Can’t remember the year.. but maybe before 2010...
The series you showed me is not the one i’m Looking for. Another post about a book set during similar time period let me to think maybe it’s part of the series His Enemy's Daughter but I can’t find this the story I mentioned in this post in any of the books in that particular series either.

Does the author explain early in the book how the curse can be broken? Spoilers are fine - just give us a clear warning before revealing a spoiler.
These are a legion of bastards, dark knights who were given authority over lands after victory in war (not sure if its Norman King vs Saxon folks) and who can marry a Saxon (I think) lady.. or something. The curse by the witch sort of happens years before when they did something or when they were imprisoned, I really can’t remember..
The curse is something about these guys inevitably causing hurt or pain upon someone they would come to love and care about and suffer consequences if it.. or something like that.
Each book in the series is about these individual bastard knight and I’m not sure if the book I’m looking for is the first book in the series or one of the sequels. I didn’t complete the series (I remember that much).
In the book I’m looking for - the male lead wants the heroine for himself but he can’t swallow the fact that she is married and then takes the advice of his friend or commander (another bastard knight) and proceeds on forcefully. The advice is about an old custom that a Lord have the right of a wedding night with the newly wed bride before her husband does.
The newly wed husband of the heroine and the protagonist duel immediately after and husband character gets killed, spilling blood on the Wife. The hero then force the widowed bride whose wedding gown is covered in her dead husband’s blood to marry the hero right there. The bride makes her new marriage vows with absolute hatred for the hero.
Shaky r/s starts, then things get little blurry for my memory.. I know it’s an happy ending like all medieval Romance novels but can’t remember the details.
The above is all I can remember about the book.
It could be, I was reading the reviews for any spoiler comments or some mention about “Lord claiming the right of wedding night” part but can’t find it. But, the storyline is quite the same in the beginning. MmmmYep, I think it’s the book..

Then their relationship starts of on a shaky ground, then they fall in love as all medieval romance novel goes (I can’t remember the details though since most trashy romance sounds the same once the guy and girl become married couple). Anyone knows the book?
I’ll be posting another book in the series i remember as well.
