I don't have a tittle yet (Anna's Story)

I awoke as the vehicle came to a stop. Still in blindfolds we were led out of the vehicle. The smell overtook me. It was the strongest and best scent ever. It reminded me of the plant I had when I was younger, but more. I took one last sniff of the air before I was pushed through some sort of doorway. Where am I? I thought.
After a few more minutes our blindfolds and gags are removed. “Hello Anna and Luke” the Man said. “Welcome to your new home!” I looked around the room. It was a small room with a single light hanging overhead. “Where… where are we? That smell outside, what was that?” I asked still soaking in what had happened. It seems we’ve traded one crazy tyrant ruler, for another crazy man. “Shush, don’t speak unless you’ve been spoken to!” he yells. “Ember will be in in a minute” he said and left the room, I heard the door lock with a click. Whose Ember?
I got my answer a few minutes later when the boy from earlier came in with a plate of food. “Well…. Let’s eat!” he said way to cheerfully that seemed way to cheerful for a boy who had just finished kidnapping us! I sit there in silence as Ember realizes why we aren’t digging in, they hadn't removed the rope on on wrists. “Oh… I guess I could get that, but I warn you I’m a lot stronger than I look so no funny business.” I thought I caught a glimpse of sadness in his eyes, but when I looked again, it wasn’t there. He untied Anna and I and we at the sad lunch of mystery meat and stale bread. “So…………. why did your dad want us?” I asked after I had finished my share of lunch. “I can’t tell you” he said softly. He rose abruptly, grabbed the empty tray, and walked out, clicking the lock back in place.
“This is all very strange Luke. I’m scared” Anna spoke with a quiver. “We’re going to be fine Anna, we just need to get a way out.” Of course I’m still freaking out on the inside. As I sat on the ground fidgeting with my thumbs, Anna noticed something. “Luke, I know this sounds impossible, but you’re moving the dirt!” She’s looking at me like I’ve sprouted feathers, and when I look down I realize I am moving the dirt. As I move my fingers this way and that, the dirt seems to move with them. “ This is freaking me out!” I say. Which was probably not the best thing to say to calm down your sister, but I don’t know what to say I’m moving the ground without touching it. “Your… your… your like him!” Anna screams loudly. Very loudly. Loud enough that Ember comes bursting through the door at like 100 mile per hour! “What’s going on in here?” It better not be something stupid.” Anna looks at me, I realize I’m still holding the dirt a few inches off of the ground. I drop it as fast as I could Ember is staring at me. He takes out a phone and dials a number “Woah dude, you’ve got to get down here! Luke’s got it!” he screams into the phone. In seconds Hans, was here. I cowered in the corner, half afraid of what the man would do, and half afraid of what I could do. “How…. what…. What am I?” I ask. “You are a perfectly fine human being, you just have a special talent” “and? What’s the use of the power now if I can’t use it because I’m stuck in this...this place!” I’m really getting ticked off by this guy now. “Why of course you can use your power! That’s the whole reason I brought you here!” He smiled “I figured one of you would have a power, especially since your mother was in charge of the project!”
“What project?” I ask, even more confused now.
“Oh honey the whole reason your mother went into debt was for this big project. She proposed the idea to the king, and he agreed to lend her the money, if he got most of the profit.” He said, completely dodging the question I had asked.
“But what was the project about?” I asked, not willing to give up.
“You.” he replied. “Me? What about me?” “Your mother is the reason you and Ember have your powers. My guess is that Anna also has powers, but they just haven’t shown up yet.”
I stare back at him in disbelief “my mother….. She was the one who made me… who made me a m-monster?”
“No! You are not a monster! You are still human, it’s perfectly fine!”
“Why did she do this?”
“Your mother… she supported the king. She wanted so badly to be part of court, she risked your lives messing with genetics.”
“My mother supported the king? That no good man who ruled more like a ruthless dictator?” All of this new information was overwhelming me. “Then how did Ember get his power?” I asked.
“Your mother was a close friend of mine, she convinced me to let her try my son too, and I’m still ashamed with my choice. Now I get to make it up every day by doing what I do.”
“What kidnapping poor hopeless kids, scaring us half to death, then locking us into a cramped smelly room is making up for your poor decision?” Anna startles us all. “No, protecting you from them. I had to make it look like you went unwillingly so they won’t look into it further. As far as I know they think Hans Halber is a no good thief that they haven’t been able to catch. Course now they probably know Ember…. But that’s besides the point.”
“ That still doesn’t explain why you left us half alive in this smelly room with no explanation!” Anna retorted.
“I… well … look, I had to make sure you wouldn’t try and escape. I didn’t want you to run out in the middle of the woods and get lost.”
“Who says we can’t just escape now?” Anna asked
“Look I’m telling you, I’m the good guy here, you can believe me or not, but I’m not going to let you escape. Ember, why don’t you take them to their actual room now. They’ve just got a lot of information, they are bound to need to rest.” He says and briskly walks away.

I still feel a little at odds, but I go along without struggling.
“Anna, you’re just going to hurt yourself struggling against me now” Ember says while holding onto Anna.
“Chill Anna” I whisper. She stares at me, furry in her eyes, but she stops struggling. Ember leads us up some stairs that I’m fairly certain were straining to hold our weight. I glance around and the hallway give me the vibe of old castle. Ember makes a sharp turn right and slams us into a wall. “What-” He puts a hand over my mouth. “There are eyes and ears everywhere” he whispers. Looking around before he continues “we need to get out of here, my dad, he’s just going to turn us over.” He stops to look around again “He tried to turn me in before, but the king refused unless he got all three of us.” My mouth opens and I’m about to say something, but he slams us up against the wall again, and we watch fearfully as a person passes by. Ember sighs after the person passed by. “We have to leave now, but we have to have a plan. This place is an old abandoned castle, so we can escape by the servant’s stairs. We need to leave now, because he’s probably realized that I told you guys.
We hear a yell behind us “Castle on lockdown, look for those children, your job depends on it!”
“Yup thought so, let’s go!” Ember whispered. We made our way towards the stairs, and headed down them, as fast as our feet could take us.
We made it out the stairway “Hey you! Stop right there!” a voice sounds from behind us “There they are!” another shout sounds.
We don’t stop to turn around to see them. “We need to split up” Ember said. I swerve to the right, Anna towards the left and Ember straight ahead. I kept running as fast as I could, not looking where I was going. I stumble on a rock and fall face first onto the ground. A stiff hand grabs me from behind.
“Luke!” Anna screams.
“Keep going Anna! Save yourself!” I scream, before I black out.
I wake up by a poke to my stomach. “Wake up brat!” someone slaps me in the face. I moan. “That’s right. Feel the pain!” he shouts in my face. “ You know I was this close to getting in favor with the king again!” he says anger flashing through his eyes. “You had to go mess it up, just like your mother. You know she wasn’t the only one who wanted a place in the court. She lied to us you know, I was her partner. She said that it didn’t work! Then the king demanded the money back. Now I’m living in this broken down castle with a bunch of thugs because I paid my half of the debt back!” “I’m sorry sir, but what does this have to do with me?” I say struggling with the restraints. “You were my ticket to get back in favor with the king!” “So you lied when you said they thought you were just a thief!” “Well duh! Everything was a lie! I don’t do this to get back, and I definitely didn’t let her test on my son. I don’t even have a son!” “So who is Ember?” “Ember’s not my son, he’s your older brother, now be quiet or I’ll slap you again!” I had an older brother? Since when? And more importantly what’s going to happen now? I thought to myself.
“What do you want? A gold star? Go out and get the other two losers NOW!” Hans yelled at the person who had caught me. The man walked hurriedly towards the door. “Yes sir!”
Hans smirks at me. “You know I could have plenty of fun with you” he sneered.
“I don’t care” I say back bravely “You can’t kill me, because you have to turn us in to the king.” I instantly regretted speaking. “True, it’s a shame, but I’m sure I could pass some of it as part of the struggle.” He laughed. I keep my mouth shut.
Suddenly the door opens, and Anna and Ember appear. I groan. “Oh good you caught those brats.” Hans looks for the person who caught them, no one to be found. “I can for my brother” Anna said. As Ember untied my restraints. “Run” he whispers in my ear, and then also takes off. “You won’t make it far, you’re too slow” laughed Hans. “We’ll see about that” this time Ember laughed. We took of running. We were closing in on the exit, that of course, was blocked by one of Han’s minions. “Not so fast” he laughed. I watched as Anna threw up her hands in defeat. “I give up.” she motioned for us to do the same. Not sure what she was doing, but Ember and I both did the same. I watched in amazement as the guy moved away from the door to grab Anna, leaving an opening. Ember and I both run for the door. Anna joined right behind us. “Nice trick sis” I yelled. “We’re not in the clear yet!” Anna yelled. As I ran an arrow whizzed past me. “What?” I turn to see a few people aiming at me from the roof. “They sure are putting up a fight!” Ember commented. We kept running. As I turn to see how far behind the others are I see an arrow heading right towards me. “LUKE!!!!!!!!” Anna screams and holds out her hand to block the arrow. Instead of going through Anna’s hand as it should have, it bounced right off. I stare at her. More arrows are bouncing away after hitting some sort of invisible force field. “Anna! You saved me! That’s your power! You can make a forcefield!” Anna’s hand came down. “What?” she blinks up at me. “You have a power! Anna you created a forcefield!” She looks back down at her hands. “I did that? I really did!” “Well hate to break it to you, but we still need to keep moving!” “Oh… yeah” she said. We keep running, and soon enough we’ve run far enough away we can’t hear the shouts or see the palace any more. We stop to take a break. “Whoa” I say, just realizing our surroundings. “What is this place?” I’ve never seen anything as green. “ It’s a forest full of trees!” Ember says.
I look around, they sure don’t look like the type of trees I’ve seen before. They make those trees look like twigs. “Can we just stay here and never leave?” Anna asked. “Well we sort of have to make some more distance between here and there. We obviously can’t return to the city, what with all three of us being wanted and all.” Ember replies. As we walk at a steady pace, I take in the scene. There are large trees of lush green in color, and colorful flowers dot the ground. The trees are alive with squirrels and birds moving about. We keep walking till it starts to get dark. “We should stop for tonight” I say. “Well I’d like to be further away than this, but I guess it’ll be fine.” Ember replied. “Maybe we should climb a tree and sleep in its branches or something just in case.” Anna said, eying a tree nearby. “That sounds like a good middle” I say. Once we all climb up we fall asleep pretty quickly.

I awake to a sound “They’ve gotta be here somewhere.” the voice said. I freeze they’re looking for us. “Maybe they climbed a tree or something to hide.” Another one said. “Yeah that’s probably what they did” I look at the others, Ember sits up “HEY LUKE GOOD MORNING HOW YOU DOING!” Ember yells. I reach out to put a hand over his mouth, realizing too late that i’m in a tree. I crash through the branches, birds and squirrels alike scattering as I fall. Thump I land on the ground. “Hey they’re in that tree! The guy yells. I sit up, and stand wobbly, almost falling but someone grabbed me from behind “I got you this time.” The man said. As I struggle in his arms, a thought dawned on me, maybe I could move a branch so it would hit his head. I reach my hand out. The branch was moving now. It was heading straight towards his head- until I lose focus. Ember was struggling with another man and Anna was just barely holding her ground. Bam! The branch hits me in the head. “You thought you’d use your little tricks on me boy, did you?” He laughed “Guess you lost your focus.” My head was too woozy to try anything else I fell limp in his arms. He carried me away from the fight, towards a truck that had apparently been their transportation. Just as he was about to throw me in, he fell. Ember stood behind him. “Thanks bro, guess I wasn’t strong enough to do that myself” I said, picking up the stick that had hit the man’s head. As I watch as Anna fought two guys at once, I don’t know wether to be embarrassed by her being able to fight harder than me, or to be proud of my little sister. Either way I wasn’t going to let her fight alone. Easily, we defeated the remaining two, leaving them knocked out cold. “We should take the truck so we can move faster” Anna suggested. Sure enough the keys were still in the ignition. “Quick question. Do any of you know how to drive?” Anna asked. “Well I saw my dad drive once or twice.” Ember said softly. I cringe, I still haven’t told him yet. Ember opens the door to the truck and hops in. Anna and I share the other seat up front. “Hmmm” Ember looks at all the buttons and handles. Ember stomps his foot on the floor. “WOAH” Anna screams as we almost run into a tree. “Apparently that was the go pedal” I laugh. Ember turned the wheel a bit, and we were going. “STOP STOP STOP!!!!!!!!!” Anna yells as we almost hit another tree. “You wanna try it?” Ember says. “No thanks! Just be careful… AAAHH!!!” “Anna chill out, let Ember focus!” “Okay I’ll stop freaking out when he keeps hurtling us towards death!” She screams. “I’m trying Anna, it’s not as easy as it looked.” He turns back to the wheel. The ride is bumpy, but much smoother than before. Pretty soon the trees start getting thicker and thicker and much closer to each other. Ember slowed the truck down to weave through the trees. Boom! The truck sputtered to a stop. “What happened?” I ask. “I don’t know, but I don’t think the truck will work anymore. Guess we’ll have to start walking” Ember said. “How far do we have to run? Are we just going to be on the run forever?” Anna whined. “I don’t know Anna, they’ll never stop looking for us, so we’ll just have to run as far as we can.” I said. This shouldn’t be how our lives should have gone. Normal kids would be in school learning who knows what, and after they would run home carefree to their parents. No fearing for their lives, no living on their wits. No looking over your shoulder to see if someone’s following you. But here we are living on the run, because of our mother. “Luke you coming?” I shake the thought off of me, and run to catch up with them. I hear a loud sort of growling sound, and I freeze. Bears are in forests right? “Luke stop looking like you’ve seen death, that was your stomach idiot” Ember laughed. “Oh. Yeah. Totally, great.” “Anybody see anything to eats?” Asked Anna. “Because now that we’re done running for our lives, I’m kind of hungry.” I scan the surroundings looking for some sort of berry or plant but have no luck.

Finally after a few minutes, I spot one little bush almost covered up by some vines. There were only a few little scrawny berries, but it was better than nothing. I reached down to grab the berries, and I was blinded by a bright light. “Wha-” Before I could finish the sentence, something heavy fell on top of me. I heard a voice say “Where, where are we?” I felt the weight come off of me. “Woah!” I say standing up. “Watch where you’re going!” I yell. I turn to see two figures staring at me. They looked very strange. They didn’t have horns! “AHHH!” The girl screamed. “Are we dead?” The guy asked. “Of course we’re dead! There are devils right in front of us!” The girl screamed. “Devils what are those?” I ask. “We’re human, what are you?” “No you’re not, humans don’t have horns!” “Hate to break it to you, but we’re still on the run. We can’t fight with these people.” Ember said. Turning to them he added “You can either run with us or wait for them to catch you and do who knows what.” “Wait… who is them?” The girl asked. “You don’t want to know”
Anna replied. “By the way Luke, I grabbed the berries for you.” Anna said handing me some of the berries. “Sorry for all of them people being rude, my name is Anna.” Anna stuck out her hand for them to shake. “My name is Grace” the girl replied. “And I’m Dew” the other horn-less human said. “I’m Luke, and that’s Ember” I say. “We’re on the run from the king, who wants to force us to use our powers for his good.” Anna said. “ Lucky for us we have a president.” Grace replied. “Hey is that your truck?” Dew asked pointing to the truck further in the distance. “Yeah, but it’s broken.” I reply. “Let me check it out, I might be able to fix it. Dew walked over to the truck and lifted up the hood. I saw him wiggle a few things. He walked back over to us. “Good as new! It was just a loose hose.” “Well I guess we could use it....” Anna trailed off. “Hey Dew, can you drive?” Anna asked. “Yeah sure, I learned how to last year!” He replied. So it was settled. Dew would drive, and we would sit in the other two seats. We fastened our seat belts and Drew began to drive. “You drive a lot better than Ember!” Anna Commented. “Hey! That’s not my fault. I never learned to drive.” Ember retorted. “I’m for one still confused on how you even got here.” I said. “I dunno, we were just walking down the street and all of a sudden we weren't!” Dew said. “It felt like a big rush of power or something. We were there, then we were here.” “Hmmmmmmmmm” I could tell Ember was thinking. “Well my dad did say something about a portal he was searching for. He said it only opens like once every 100 years or something. I wasn’t really paying attention at the time. I thought it was just one of his stories he liked to tell.

“Woah… ummm look out behind you!” Anna screams. I turn around to see a car hurtling straight towards us. “Dew, drive towards the right!” I direct him. The car does the same thing. “I think they are following us.” Grace says softly. I start to panic. “Dew speed up!” “I can’t Luke, if I go any faster than this, I’ll end up running into a tree!” “Well do something!” I scream. “Luke calm down.” Anna said, “The worst is they’re following us, and we’ll keep going.” Ember added. “Umm… hate to break it to you, but we’re almost out of gas!” Dew says. “What are we going to do!” I scream. But before anyone could reply, the car following us sped up, and smashed into the truck. “Ahhhh!” Anna screamed. Dew slammed on the breaks. Both cars came to a stop. “Is everyone okay?” Dew asked. I hear a groan from the back. It was Anna. I unbuckle quickly and turn towards her. The glass from the back window was shattered, shards of glass everywhere. We were lucky we were in a truck, or all of us would have been crushed. Before I could reach out to her, the car door opened, and I was slammed to the ground. “Please! Please!” I beg. “Just let me help my sister! I’ll do whatever you want after! Please.” The gruff voice replied “You'll do whatever we want regardless, so shut your mouth.” I open my mouth to talk, but the man slapped me. “No talking.” I was stood up, and marched briskly to a third car I hadn't even seen before. I was thrown in the back, and was handcuffed to the seat. Besides me were Dew, Ember, and Grace. Ember was pretty bloody. I could see a piece of glass still stuck in him. “Sir there's-” “What did I say?” I shut my mouth. Seconds later Anna was shoved in. It was crowded. There were five people in a seat meant for three. Anna, Grace and Ember looked pretty bad. Ember’s arm was cut deep and was dripping blood. He was losing blood very fast. Anna looked at me with fear in her eyes. “Sir! They are bleeding!” The car came to a jarring stop. “I don’t know what you don’t understand about keeping your mouth shut! We’re almost there, we’ll get them fixed there! Now no more fussing!” I close my mouth, wondering where there is. I watch out the window as trees grew thinner, and houses grew thicker. The castle became closer and closer as I realized this was the destination. This whole running was for nothing.

The car drove over the open drawbridge. I shudder. This was the very place I have feared since I was young. The image of the greedy king sitting on his giant throne, pointing fingers deciding who got to live and who didn’t. I never imagined what the dungeon would have looked like. I never imagined the smell, or the crowding, the begging of the prisoners. I never imagined any of this, of course I never thought I would end up here. I definitely wasn’t prepared for what I saw. As the guards were more or less dragging us to our cell, we heard crying, screaming and begging. Fortunately we were important enough to warrant our own special cell. As soon as we stepped into this room, I got a splitting headache. “Ahhhhhh” Anna screamed. “I see the steel barricade against your powers is working a little too good.” One of the guards laughed as he locked the door. All I could feel was pain. The headache started out small, but soon it was spreading all throughout me. My arms started to hurt, then my legs. The pain was excruciating. I could see Anna and Ember going through the same pain. Ember’s pain seemed more bearable though. “My dad used me to test the steels efficiency to block powers. So I’m used to it.” Our life was awful, but I could never even imagine what Ember must have gone through with his supposed father. I had to tell him. “Ember.” I gritted my teeth through the pain. “Hans isn't your dad.” “Of course he is!” Ember replied. “He’s a liar, and a jerk, but he isn’t your dad Ember. You're my brother.” I managed to get that out before Anna collapsed in the corner. I run over to her “Anna! Anna come on!” I shake her. “She’s passed out” Ember yells. I run for the door. I slam into it as hard as I can. “Help, help please! Anna passed out. Help!” I hear a shuffle outside the door. “This better be true, or there will be big trouble. Stand back from the door!” I stagger back towards the corner, and Ember follows suit. The door opens. “Please! Please help her!” The guards grunt. “Phs why should we help? I’m sure the king would completely understand a casualty down in this disease pit.” The guard smirked. “Please! Please!” I beg. “She’s my sister, she’s only 12! Help her please!” I cry. The guards drag Anna out of the room. I collapse on the floor. The pain excruciating, and growing worse. It’s almost unbearable. “Luke, look at me.” Dew orders. “Anna is going to be okay, and so are we. We just have to find a way to cope.” We sit there for awhile in silence, and then I drift off to sleep.

I wake up to the sound of the door opening. I sit up, hopeful that Anna is back, but she’s not. The person staring at me isn’t like anyone I’ve seen before. Her dark blue eyes were shining.
“These were the test subjects we were discussing earlier, princess” Hans said appearing behind the girl. The girl couldn’t have been older than us, though she looked a lot more shelter than us. She was looking at us with fear in her eyes, as if she believed that we would jump out and eat her. “Excuse me? I don’t believe we agreed to any of this!” Ember yelled, before the effects of the steel cause him to collapse. “But sir, I believe you said they were here willingly. Aren’t you at least a little bit concerned about their health, considering that one of them is already in immediate danger of dying. I gasp “You… you said you would help her! And yeah, what about us? We’re in pain too!” “Listen mis princess, if any of this information comes out of your mouth, you can assure that this agreement will fall out, and this is the last chance for your precious little kingdom that can’t survive without us.” The king laughed when the princess gasped. “This is an outrage, we would have never agreed of we had known any of this. I’ll make sure to notify everyone about this little secret of yours. We’ll find another way!” The princess retorted. And with that she walked out the door. Or tried to. “No way am I letting you run free if you’re just going to blab your mouth. You’ll just have to stay in here.” The king grinned. “Bu… wha?” the princess responded. The king left without another word locking the door behind him. “My father will be hearing about this!” The princess called after him.
“Well that’s that” she said. “We’ll just have to escape.” The princess said, as if it would be that simple.
Ember lifts his chained hands. “I don’t know how you’ll get these off of us, but I’m game for that. All this steel is really giving me a headache.”
“How dare he!” The princess said. “That man doesn’t know what place this puts him in. Hmph. They sure won’t be pleased to find out about this.” The princess shook her head.
“Now that you’re done complaining will you graace us with your name?” Ember asked.
“Oh yeah, I’m Princess Amber from Notherndale.” She replied.
I was pretty sure that I’ve heard of that place before. “I’m sure it’s better than where we are right now.” I comment.
“Well princess Amber, how exactly do you propose we get out of here in one piece?” Dew asked.
“And don’t tell me we’re leaving without Anna.” I add.
“You guys don’t have any ideas whatsoever?” Amber asked clearly surprised.
“Well lets see. Two of us are in chains, two of us are humans and have no powers whatsoever, and one is somewhere probably dieing, and on top of that we have no clue where we are, or where even we could escape to.” Grace said irritated.
“There’s got to be a way out.” Ember whined.
“Well…” Dew said staring intesenely at the door.
“What do you mean Dew?”
“You really don’t see it?” He replied.
“Just a reminder my head is currently pounding, I’m freaking out because my sister may or may not be dead, and I’m starving. So yeah I really don’t see it.” I snap.

“Hurry Anna!” I whisper as I watch the guards get closer and closer leaving us little room for escape. I stuff the remains of this morning’s breakfast in my pack. I scan the remainder of our meager possessions, and make a quick decision “forget the rest, we need to run now!” I yell as Anna is frantically grabbing her pack.
“Where are those little brats?” one grunts
“Well they're gonna be caught at some point” another one joined in. “their parent’s debt to our king doesn’t just magically disappear, even when they die. If the children can’t pay it, they’ll just have to pay in service.”
The four disperse and start looking around. I motion for Anna to hide and stay still. I remain frozen. As a guard comes closer to the table I’m hiding under, I have the sudden need to sneeze. ACHOO! Immediately all eyes were on me. There were six guards in total. This did not look good at all.
The six of them pointed their blasters at me. “ Put your hands up and don’t move!” one ordered. I prayed to God that Anna would have enough sense to stay hidden, and put my hands up. This is it. I thought. This is how all the running and hiding and hunger ends, this is it. Boy do I need a miracle now.
Boom! There was the sound of breaking glass from behind me, and thinking it was Anna, I groaned.
“ I don’t think so kingsmen” a gruff voice chuckled. “They’re going with me and there’s nothing you can do about it!” Trembling with fear I turned towards the voice to see a tall man with a gruff beard. The guards move towards him. He was clearly more of a threat than me, a scrawny teenage boy who hasn’t eaten right in over a year.
“Hans Halber, you will be a great addition to our haul” One of them snarls.
Hans chuckles “ Fine, fine” he says lifting his hands as in defeat. “ Shoot at me” he smirked. The guards lift their blasters, but as they were about to shoot, all of the locks clicked back in place.
A figure stepped out from the shadows “ Hmm I always knew telekinesis would be useful somehow.” He strode right past the circle of guards, and offered a hand to my sister, who was still trembling in the corner. The guards started to raise their guns again, and for a minute i held my breath. “Those don’t work anymore, do they?” he smirked.
The guards looked almost fearful now. “Now why don’t you take yourselves out of here and leave these children to us.”
“We’ll catch you alone one day Hans, where you won’t have your little baby to protect you. That goes for you two too.” The captain glared at us, as they left empty handed. I stand there awkwardly, inching towards the door. I know the man had just saved us, it didn’t stop me from remembering one of the talks I had with mother.
“Luke, there may be a time when you will be in charge.”
“Yeah mommy I know that! I’m going to be a daddy some day!”
“Well honey it might happen before then.”
“But mommy why? Where would you and father go?”
“It’s okay Luke, we aren’t going anywhere, I just want you to look out for your sister if anything happens.”
“ Yes mommy! I’ll be the best big brother ever!”
I don’t know anything about these men, but something tells me I shouldn’t trust them.
The man realizes what I’m doing, and blocks the door. “You’re going with us son.” the man said roughly and grabbed my hands and tied them together. “Wha-” My words being muffled by a cloth being shoved in my mouth. Then there's darkness. I was blindfolded. I was then thrown into something. A second thump assured me that Anna was also here.
“I’ll explain when we get there, but I assure you it’s better than what the guards would do to you.” I was unconvinced, but there wasn’t much I could do to resist now, so I just sat there imagining all the bad things that could happen.
Mwahahahaha Clifhanger!!!
P.S. what should the title be? and do you like it? I hope you do!
