructions but it's really easy and fast.

Jan (jan130) Thank you! *hugs Kooloo*

Tessa | 1761 comments Anyone know if there is a way to save lists? There have been a few that contain major catnip, but I don't always remember what they are. Right now, I found a goodie, and just want to keep it for further reference.

message 35: by Paula (new)

Paula White | 800 comments You can like a list then see the lists you like - not seen a way you can save them

message 36: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Okay, anyone want to share with how you post a link that's pretty such as:

Lisa's Pick For Me List

Rather than:

https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

I know there is a way - and I did it once, but I'll be damned if I namember how!!!

message 37: by Paula (last edited Dec 27, 2017 11:18AM) (new)

Paula White | 800 comments Like this?

That's because every time I try to copy the instructions it puts itself in a link grrrr

Holy crap, I think I did it. Can't believe it was that simple, Paula!!

message 42: by Paula (new)

Paula White | 800 comments Lol! I was swearing as everytime I tried to copy and paste it linked itself

message 43: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments This is the list I was looking at. https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

I see these and know there are a ton on there I'll love. Heck, on this one, I read 23 of the first 30, and one of the 7 is a repeat. :) That's why I keep wanting to find a way to save them.

message 44: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments Can someone tell me when I want to add to a comment my iPad takes me straight to the app and I can’t log through the website? I can add a comment at the bottom of the page. But not to what it relates to. If that makes sense?

message 45: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments The problem is, you have the app. I did for a little bit, but it would drive me nuts by doing that, so I got rid of the app. Honestly, I find the app isn't as good as the actual website, so I haven't missed it at all.

message 46: by Kooloo (new)

Kooloo | 596 comments At the top of the page it will ask you if you want to a Open In The App you need to click no BUT you need to close the goodreads page first and the web browser to start from the beginning.

You will need to do this each time you close the GR page or your browser which can get annoying 😤

So I would just delete the App from your Table. It’s a very shite App anyway and I only use it on my phone cause the font is bigger in the App

message 47: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Yeah, I agree. I just go to the website on Chrome (or Safari). Forget the app!

message 48: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments The app sucks!!! I hate it. 😠

message 49: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments So do use the emails as notifications there are messages. As on the app. It shows in red numbers. I use it on an iPad. I don’t use a lap top. All are apple.

message 50: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments I deleted the App and it worked.🙌🍾
Thanks girls. How do you check the notifications? Email? Or is there another way?
