Clarkesworld & Lightspeed short story records

did you see #487? (might got missed because of the disussion posts after it)

A Que: "Do not change this author's name to "A. Que"--A is not an initial.
阿缺 A Que is how the author prefers their name to be written. Standard pinyin is Ah Que, however-阿 ah (in this context) is a prefix used before nicknames. A Que is a pen name, means something like "Dummy" or "Blockhead.""
I still have to consciously remind myself each time I see it though!

(there were quite some ... already two merged by me and now looking at the rest)

But tripped into a rabbit hole ... the Paul McAuley books do miss the middle name initial on all of his older books/editions it seems (at least the ones I saw at the first page) what a fun project with so similar names and a GR author profile.
(so am a bit distracted now from the short stories :D)

(saw it while merging another one of that issue)

(Is gone now)

The link doesn't work for me and I couldn't find a record (so eventually not valid at all...)
and same goes for "Nature" https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... (on HP of author she mentions only that it's published there)

so it should go right?
And the edition with cover might go to https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... then

#515 Queued
#516 I'd say merge into anthology as I have no idea what The Orphan is. Well unless you can find a legit record for the publication already on :)
#518 Merging down to one edition then OK to combine with the anthology.

Podcastle is what the name says? Just a podcast?
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
And if: should it go into CW or into the HC what was the end result of the short story?
thanks for the merges Emy

* Well they did last time I looked there, but that was a few years ago so not sure now, but I hope so!
Empty Places should be ready for combines in a few minutes - last edition queued into main now.

(I checked via Look inside, it's included there so no wrong cover)
These New Yorker stories are always crazy ... they get so many shelvings/ratings in just no time ... always am irritated by the amount.

https://www.goodreads.com/award/show/... has both the Short and the Anthology.

(And linking the Hebrew edition here so I don't lose it.)

Link to question regarding stories and awards.

I've done the separation now, since you have the link to the Hebrew edition, and all the awards have stayed with the English editions: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
I am suspicious that at least one will need to be moved since it's a French translation prize, but not sure where to...

I have clarification from Rivka. The standalone, regardless of whether it is a translation, needs to carry the award. I don't have time left tonight (nor maybe wits enough) to finish this, but I'll take care of it tomorrow.

award already done
Publication as part of a magazine is not separate publication of a short. Some authors also (or occasionally, instead) publish their shorts separately from the magazine publication.
Most do not.
Most do not.
Ken wrote: "Many magazines make their stories available online."
True, as part of the online version of the magazine.
Ken wrote: "That is a separate publication."
No, not according to Goodreads policy. They are still published as part of the magazine, which is not a separate publication.

Corinne, since you can't combine, something that I'd find really helpful for you to add:
1. Any other shorts in that anthology - often where one is added from an anthology, so are others
2. The name of the (first) editor or just "author collection" will do :)

#549 is a little more complicated as I can only find the Russian translation in a separate work. Working on this
#550 Gradually queuing the individuals then into anthology once there's only one left
#551 Waiting on other merge but will queue as soon as I can

#1 you mean search on GRs, look to see if any other SS are astray from the merge book?
#2 okay.
msg 549
#2 I'm sorry. next time if there are different languages I'll do better providing ..."
Re 1 - Just a list if you notice them in the description as I'll gather them all up at once on the combine stage.
I'll do the search on Worldcat anyway so not a big deal if you don't know or aren't looking at another source.
Re Other languages - that's fine. I usually prefer to merge language A to language A, and then noticed that there wasn't a Russian edition. I could have merged all into Legends II, but that would still have needed Russian-Russian and English-English merges. As it turned out, there wasn't a Russian edition for Legends II on Goodreads, so I converted the existing record to be the full anthology.
