I hate moving house, Patti, and haven't done so for yonks, therefore stuff accumulates and we now have a bedroom which we call a cupboard and it has stuff galore. I have a system - I throw away one thing per month. Um... you can probably see the flaw in this.
It's so much easier to just not buy stuff.
I'm not a great buyer, but as you say, Patti, we all acquire things one way or another and boy can they pile up. I worry about throwing away things that people have given me - those who have now died, my children, my greater family. So there's not a lot I can throw away. I have clothes which wear so well that I couldn't possibly throw them away, even if they are over 20 years old. So?I did really well last month. I gave a lamp and shade away. Yay! Recipient was delighted. Win/win.

Yep, Jim, our loft is full of who knows what and now that the children have their own homes, we really ought to send them up there until they've sorted it out. But we're too soft. And, of course, they like it that way.Little presents, like a box of toiletries, oh yes, they go out to 'good causes. I've been bought so much face cream (which I never get round to using) that I really have to do something with it before it all goes off (or whatever face cream does). Bet you don't have that problem, Jim.

Hello!I have a desk job again so I might be able to make a more regular appearance than once every blue moon! I've missed you guys. I've also missed my Kindle, I don't get as much chance to read anymore but I've started using Audible instead to try and make up for it!
So, how are things? I'm good, the kids are good and getting bigger. Kitty starts preschool in September!

Everyone, my parents have a barn like this.
I buy loads of shizz. I have 40 boxes of toys in our garage loft and nowhere to display them anymore. I should sell them.

I'm a chucker-outer. Wardrobes get a good going over once a year, and I pass black bags full of clothes onto a friend and her two daughters. Anything I am gifted, that I know I won't use, gets given away on as I'd rather things were actually used and appreciated. I throw out birthday and Christmas cards etc. Husband is the opposite! Then again, we don't have children, so I guess I know that it'll all get chucked away one day in any event!
The trouble is, if I own it, I really do appreciate it - mostly, so I have to throw away things I like. But it's May now and so I must find something.

One person's trash is another's treasure, especially in Baku. Re-home with abandon and a smile.
The nice ladies who will stage the house for sale are proud of me for how much has gotten trashed, donated, or packed for a move we have no idea when it will happen. Our rooms and closets are getting quite bare.It has not been fun, especially for a decision-impaired person, but there's no going back now.

We have been teaching Dexter animal sounds and his families names and counting to 10. It is the cutest thing hearing him count. 1, 2, 5, 7, 4.

And nobody buys me clothes because I've threatened to buy them underwear if they do :-)
On a serious note, have you thought of donating to your local foodbank? They don't just have food, a lot of them have such things as hygiene products and similar, and some of them have 'extras' which people can have, and face cream and suchlike fall into that.
Nice stuff is often put to one side and given as small presents at Christmas

Since the gov't kicked out all the NGOs here a few years ago, it's really hard to find places to donate stuff.The few places here want money, not stuff. I suppose money is easier to embezzle.

I'll give a lot of the stuff to the PTA. They can use it in next year's tombola or something.
That's one reason we won't get a cash free society, it makes it too easy to spot politicians taking backhanders :-)

Church and School Summer/Christmas/Fundraising Sales are handy things to offload unwanted items. I have also promised things to the daycare centre where Mum goes. And craft things and assorted other items (plastic bottle tops!.) go to the nursery where my SIL works.
The last month has been hectic. Trying to keep up at work when I have been effectively only working part time because of having appointments here there and everywhere with Mum. Having time off because she was not well with side effects from the new treatment. And trying to have me time- so as well as reading whenever I can and my gym classes I have treated myself to a massage (and booked another for next week)
My niece is busy packing for the move. Which means I will have to sort out a passport. fortunately I won't need one for the weekend break booked at Welshpool

Morning all. Here in Godalming every other shop seems to be a charity shop. In between dozens of coffee shops and barbers. Apparently, all we want to do these days is declutter, drink coffee and look good while we're doing it.The docs have me working half days from home to ease myself back into the grind. Today I'm taking part in a team meeting by phone. Deep joy.

Yay, meeting this afternoon has been cancelled. Foot pain is different today (hoping that’s a good thing!), and sciatica isn’t great. Our boiler has been broke all week, fortunately not having heating isn’t the worst thing at this time of year, but washing your hands in freezing cold water isn’t good! I went a bit OTT with coffee syrups as I inadvertently signed up for a month free Prime, got one last week that I finally remembered to take home on Mon and realised the best before date was the end of June, so I contacted the seller, and they have offered either to swap it (and a free return label) or a discount so I got it half price – think I’m going to ask for a swap, even though it’s only sugar, water and flavouring. Honestly, I knew we had too much stuff, but it's amazing what you accumulate in 37 years at the same place.
I sit in a chair and direct the packing ladies - I hope I can find a few things to wear.
And this is just for putting the house on the market, not actually moving.

took me 20 minutes (tops) to have my Cds live on ebay. Three days of getting incomprehensible and badly written emails about esoteric, irrelevant and bizarre subjects from a parallel universe called Amazon Selling and I gave up completely.
A friend came round for dinner and bought a load of stuff. Yay!Surprisingly, she wasn't interested in the plastic bamboo picture frame...
Most of our furniture has been removed, half of it today to a local charity. A big load went to them before.You people who move a lot probably don't relate, but the things that are going have been 'mine' for almost 4 decades, and it is an odd feeling.
I hope those things will be useful to their new owners. Kind of like donating organs, except you don't have to die first.
