Heroine with Freckles?
Ok Sara--I have zero suggestions for you, but as one of those "majorly freckled" people, I'll be checking out some of the books recommended to you, just to see how they treat us.

The Duke's HolidayThe Earl's Dilemma
and there is even a book list in goodreads of heroines with freckles:
https://www.goodreads.com/list/tag/fr...
It's set in the Virginia colony in the 1600s and is Christian fic, so ymmv, but I seem to recall that the heroine of A Bride Most Begrudging, by Deeanne Gist, is very freckled.

I'll check out those two... And why do I always forget to check the lists? Awesome! :)
So I just checked the list (which is fairly pathetically only 19 books long), and I've read some of those books, but I don't remember freckles! I read one of them like 2 weeks ago. I don't RECALL any freckles.... but she dresses in men's clothing, and is outside in the sun a lot... so I'm guessing she did have some. Fantastic book though, freckles or not: (The Rake).
I think I'm gonna have to reread some Lisa Kleypas books though!
Anyone remember any others?
Just thinking about this again... so BUMP! Now accepting ANY books with a bit of romance in them, be they historical, contemporary, futuristic, or fantastical. ;)
The Ruby Red Trilogy is Amazing! And Gwen does have freckles! It does take place in the 21st Century but there is time travel (and romance) involved so it does have that historical Victorian feel! One of my all time favorite series!!

Oooh... I totally have that one on audio! I must listen! Time travel? I'm alllllll over that!I also just came across one: At the Bride Hunt Ball, which was super cute!
He, this made me think of Anne Bishop's The Shadow Queen. It's the only one where I remember freckles. It's fantasy and part of a universe but kinda its own series with Shalador's Lady as the second book and The Invisible Ring as a kind of distinct prequel. There is a bit o romance but it's not the biggest plot line. It's pretty far from Regency, though.
Maybe the Anne of Green Gables series? She does have freckles and there's a lot of romance in the books as she gets older.
True! I've only read the first couple. LOVE the movies! I LOOOOOVE Gilbert!!! :)Sidsel — I read fantasy now and then! I have 119 books on my fantasy shelf! I have to be in the mood for it, and, okay, I usually read pretty "fluffy" fantasy: YA or "chick" fantasy (Maria V. Snyder is probably my favorite). But I've read the first 10 Wheel of Time books, and that counts as "actual" fantasy, right?
Hmmmmmm.... Would you read the whole Black Jewels series? What exactly is "dark" fantasy? And I see a lot of people have shelved it "witches"... Is it women with powers or is it.. cauldrons and witchcraftery?
I'm reading Nicola and the Viscount and Nicola keeps complaining about her freckles. It's YA regency romance.

Must have missed that while reading, ah well, one more reason to love Gwen. :)
Ah, Nicola! I actually own that one and pull it out to read the ending every once in a while... Super cute! I just put the Ruby Red trilogy on my mp3 player!
Well, it's women and men with power, no broomstick or cauldrons in sight, though they do at times make potions.I'd say you can read just the two of them and follow the story perfectly. You might miss some references and the point of a conversation or two, but probably nothing important. Just know that Jaenelle Angeline just saved three worlds from a twisted woman and she married Daemon SaDi who is magically and socially the most powerful male in all three worlds. Oh, and she is some kind of magical miracle and you're good to go :)
The Enchanted April, by Elizabeth von ArnimIt has got a lovely maincharacter with freckles, and quite a charming story.
. When I was first introduced to the heroine the hero thought she was plain, flat-chested, and full of freckles . He teased her constantly about her looks even while he was falling for her and attracted to her. I like her because she can hold her own against him.
I wasn't sure about posting this one because of genre - erotic romance with aliens, No Mercy the h has lots of freckles and H is fascinated with them.
Yeah, that's probably a bit outside my comfort zone (the erotic part, not the aliens... haha), but sounds fun!!
Sara ♥ wrote: "That was a good book!"Ah! If I'd read the whole thread I'd have seen you'd already gotten that one. Fun story, as I recall.
You know, Barbara Delinsky actually features a number of heroines with freckles... Some of her books have only trace amounts of romance, but some-- well, that's really the whole point.
Unfortunately I don't have any suggestions. It has always made me mad that heroines always outgrow their freckles. Anne of Green Gables only has seven on her nose left at some point and as a severely freckled kid I always believed mine would disappear as well.... that certainly didn't happen xD so I'll check out books recommended here. I mostpy reconciled with them but still wgy can't I be the princess without them? ;) (seven on the nose would be fine as well... I think the only place I only have seven freckles is my eyelid. So yeah more similar afflicted leading ladies please ^^
Geek Girl? The heroine is freckled and it has that element of romance :) not sure if it's your type of story though.
or
?EDIT: Looks like the first one is on your shelves...
Heehee... it sounds totally amazing! Even though I was originally asking for historical romance, I do read a lot of YA AND am a huge geek! Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go watch some Dr. Who and do some calculus problems just for fun... haha! ;) Okay, I'm really going to sleep, but both of those things sound like fun! :)
The heroine has freckles? My bad. I was thinking of the Limberlost books where the hero had freckles. Cant think of the author's name.
The Limberlost books were written by Gene Stratton Porter. The first is called Freckles. Freckles The second is The Girl of the Limberlost, whose heroine has auburn hair, but the author describes her face and doesn't mention freckles. (The cover of my edition does show them on her, though.) A Girl of the Limberlost and Other Stories This isn't my edition.

But some people just have a LOT of freckles (like a friend of mine I saw today), and since I think freckles are SUPER CUTE, it got me thinking that of all the romance novels I've read, I don't know that I've read one with a truly freckled heroine. One that can't get rid of them by applying lemon juice and wearing large hats outdoors...
... have you?
EDIT: I usually read Regency, but I'm not opposed to a good Victorian book, either! :) Or contemporary for that matter!
EDIT 2: Now accepting books of any type! A romantic element is kind of a must... but it doesn't have to be a romance novel. I read a bit of everything! Fantasy? Sci-fi? Western? Whatever! I'll take it! As long as two people hold hands or kiss or something! Haha! :)
