H.S. Stone (hsstone) | 5 comments Loved the series, and The Hunger Games (book 1) is one of my favorite books of all time. The movies were also surprisingly good, especially Catching Fire, and I'm looking forward to Mockingjay part 1 and 2!

message 18: by Jordan (new)

Jordan | 36 comments This trilogy is still one of my favorites. I read the series a while ago, and I loved The Hunger Games, liked Catching Fire, and found Mockingly boring. BUT, since than I have re read it, and I still love the Hunger Games just as much, although my opinions on the other two changed. Catching Fire went from good to amazing, and Mockingly went from boring to exciting and intense. I now see the true value of the series, and I also love all of the movies. I think these characters and this world is very well done!!!

message 19: by Mariettedr (new)

Mariettedr | 3 comments This is definitely one of my favorite YA trilogies.

And I think they did a good job with the movies so far as well, what do you guys think?

message 20: by C.D. (new)

C.D. Gorri (cdgorri) | 129 comments Agreed. The movies really captured some of that darkness that was really beautifully written in the books.

message 21: by Becky (new)

Becky (booklovingcoffeeaddict) | 4889 comments I agree as well. In fact, with MockingJay, I liked the movie better than the book. I'm so ready for part 2!

message 22: by Cheyenne (new)

Cheyenne | 565 comments I love this series! I actually just finished it not too long ago. I know it's not a unanimous favorite, but I loved Mockingjay! The only complaint I could make about the series is that Catching Fire was slow in the beginning (in my opinion).

The movies are really good too, but I like the books better. The movies are a little different from the books, and I think reading the books beforehand helped. I am hoping that Part II changes a few things from MockingJay though.

I finished the series around summer of last year. It's the first series that I actually brought and completed so far.

I agree with you! Catching Fire was really slow for me, and not much happens until half way into the book. I'm also one of the few who loved Mockingjay too~ I'm waiting until they finish all the Hunger Games Movies so I can do a marathon movie night. I did, however, watched Hunger Games when it first came out.

Ilana (iscm13) | 33 comments i feel like the 'bridge book' in a series is often the slowest one, but if you give it another read- you realize that maybe there's more to it than you found the first time around.

i really enjoyed hunger games - #1 - and sped right into Catching Fire - which i felt was a bit of a bridge -slow build, nothing uber unexpected and all that and for me, thankfully i already had my hands on Mockingjay but i think that the 2nd time i read CF - i found that it was better and i had missed a bit of the conversation and character development within the story the first time.

by the time i got through the finale - i was really hoping that we'd get another installment or an anthology or epilogue that would put even more closure. i'm a fan of the fast forward into the future to see things, but i feel like i wanted MORE.

i can't wait to see how they wrap it up in the movie next week though since you know that they can't be prescriptive to the book at this point especially since they've broken it up into 2 parts.

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) I enjoyed this trilogy when I read it. I found the premise an interesting one, and thought "Catching Fire" was the best. I found "Mockingjay" a little too political for my taste.

how did you want it to end?

message 28: by Bailey (new)

Bailey Grimm I’m currently reading the first book for the first time and I don’t love the romance angle that Peeta and Katniss are doing. It just feels wrong. I’m probably one of very few people that think this since I don’t really ship them right now

i feel like thats part of the point. early on the relationship has no basis escept the fact that they just dont want to die, especially on katniss' end.

i love most often i hear people say they didnt like mockingjay that much because of the politics meanwhile me, a whole 12 year old, liked it the most, and decided its my favourite book ever

message 31: by Bailey (new)

Bailey Grimm I just finished it today. I have so much more love and respect for Haymitch after he helped Katniss through the post games craziness to make sure the Capitol didn’t hate her even more

The older I get, the more I appreciate Peeta as a love interest, and I'm into the politicking more as well. I'm probably influenced by thinking Peeta and Haymitch would make a good team in the "Game of Thrones." Or, at least a fun one, because Haymitch is fabulous.

message 33: by Bailey (new)

Bailey Grimm I remember loving Haymitch in the movies. It took me a minute to really love and appreciate him in the first book though.
