I'm glad you've had good experiences of them :-)

sneaky things, appendices ;-)

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Blimey, Kath - bit of a shocker. Hope Jim is on the mend.

A lovely friend brought me round a gorgeous Christmas cake with my latest book, in icing, on the top, tucked into an icing sleigh. She also brought a cake for my mother-in-law, that has a beautiful gold icing picture frame and a reindeer on top.

Right - getting on with a bit of reading today, a poodle around the internet and chilling!

Hope everything continues okay - that was a scare.

By now they could have finished the whole procedure!

Sounds like it should go okay, and I'm wondering at the long recovery time, but maybe that's just being careful.

A poodle? Have you got yourself a dog?

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. Glad to hear your son's okay, Kath. A couple of days on the ward, hopefully, and he'll be back out again.

It's a bit cold and damp here, which isn't surprising. Mixed bag of classes today, so, fingers crossed for success!!

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning!

I had a lovely weekend away with my pals there but then I stayed up late last night and now I'm exhausted. I'll have to get an early night tonight, it's just so much easier to sit downstairs and watch TV than get ready for bed.

Glad your Jim is okay Kath.

Sorry your foot is giving you so much trouble Desley.

Is it Friday yet?

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Phew, good boy is back, he was so good this morning. I was close to throwing in the towel last week. I quite like a challenge but I don’t like getting beaten by a four year old. “Don’t argue”. “I’m not arguing, I’m talking - you arguing Grandma”. There’s no answer to that.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12606 comments Had a rubbish night sleep and really didn’t want to get up this morning, but despite not having much housework to do, I didn’t get through it, so forced myself up so I could finish early and do it tonight. Had a good afternoon yesterday, we invited ‘ratty’ neighbour at the last minute, she is exhausting after half an hour or so! Then we did both Tesco and Aldi on the way back, feel quite drained and achy today. We have blue skies though.

Ooh, sounds like you are going to have fun with him Lynne! Hope you get an early night Jud.

Now the rest know it's possible. That's encouraging.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I’ve got an unexpected day off, I was up at 5.30 but got a call to say little lad has a D&V bug. So I’m all dressed up and nowhere to go. The weather is atrocious apparently it’s ‘yellow wind’. That’s what the weatherman said it was, it’s peeing down as well. Hope my daughter doesn’t catch it too.

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. Chucking it down in the valley today, which means the little lovelies are going to play merry hell. Mixed bag of classes today, which is something to look forward to. I wonder if I'll be lucky and get to watch An Inspector Calls for the third time this week. I still haven't made it past part 1 (BBC 2015 adaptation).

message 8629: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Good morning! Back from doing the weekly shop. Son now home from hospital ( went home last night) and happy to be back.
Off to write for a bit. Then I'm knitting a sheep hat from wool from the farm behind our house. The excitement never wanes!

message 8630: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning

A sheep hat as in a hat for a sheep to wear or a hat that looks like a sheep or a sheep wool hat?

Weather here is vile today, I'm so glad I'm not running this afternoon.

Hope your grandson recovers quickly, Lynne. Poor wee tyke (and his mum!)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Yes I hope he’s better quickly, just in case it’s incredibly catching I’m having soup for lunch and tea - no lumps- no carrots 😷

message 8632: by Jud (new)

Yes. I was once asked by one of the cubs why there were always carrots - even if you have only eaten cheese pie.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Jud wrote: "Morning

It's a hat made out of the farm's own sheep wool, and it's got a pattern of sheep on it. So two of those things! It's for people, though, not for the sheep. I knit them and Lucy at the farm sells them. I don't pay for the wool, of course, and I exchange the hats for home-made sausages. No tax! ;)

message 8635: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Sounds like win-win situation to me, except for the poor pig that's in the sausage.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12606 comments Apparently slept through, but don’t feel like it. Think part of the problem is since our hours changed I am getting up an hour earlier, but not going to bed an hour earlier. Our Christmas tree arrived at work yesterday, unfortunately we have a real one, and it aggravates my asthma, so I’m going to have a fun few weeks. Sciatica was really sore when I woke up too. My new fire tablet arrived today, no idea why it was classed as acceptable condition, can’t find a mark on it, not even when I switch it on.

I agree with Alicia Patti, it is encouraging. Hope you enjoy your day off Lynne, do hope your daughter doesn’t get it. Sounds a good deal to me Kath!

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Jud wrote: "Sounds like win-win situation to me, except for the poor pig that's in the sausage."

That 'poor pig' has been feasting on windfall apples for a month or two - including two trugs-full from my garden. He's had a good life! Him Next Door has an apple tree which sheds all over my veg patch. I collect up the good ones to use but the duffers go in a trug to the farm.

message 8638: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Windfall apples or no, he's still spoken about in the past tense! Poor pig.

Makes for a tasty tea though.

Kelly Clayton | 1040 comments Gingerlily - All kinds of everything! wrote: "I always thought it was pootling."<

I had to google this, from Cambridge Dictionary!

poodle around (sth)
informal — phrasal verb with poodle

to spend time doing things without any particular purpose or plan:
We spent the day poodling around town.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Well you learn something new every day! I've never seen poodle being used like that :)

message 8641: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4841 comments Much encouraged by the PT person who's been working with me. Unfortunately, she only has one more session with me, and then she's off somewhere else (she's subbing for someone on maternity leave).

We spent most of our time setting up the harder levels for the exercises she has me doing, so I know where to progress; I'll do most of it at my own slow pace. Most of all, I needed her to check form - no point in doing them wrong.

Then into the warm pool to stretch and do toe lifts (need the water to help), and nice shower in the sit-down stall, and nap.

And it's raining in California! Lightly, but rain is rain and much appreciated after the disastrous fires.

Apt. fixup continues. We're getting a few things done a week. They estimate a month - after all the choices are made, so much more likely to be two or three, so we'll still be in a small 1-BR for Christmas, I'm pretty sure.

Did I mention rain? Never knew I'd feel this way about it: bring it on.

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, everyone. The weather's gone horrible again - my shoes still hadn't dried from last night.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Thanks for that Patti, Feel better for knowing that 😃
Anyway I’m fine touch wood and it’s daughters day off so we’ve sorted out for tomorrow that I’ll go and stay with the boy at their house then my OH will be safe. He can’t go back to school until 48 hours since the last episode.
Weather here is atrocious again. OH had to go to Cardiff in my little car, his Jeep is off the road until the DVLA registers it. He wasn’t looking forward to the drive in the wind and flood water. He said the water was up to the sills in a few places and a Discovery in front of him aquaplaned straight off the road into the ditch. Be glad when he gets his car sorted. It’s all MOT ‘d, lights changed and insured but need GB number plates and tax, that’s all.

message 8645: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning. Grotty weather here too.
Eww, Patti!
All keep warm.

message 8646: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Lynne, there isn't room here to describe how atrocious a Discovery is as a vehicle. My ex had 3 in all.

Wind howling round the house and rain hammering ayt the windows. Again.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12606 comments Another rubbish night sleep, and really gloomy today, not sure we have had proper daylight yet. Need to get some petrol on the way home. Have had an e-mail informing me my energy supplier has ceased trading and I’ve been transferred to Scottish Power, so need to look into that, might have to change.

I’ve never heard of that term either GL! Glad that you have had a nice PT person Alicia, and she has shown you things to do by yourself. Glad you have rain, hope it helps with the awful fires you’ve had. Pleased the new apartment is coming along, it might be a good thing you won’t be in before Christmas. Hope OH gets back safe Lynne, sounds scary driving conditions. Thanks for that info Patti!

message 8649: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments You lot better get the weather sorted out before i arrive.
Which reminds me. I better turn the ac on in the bedroom or itll be too hot when i go in.

Still havent sorted out if we'll get internet ay home after Christmas. Hope we van. Ive very little time at work to be in the group and trying tp type on my phone is not the best to say the least.
At least i can catch up with reading whats going on.

What a day! Weather is muck too.

Nearly home time.

Thank goodness
