There was a narrow hall-like space before it opened up into the bedroom area. Edie went around her bed and turned to face where they'd just came from. "Here it is," she said, gesturing with both arms to the shelves on the walls. They were full of miscellaneous jewelry of all colors and differing metals as well as bold hats and caps, vintage cameras and cassettes, and 'lost' things.
Regina glanced around with completely open curiosity. She'd come across a good many 'lost' trinkets in her time so she was curious what spoils Edie had secured. She still hadn't learned all the things here that people might lose. "Wow, you have a lot."
"A lot of it is from before I came here," Edie told her. She picked up a bronzed statuette the size of her palm and looked at it.
"Coral says that it's mostly useless because the things don't work after getting wet."
"Coral says that it's mostly useless because the things don't work after getting wet."
"But they don't have to be useful," Regina pointed out. "It's just cool. Like, stuff from below doesn't work above but people would collect it. If they knew it existed, that is."
"Pretty near the bottom," Regina answered. "Where none of the fancy folk want to go. We were pretty much outcasts at best. You?"
"I liked to watch the people that played music and ate sweet-smelling food on the beach. So not very deep at all. When my reef was thriving it was nice. But everyone got sick and died. Before I got caught."
The yellow spot on her hair began to spread slowly at the memory.

"I see," Regina said, considering it. She never fraternized with anyone from other sections of the ocean if she could help it. She wondered what a reef was like, though she would never be able to experience it herself.
Regina frowned a little, since there was nothing in there that explained how she got there. At least not obviously? "I don't...get it? How is that relevant?"
"Oh! I forgot to say. Someone noticed this," Edie said, holding up her hand. Her fingers stretched out slowly into tentacles. "It really freaked them out. So they chased me to the beach. I dropped my body and dove in. When I came up I was in this ocean. Not mine."
