I liked Jalan. Snorri came across as kind of dumb and I couldn't get into his character. Jalan had me from the beginning and then won me over entirely with his growth as a character. (More so than Jorg did.)
i think I lean toward Snorri. He tipped the scales just barly in the fighting pits. But they are both more charismatic as partners. They remind me of Paul Newman and Robert Redford in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
I preferred Jalan. He is not as intiguing as Jorg, but I tend to dislike the big, brutish fighter type of characters. Even though I didnt really dislike Snorry, he is not as interesting as Jalan to me.
Jalan's semi irreverence and cowardly heroics stole the show for me. I found Snorri's seriousness a good balance to Jalan, but not nearly as captivating.
He's such a cowardly shite. I love him.It makes a great contrast compared with Jorg.
I honestly think i prefer Jalan surprisingly. He's such a coward but he does it in a way that makes you love him. I think with a hint of badassery when he killed those northmen.
He and Snorri make such a great duo. The best i have read in a while.
It's a while ago I read this book, but I loved Snorri, thought his character weighted great in against jalan's. I like this story more than I liked Jorg's story, not saying that that was bad, but as I remember it , it just wasn't as good.
Snorri for me aswell. There is a great depth to his apparent simplicity. Snorri has a worldly wisdom born of life and I have always loved those characters who see to the heart of the issue in an instant but would also think nothing of kicking a bear in the nuts and taking on 10 men with a spoon! Jalen is a great character too mind you but for me there is an epic quality to Snorri. He reminds me of why I fell in love with the genre. A man to walk the mountains with!
