Jo (allweatherreader) Hello! I'm Jo, it's my first year also. I'm on a three year book ban (started beginning of November) because we're planning a big, cross-country move in a few years time and I don't want to take my monstrous tbr pile with me (if I'm going to pay for my books to travel 400 miles, I at least want to know they're ones I like!). Not sure which peak I'm going to aim for yet but I'll be here.

message 102: by Jen (new)

Jen Hi there, I'm Jen. I took part a couple of years back and it helped me to shift some of my mountain, which has rebounded (significantly) since then. I'm going to start with the Mount Blanc goal and see where things go from there.

message 103: by Petra (new)

Petra | 57 comments Hey guys my name is Petra and this is the first time I'll participate in this challenge (also first challenge ever if I don't count goodreads challenge). I have 180 unread books that I bought over the years, especially this november because there is big book fair in my town every year and I go a little crazy :)
I wish you all good luck with this challenge and hope you like every book you read

message 104: by Mikayla (new)

Mikayla Peekaboo everyone! This is my first time attempting after discovering this awesome group via one of my besties! I think this is a lovely idea, especially the “owning” caveat. I know for a fact that my current shelves are feeling neglected and abandoned as I keep bounding after newer and shinier toys. Happy Travels everyone!!!

I am the exact same way! I also need to finish any series I start. That is my second goal for the year.

message 106: by Amy (new)

Amy | 73 comments Hi fellow climbers! I just finished my 2017 climb up Mount Blanc and have decided to climb again in 2018. My TBR pile has easily doubled this past year and I *really* want to read what I own. I plan to start again at Mount Blanc and then see where the year takes me. Happy Reading! - Amy

message 107: by Gaby (new)

Gaby (gabypen) Hi everyone! I just found this group, and I'm so glad I did! I've been looking for something to encourage me to read the books that I currently own instead of incessantly buying them, and Mount TBR 2018 fits the bill perfectly. Now I can finally get to the books that I know I'll love. Look forward to seeing all of your progress too!

message 108: by Sam (new)

Sam (woohoobooks) Hi everyone! I had been planning my own challenge to read my physical TBR books in 2018 and I was so excited to stumble upon this group full of people with that exact same goal! I really want to get to a point where I can immediately read books right after I buy them or I can go to the library and check out a handful of books to read right away without feeling guilty about ignoring my own books. I am already so much enjoying seeing everyone's posts about their goals and how they did in previous years and I can't wait to get started! Good luck everyone!

message 109: by Jessika (new)

Jessika (jessika_56) Welcome, everyone! Lots of newbies this year, that's great!! I'm getting excited to start! I've basically written off 2017... :( lol

message 110: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley Cornwell | 8 comments Hello from the Windy City! This is my first year participating and I'm delighted to be a member. My stack of TBR is out of control, and I look forward to whittling the stack. My goal is to tackle 48!

message 111: by Sandra (last edited Dec 25, 2017 01:01PM) (new)

Sandra (sandra72) | 23 comments Hi there everyone! My name is Sandra and I’m from Montreal. I have 300+ books on my TBR that I own but have not yet read. I’m hoping that by joining this challenge it will force me to read what I own. I’m setting my sights on Mt. Vancouver (at 36 books) because I know that I won’t be able to say no to my library visits 😜

message 112: by Lacey (new)

Lacey (chasingom) | 1 comments Hi everyone! My name is Lacey and I live in West Virginia. Luckily there's a used bookstore in town that buys books for credit, so my 2018 goal is to only buy new books when I have enough credit from trading in my read books! Unfortunately, I find new books through Litsy and the "All the Books" podcast all the time, so my TBR is always growing, but for my Mount TBR challenge, I'll focus on the TBR that's physically on my shelves (or in my Kindle). 💙

message 113: by Camilla (new)

Camilla Hi fellow climbers! I'm Camilla from Finland, this is my second year climbing. I still need to finish two books to reach Mt. Olympus this year, will continue with the same aim next year. I have something around 200 physical books unread, plus over 4,000 on my kindle, so I will not be running out of peaks to climb any year soon.

message 114: by Kspenmoll (new)

Kspenmoll | 49 comments My name is Katherine, (kspenmoll) I am new to this challenge & although I have had an account, have not entered TBR books in ages- that will be chsllenge enough! I am a slow reader but need to tackle my ever growing, overwhelming TBR mountain!

message 115: by Jennifer (last edited Dec 27, 2017 01:53AM) (new)

Jennifer T. (jent998) Hi my name is Jennifer, I’m from Florida. This is my first year completing this challenge and I’m looking forward to checking some books off by TBR list this year! But I have to admit for every book I finish two more get added to my pile😁.

message 116: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (dgrachel) | 60 comments Mount TBR and Goodreads are my primary challenges this year. I was appalled by the poor ratio of pre-2017 TBR books to Total Books Read that I achieved this year, so I have a plan and I've drawn out bujo pages to help me visualize my goal of reading at least two TBR books to every one new-to-2018 book that I read. I must say that I'm very grateful pre-ordered books count as TBR books, as I have at least half a dozen books pre-ordered already and I don't want to have to wait to read them. :) I'm looking forward to succeeded with this year's climb!

message 117: by Nadia (new)

Nadia (heartlesstree) | 10 comments Hi!

My name is Nadia and this is my third time participating (I conquered some mountains back in 2014 and 2015). Very excited to join in! I didn't read as much as I wanted to in 2017, so I'm hoping 2018 is a better reading year for me.

Good luck to everyone!

message 118: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (abosarge) | 20 comments Hi all! This is my first year joining the Mount TBR group.

I have a tendency to focus on library books before the mountain of books I own (while, of course, still buying books). I’d like to make better progress on my owned TBR this year by ascending Mount Blanc.

Nice to meet you all!

message 119: by Maggie (new)

Maggie Burns (maggie4483) | 5 comments Hi!

I'm Maggie, and I needed a reading challenge that let me just focus on reading the MANY books I already own. Hopefully this combined with a book-buying ban will help me catch up a little.

Good luck!

Margie (Bookzombie) (bookzombie08) | 7 comments Hi, I'm Margie. This is my first year participating in Mount TBR. I have a tendency to choose library books over books I own so I'm hoping that this will push me to read what I have. I'm going to start with Mount Blanc (24) and then move up if needed. Good luck, everyone!

message 121: by Pam (new)

Pam Lauman | 7 comments Hi, I'm Pam. I successfully completed Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2017 and Mt. Ararat in 2016 but still have way too many books. My goal for this year is to read and discard 60 print books and 15 digital books. Fingers crossed!

message 122: by Mani (new)

Mani (manisbookcorner) | 33 comments Hi all. My name is Mani. I have been on Goodreads since July 2017, but have only recently joined up to groups. I have so many TBR books on my shelf and kindle that I can't actually remember which ones I have so hoping this group will help me reduce them.

Currently in the process of swapping kindle books from the old one to my new kindle, so have managed to find and add some of the titles to my TBR jar for random picking in 2018.

Good luck to everyone on reducing their TBR pile. Happy reading!!!

message 123: by [deleted user] (new)

After sifting through all my owned TBR's I found this challenge and can't wait to make a dent in my 225 unread books.
I'll be doing some re-reads as my reading plan is to binge whole series in a single go rather than picking up the first then flitting to the second and the third etc later in the year.

message 124: by Sam (new)

Sam (Sassyowlreads) (sassyowlreads) Hello! My name is Sam and pretty excited to cross as many books as possible off of my TBR. I haven't decided how many my goal will be but I did also want to leave a link here for anyone who is interested in a new group/reading challenge I have created.

https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

I decided to make this group for readers who want to be motivated to focus on reading more PAGES instead of books. Personally, I skipped a lot of the longer books on my shelves this year because I got so caught up in the number of books craze. So I'm looking forward to letting that go and striving to just read as many pages as I can.

Happy Reading!

message 125: by Mark (new)

Mark Dennington | 16 comments Hi all, I'm Mark and this will be my first Goodreads challenge! Too many books have sat unread on my shelves for too long. I picked up a big reading bug midway through 2017, and I'm still feeling it, so now is the time to reduce that pile.

Phillip J. O'Brien | 25 comments Hi All,
My name is Phillip and this is my first time taking the Mount TBR Reading Challenge.
I will be taking the Mount Ararat Challenge - 48 from my TBR pile which will include reading for leisure and reading for my business (continuous professional development).
I look forward to the challenge!

message 127: by Katharine (new)

Katharine (kathyh256) | 29 comments Hi Everyone,
My name is Katharine and this is my second year taking this challenge. I made it up Pike's Peak and Mont Blanc in 2017 so I'm starting small again and aiming for Pike's Peak and seeing how far I get.
I need to do this challenge even more than last year as I've inherited a large number of books from my mum who died last year so I'm reading to clear my floor!
Happy reading and good luck everybody.

Maggie Burns (maggie4483) | 5 comments Hi All!

My name is Maggie, and this is my first time participating (someone mentioned Mount TBR on Litsy, and I was intrigued). Starting with 12, but hopefully I’ll be able to bump that up.

So excited!
