Sorry to hear about your friend MT. Cancer sucks. It sounds like he did everything in his power to make your day as inconvenient as possible though. I bet he knew about the West Ham match!
So it's been a while!
We're a plague house at the minute, Kathleen has had a couple of tummy bugs then viral tonsilitis, Nathan is off with a horrible cold and possibly exhaustion because the boy doesn't know he needs to sleep. I'm getting a sore throat too, probably from Kitty and no doubt Gareth's is to come. It's been a run of bugs lately.
I'm coming to the end of my degree!! I finish placement this week and then I have 6 weeks of classes and one final placement after that. There's so much work to do still but I'll get there.
Now I should really stop procrastinating and get on with this essay

That's wonderful! Evidence of lots of hard work - a tiny bit of procrastination here and there helps break the tension, that's all.
Godspeed! Congratulations! You're getting it done!

I think it'll be several late nights for me

So lovely to hear from you Jud, I got excited when I saw the e-mail saying you'd posted. Sorry to hear you are all unwell though! Glad that you are coming to the end of your degree, and good luck with finishing it and getting a job at the end of it.

I really need to pop on more often. Sometimes I do and I see 200+ messages and I just close it down. I feel a bit daft coming in and posting randomly when I've missed out on so much news from everyone else.
I need to decide what area of nursing I want to go in to. I have no clue. The only area I really haven't liked is theatres, it's no fun when all your patients are asleep. I don't really want cardiology either, too many machines beeping I found that really stressful. I might go for a stroke ward just to get me started.

I like hearing about your nursing journey - it's a tough but noble profession, and extremely necessary.

I certainly am Jim! Lucy is a good helper.

Finished my placement there yesterday and I was really sad to leave so I think I'll mark that ward down as a possible job application in the next couple months. Some of the staff came over to hug me goodbye so I think a few of them must think I genuinely am good at the job for the stage am at (phew!) :-D. I love wards where patients need proper looking after but not necessarily everyone in the whole ward. It's a nice balance. I really love it (so far!) I still hate getting up early but I don't hate that I'm going in to work, if only I'd done it sooner!

If every candidate has to do this, other people have had the same questions.

I'm hoping that by plodding through bit by bit I'll be able to connect it all together when I type it up from my notes. Think I've managed to get somewhere with it this evening (if I can still call it that when it's 2:30am). It's just too hard to concentrate when the kids are up and constantly interrupting me. I'm going to need a nap tomorrow!

Yes, it was Alicia, I keep doing new things - me and ex colleague have got things planned for the next two months, they will be interesting as they are places I've been to before and enjoyed, but she hasn't.

Oh mate, I hope you get it sorted. At least if you have all the sections you need to cover researched and ready the back of it’s broken when everything finally falls into place.

Sounds like you’ve been having a really relaxed weekend Desley. As an author, naturally, I’m always delighted to hear you are buying books. ;-)

That's a pain. I hope the essay flows a bit more easily after doing something else though ...

You hear all these terrible stories about healthcare just now, but the emergency response and the subsequent treatment has been as good as it could possibly have been. Not sure at the moment about long term issues, but just now he is surprising the medics with his progress.

Thanks MT, given that I buy more books than I read, it's a good job authors get royalties when I buy them, not when I read them! Sorry you had a wasted day Jud. Oh no R, what a scary situation, I'm glad that hubby is improving and hope no serious long term issues as a result x

Glad he is improving - and that he got the right kind of care. Scary. You must be exhausted - take care of you first when you can.

Sorry to hear he's been so unwell Rosemary, but thank goodness he got decent care, when you hear of all the NHS problems. Hope he continues to make good progress.

glad he's on the mend.

Praying a lot of the snow mass melts slowly in the spring and water soaks into the aquifers.
We will be getting a lot of strong winds, too. The poor birds!

Hope the snow melts the right way Alicia, and I feel sorry for the animals who've been out in this weather.

The sound of rain all night after years of drought is particularly happy.

We've had a very little snow, which I'm glad about, because the drive to the hospital is hairy enough without it.

I really need all your support. My book Asleep Awake is nominated for AutHER award by jk papers and times of india . Please do me favour and vote for Asleep Awake . https://autherawards.in/public-voting-3/

Glad you drive to the hospital wasn't affected by the weather R.

Please take this the right way, but if you expect ANY group's members to support you in any way, it helps if you have been an active member who participates in the group FIRST. Most people listen better to people who are friends or even acquaintances online than those who just drop a request.

This group has given me my own thread - where I post things that happen that are self-promotion, such as reviews and ratings - I never know how many people actually read it or even see the posts in their feed.
I like the posts here - the connection to daily life in a country with different takes on common practices, such as getting your car inspected, sometimes reminds me there are many ways to do things, and they all mostly work. It makes me less insular, even reminds me that things in Mexico, where I grew up and my four younger sisters still live, are also different. I like to believe that helps my writing, too.
Oh, by the way, if anyone here reads mainstream literary fiction, and would like to try mine, just ask for an ARC and CONSIDER writing a review. I don't insist, don't nag, but that fulfills my responsibilities with KU. It is the only way I can say 'thank you' to the nation that produced so much of this introvert's early reading experience.

How is Mr Rosemary doing now? PE's are so scary, a girl I worked with took one during work and it was honestly the scariest (and most dramatic!) thing I've ever witnessed. I'm so glad he is okay now and you had a great NHS experience. The NHS structure is broken but the staff are [mostly] fantastic.
Just back from taking the dog for a walk with some of her chums, she had to have a bath when we got back, the whole lot of them were filthy but she had a great time.

Basically it was an incredibly cathartic and good day.
