If I have a non-Amazon ebook and convert it to azw3, HOW do I get the azw3 book to show up in Amazon???? The Send to Kindle app doesn't allow for azw3 files.

You can email it to your kindle address (eg.chip@kindle.com) with the word "convert" in the subject line. Or you can convert the book to .mobi using a converter like ebook online convert, and then use the send to kindle app. If you use Calibre you can also convert it to .mobi there, and then send to kindle.
I appreciate your reply, but I want to use the AZW3 format, as I heard it is the best format to read Kindle books.
Chip,For what it's worth, I have several thousand ebooks, a mixture of mobi, AZW3 and prc. I've never seen a discernible difference in reading them on any device, whether my Voyage, on my desktop computer, or on a tablet.
And as a practical matter, if AMZ doesn't allow you to email AZW3 formats from other booksellers to your Kindle device, without converting to mobi...you may be stuck.
Sorry I can't offer any advice.
Eric
Chip - once in awhile I regret not purchasing from Amazon directly and have a formatting issue, but most of the time it works perfectly. Give Calibre a try for converting and sending to your Kindle, it works really well, is easy to use, and you'll have a permanent back-up of your purchases.
what kind of computer are you using? consider just plugging your kindle in and drag/dropping the file to the drive

if you open the Kindle app on your computer and download the books - then save them in Calibre and you'll see the titles, author, and other info.
Calibre send the device works on my Kindle 1 and Kindle 3, but not on my Fire. I use the file explorer and just drag and drop like the fire is another hard drive. I put the files into the Kindle folder on the fire. I convert files to .mobi ... that's how you did it when the Kindle was new, and so I stuck with it.

before you transfer the book to your kindle - change the name of the file to the title of the book
