What did you read for this category?Sparky!
Which sin did you choose? Sloth (it's a children's book about a sloth named Sparky)
What are you reading for this category?Dark Money: The Hidden History of the Billionaires Behind the Rise of the Radical Right by Jane Mayer
Which sin did you choose?
I started it thinking it was greed. I ended it realizing it's really all of them. One of the most frightening books I have read in a long time.
What are you reading for this category?I read On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan
- Which sin did you choose?
The book, though in a rather repressed modernist fashion, hinges on the protagonist's lust (for his newlywed wife, but also in advance and as the cause of their marriage).
Do you think The Last Kingdom by Bernard Cornwell will fit this prompt? Because is almost like A Game of Thrones, but real, and has a lot of Greed, pride, envy and definitely wrath.
- What are you reading for this category?Kushiel's Chosen .
- Which sin did you choose?
- I admit that I'm kind of burnt out on reading challenges, doing 3 this year. I picked a book I just wanted to read. The main character is a courtesan, so that deals with lust. There was also treason against the crown for the sake of pride, and the wrath of a sea goddess. I'm counting it.
I'm reading King Leopold's Ghost. The cover calls it "a story of greed, terror, and heroism in Colonial Africa."
I recently read Bannerless and was looking to see if I could fit it in any of my open prompts- I think it works here. The theme is that people should only grow or have what they need to live so as not to exhaust the Earth's resources. The MC is an Investigator and investigates complaints of people having too much or working more land then they need.I think that would make the content greed related- right?

Greed or maybe even gluttony
Greed or maybe even gluttony
does anyone know about a book where the seven deadly sins are actually IN the book? like personification or demons or some sort of disease or smth? thanks

There is a list of books there that people are using for this prompt ( Books mentioned in this topic). Maybe there is something in there that would work for you?

yep. the only one that seems to be a little fitting is the "seven ways we lie" but it's ya contemporary and the characters still are not the sins itself. i was thinking more of smth like Fullmetal Alchemist (which i am so not reading 27 volumes of right now) where there are actual characters of Lust, Gluttony etc or like... there was an episode on Charmed where there was a box (almost like a pandora box) and inside it were orbs that contained the sins and when the box was opened the sins possessed people and made them give in into the sin they got more and more until finally killing them.
so i'm looking for smth where sins are an actual part of the story
Hmmm...I have no ideas?? Good luck with your search.I had never heard of Full Metal alchemist, but I remember that episode of Charmed :-)
Angela, the first thing that came to mind was the movie Seven. Apparently a writer turned the movie into a book (interesting direction). It doesn't have a ton of reviews but would definitely fit what you're looking for. Seven

What are you reading for this category?Oblomov, by Ivan Goncharov
Which sin did you choose?
Sloth, ha ha
- What are you reading for this category?I read The Secret History by Donna Tartt
- Which sin did you choose?
I dare say you can find all seven in this book about a group of privileged, enebriated college kids who kill a friend (not a spoiler, we get this information on page one).
I am planning on reading The Paris Architect but I am beginning to doubt it really fills the prompt. It is about an architect during WWII who agrees to build a hiding place for a wealthy Jewish man for a great deal of money. The architect needs the money. Is that the same as greed? I could stretch it to say it is an example of wrath because of the Nazis. I am just not sure.
What are you reading for this category? The Wrath and the Dawn
Which sin did you choose?
Wrath. This was a let down. Very generic YA book.
For this topic I read Markus Zusak's new book Bridge of Clay because I'm going to see him talk about it in a few weeks. It's really about grief, but there's a lot of wrath as a result.
For this one I chose A Confederacy of Dunces. Sloth and gluttony are the leading sins in this book, but there is also some wrath and gluttony mixed in. I loved this book.
I ended up reading Trick or Deceit, a murder mystery, for this one. I needed a Halloween book for Popsugar and this fits the bill. It was pretty mediocre as a cozy mystery so I don't think I'll bother reading more from that author. Sins featured include wrath, greed, lust, and sloth (in the form of not wanting to do work).
I'm currently reading The Blue Book by James Levine. I choose lust because this is a story about a child prostitute.
For this prompt, I’m reading “In Cold Blood” by Truman Capote. The sin is the sin of greed, since that’s what lead to the robbery and murders.
I'm considering East of Eden for this one - given that it's based on Cain & Abel, I'm guessing there's envy and wrath in there, but can anyone who's actually finished it tell me if it's a genuine, tangible link?
Jody - in EoE there is definitely wrath and envy, and quite a bit of pride as well. I think it would work well for this prompt, and it’s very good!
I ended up going with Othello for this one - with the deadly sin being envy. I've been wanting to read this one for ages!
- What are you reading for this category? Evidence of the Affair- Which sin did you choose? I am pretty sure this will cover lust, pride and maybe envy and wrath.
I'm re-reading Nimona for this one. I needed something quick and fun to read, and I think this one fits quite well with a mix of pride and envy.
