Even though you're done continue to hide spoilers, please!!! I have a few chapters to catch up on and they reuse this thread each time this book is a buddy read. I went out of town this weekend and got behind on my reading. Ch 18-31 comments: (view spoiler)[Holy smokes, she's captured!!!

The witchwater part was.... Odd. Not sure that my imagination can go that far.

So I am super confused as to how Matthew fell asleep... I thought it was impossible for vampires to sleep, not that they just didn't need sleep. If I couldsleep, but didn't need to ever sleep, I would still sleep!! Sleeping is awesome, relaxing, and feels good.

The confrontation between Matthew and Baldwin when Baldwin came home was pretty epic. Until Matthew called upon the Knights of Lazarus, I thought Baldwin had the upper hand and was a bit worried. Baldwin doesn give me hope that they'll find Diana, he's the best tracker, and he slows Matthew down from being reckless and stupid, amd wasting precious time.

I LOVED when Diana's mother showed up. I think I made an "Awww" sound out loud, like "her momma is gonna help save her!!! Yay!" but all the ghosts hanging out down in the oubliette with her is creeeeeeepy! (hide spoiler)]

Still on Book 1. Just finished Chapter 34. I love the Bishop house! (view spoiler)[It would be odd, having all the dead family members still hanging around, but, only witches who can see the dead (like Diana) can see them. Also, they give you your privacy, like when Diana & Matthew went to bed, the house shut the bedroom door shutting the ghosts out in the hallway so they had their privacy. I love that the house protects you, and that it was the "thing" that delivered the note to Diana, from her mother, and knew Diana was ready to receive it. Very neat. I am glad it is so accepting of a vampire, and I wonder how it will react once Marcus & Miriam arrive and it has to house three vampires! But then again, it did open all the doors symbolizing that it would welcome Marcus as a Bishop, since he is now Diana's "son." On that note - wouldn't it be odd having a son your age, or slightly older than you!? Weird! Haha. (hide spoiler)]

Just finished Chapter 35, Marcus & Miriam just arrived... (view spoiler)["conceptio." I wonder what this means they have to do... turn Diana into a vampire? Consummate their marriage? Conceive a child? Turn someone else into a vampire so that person becomes their child? Hmm... (hide spoiler)] And, I think another reason why these creatures decided to be separate (and maybe them being separate is a good thing) is because if a vampire(s) and a witch(es) teamed up, they'd be nearly unstoppable! Between Matthew & the Bishops (especially Diana), I feel like anything would be possible, and they'd be pretty unbeatable.

Just finished Book 1!!! I understand why Nikki was satisfied with this ending and didn't feel the need to go forward. I don't like it when books end on a major cliffhanger, I do want some closure, but, this ending was not quite enough of a cliffhanger to make me eager to dive into the second book. I will continue, however, because I liked the story and am interested in (view spoiler)[traveling back in time to the Old Lodge and seeing an old Matthew, and making sure the rest of the families are safe. (hide spoiler)] So I still have some making up to do in book 2, so I'll read my butt off this weekend! I'm not going to post this in the Bookish Blocks Review thread yet because I have not read the whole trilogy and therefore haven't satisfied the trilogy square yet. I'll post once I've read all three books.

At the beginning of Chapter 4 & I just had a thought -- (view spoiler)[do you think that she will shrink? Her height is such a problem, "she is taller then the queen" and "we cannot hide her accent or her height." When she was in plays, her magic would take over and make her begin to look like the person she was playing. When they time walked & arrived in the Old Lodge she said her hair was different: curlier, longer, and darker... So maybe since her height is such an issue, she'll begin to shrink to fit in?? Just finished Chapter 5 - (view spoiler)[Seriously?? What?? Um that is something he should have shared with her! Obviously that would have come out sooner or later, so he should've just told her. Thanks to Gallowglass this fact came out now rather than later. He better explain himself! And like two seconds into Chapter 6, the guys are asking, "what is a vampire?" (hide spoiler)]

In Chapter 5 - I'm having a hard time keeping these people straight, let alone their roles haha.

Mid Chapter 6 (view spoiler)[I'm starting to think that Matthew's choice of time and place was not a very good idea... even Matthew says "I'm beginning to think this wasn't such a good idea" and they just keep sitting around talking and talking, I'm getting bored! Although it was interesting to think that (of course) Matthew's father Philipe would still be alive during this time, and that Matthew may need to see him... and it's interesting that Matthew is a "spy." I wonder if they'll see Ysabeau or Marthe and have to explain that they timewalked. Sounds like Matthew & Diana are going to head towards Sept-Tours because it's too dangerous where they are now. I am towards the end of Chapter 11 and had to set the book down to comment!! Pg 160. I CANNOT BELIEVE (view spoiler)[Philipe set up Diana like that knowing that she would resort to killing Champier to protect her memories & knowledge. Philipe wanted Diana to prove her loyalty, and killing one of her own, especially one of that high of rank, certainly shows loyal in Philipe's eye. I am so shocked! I mean, I was shocked when the blade plunged in, thinking Philipe and/or Matthew was scheming and was behind the murder... but my shockedness (new word!? hah) went to a whole new level when it said Diana's hands were around the hilt of the knife, and then a whole NEW NEW level when Philipe admitted he drew Champier there on purpose, to "be sure" of Diana. (hide spoiler)]Like, WOAH! I've also really the enjoyed the story ever since Diana & Matthew (view spoiler)[arrived at Sept-Tours with Philipe. The sparring in the barn was kind of crazy and I worried about what length Philipe or Matthew would take things, giving their super strength and healing abilities. (hide spoiler)] Anyways, I know I'm still quite far behind but I'm plugging on and the story is really good right now!

In the beginning of Chapter 13 & (view spoiler)[all is well, and the book can end now, because Diana & Matthew are happily married and all is well :D of course, that's probably not going to last very long. Their wedding was so cool, and I really love how on board Philippe is now; the gifts he brought Diana were so sweet... it sure would be different if Ysabeau was there. Speaking of which, I find it odd that she isn't, because I would think that she would have for sure heard the news of her son wedding and, if she heard Matthew was getting married, she'd rush home no matter what.. then again, we do not know where she is or why she is there yet (hide spoiler)]:D

Finished Ch 19. PG 281 I think Diana and Mary would be the very best of friends :-) The chick scene was cute and proves Diana's powers are stronger than average. I think it'll take a special witch to help her. I've been waiting FOREVER for my copy of The Book of Life book #3 to arrive... I ordered it off amazon a while ago. I guess it makes it more okay that I'm so behind schedule! :P

Finished Chapter 37 last night and holy cow mind explosion! HOW COOL is it that (view spoiler)[the first three pages of Ashmole 782 were ripped out because of Diana and Ysabeau's earrings reached Diana in 2009 because of Diana and all these other things that Diana ended up being responsible for (in good ways!)! I was in such shock that she ran into her father in the market!!! (hide spoiler)]!!! Coolest part of the book. Was not expecting that! I've got a few pages left in the book now..
