Vinh (vphan) | 3 comments There was this one standalone book that i have read around the 90s that I keep remembering. I first discovered it in the YA section of the library but am not entirely sure if it is one or was misplaced by someone. The book was in hard cover with no cover sleeve or elaborate details on the hard cover. The story is what I remember most, a male who was beginning to space travel discovered a female stowaway on his ship. He is then left with a difficult choice of what to do with her since his ship only had enough fuel and supplies to support one person for the long trip. The whole book mainly focuses around that plot and his struggle of emotions on how to handle the situation. Hope that is enough information for someone to help me with finding this book because the story from then becomes a little hazy and may not be entirely accurate.

Amanda (misterfive) | 215 comments There's a short story with this plot called "The Cold Equations" by Tom Godwin,

Wikipedia has a summary of it here:

Vinh, can you tell us more about the main characters - their jobs/skills/interests, ages, is she running away from something, romance, etc.?

Vinh, I moved your request to the Solved: Adult Fiction folder - and also tagged the book as Young Adult. The main tag is adult based on how other Goodreads members and Worldcat.org tagged this book.

We rarely use the Other folder. It contains an odd assortment of requests (e.g., poems, a book that turns out to be a movie).
