Prologue, and Chapters 1 thru 12.

What do you think of the prologue and beginning chapters?

I finished to the end of chapter 8. So far, the story is engaging. It's interesting because I just finished reading Station Eleven which also had a character who called himself The Prophet. There are some similarities in the (view spoiler)[religious delusion - a god complex if you will. (hide spoiler)]

First thoughts - (view spoiler)[ It's interesting that the brothers went to polar opposites after their sister was murdered. Kent took the religious route. Adam buried his guilt in booze and a rough life. It's quite symbolic. The accuser and the punished. I'm not sure if that's really the case, but it certainly seems like it. (hide spoiler)]

To the end of chapter 12 - (view spoiler)[ I'm enjoying the duality of the two brothers. I wonder how this will play out over the course of the novel.

I thought Adam making Marie's room into a shrine a bit sad. Is Kurt right in saying that Adam hasn't moved on? Perhaps Kent is running away. Maybe there needs to be a balance between the two of them. (hide spoiler)] I keep wanting to call the brother Kurt instead of Kent. I'll get it right yet.

Prologue Not a very cheerful beginning!

I'm gonna sneak this suggestion in for my football players who like suspense. I'm not much for sports and although I recognized zero of the plays, it seemed exciting.
