Susan Used to Live on Reader Lane

My audiobook lured me into staying up way too late. ;)."
I stayed awake Saturday until midnight and then I crashed .
I'm ready for my Sunday morning dose of caffeine so I can binge read for a few hours more .

How would you assess your reading overall?
In terms of pages/books read, this wasn’t one of my most successful Readathons, but what a good time I had! I stayed up way past my bedtime, listening to the delightful Barbara Rosenblat read about the page-turning adventures of the Emerson family of archeologists in “The Last Camel Died at Noon”. I enjoyed everything else I read, too.
“An Outpost of Progress,” by Joseph Conrad (short story)—23 pages
“The Last Camel Died at Noon,” by Elizabeth Peters (suspense, audiobook) — 7 1/2 hrs or 170 pages
“The Raven,” by Edgar Allan Poe, illustrated by Gustave Dore — 56 pages
“Heart of a Dog,” Mikhail Bulgakov — 84 pages
The Book Lover’s Cookbook, Shaunda Kennedy Wenger and Janet Kay Jensen (cookbook). — 25 pages
Total: 358 pages
Did you have a stategy, and if so, did you stick to it? My strategy was to start with a short story, and that got me off to a good beginning.
What was your favorite snack? Apple cider donuts were the highlight. Reese’s peanut butter pumpkins were also delicious.

Having cider and donuts , a traditional autumn treat , with my books was a plus too . Thanks for reminding me to get some .
And I guess president Bill Clinton is indeed a bit of a fiction writer or maybe it's James Patterson's literary influence that makes the story go .
Anyhow . . . I'm finishing THE PRESIDENT IS MIISSING .
Thanks Readathoners for helping me get started with it .
It was an awesome 16 hours . Wimped out on the last 7 and a half .

Sounds like you had a great readathon. Enjoying the day is much more important than time or page counts!

A good time! That's what this is all about! I didn't read longer or more pages, but I was more relaxed and for the first time I felt like a little balanced between social media and reading. Maybe also because Ive been participating in so many readathons lately, so I have had plenty of all day reading days but this readathon there's so much lovely interaction and I love that.

See you in April!
Susie my audiobooks did that same luring thing to me. I felt as though I had endless hours. . . . .until I didn't.
I will be doing some further readathoning today, starting in about an hour and see how far I get to getting my tbr read.
Rest well. See you in April!

Hi. Cynda! I can’t believe it’s only two weeks away!

Good to see you back Susan! Looking forward to it too!

Glad to see your space is all dusted, shiny, and ready to go! (Wish I could say that about my house - haha.)

Oatmeal makes a great easy breakfast imo. I’m going low key except for the snacks (lol)

Thanks, Susy. I was going to skip the meal planning, but it does save a little of my mental bandwidth on the day to have it planned ;)

I want ALL your snacks. This week has been so crazy, I haven't been able to think much about food. I did make a bean soup tonight, so at least I'll have that for tomorrow.
See you in a few hours. It's like looking forward to Christmas morning! :)

Good luck with your Readathon day! It’s a bit cold here so hot oatmeal definitely hits the spot ;)

Homemade bean soup sounds delicious! I’ve only read one of Frances Mayes’ books(and liked it, so when a friend raved about this one, I thought I’d check it out. Looking forward to seeing what you’re reading today!

Happy Readathon to you, Susy! May the (reading) force be with you!

"
Thanks, Erin! I’m so excited to start reading ;). Enjoy your Readathon!

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today? I’m reading from beautiful springtime Maryland USA where the azaleas are in bloom.
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
I’m pretty excited about them all, but maybe The Marriage Portrait.
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to? Rice crispy treats!
4) Tell us a little something about yourself! I’m retired, love to read (duh), and my reading and walking buddy is a little black and white dog, Jaxie.
5) What are your goals for this readathon? To read some books, chat with some friends, and nibble on some snacks ;).

Thanks! I’m enjoying myself. Hope you are, too!

I’m enjoying myself! Hope you are, too! Jaxie has had a nice long nap, dinner and one of her favorite chews. In a bit, we’ll go out for a walk. She’s pretty happy ;)

How many books have you been reading? Have you finished any?
I’m reading four books:
—The Marriage Portrait, by Maggie O’Farrell (fiction)
—A Place in the World, by Frances Mayes (essays)
—Late in the Day, Ursula Le Guin (poetry)
—Great Masters, Stravinsky, by Robert Greenberg (audiobook)
I’m close to finishing the poetry and the audiobook, but nothing finished so far.
Are you on track with respect to your readathon goals so far?
Since my main goal is to have a good time, yup ;)
Have you eaten real food today? (Not just junk food, ACTUAL HEALTHY FOOD) What was your favorite food or beverage so far?
Why yes, I have, no need to get all shouty ;)
Have you been participating in any of the activities on our social media (sprints, photo challenges, discussion questions, BINGO, etc.)
Not really. They can be fun, but this time I’m *just* reading.
Are you growing sleepy? Do you plan to nap, or stop early, or are you extending the readathon hours to include sleep?
Will see what happens as the night goes on. And that’s enough checking-in for me — back to Stravinsky!

Hahaha! If I ate nothing but junk food, I'd be too sleepy to read ;)
Good luck with the 2nd half of the RAT.

Yes what did you make if the Marriage Portrait? I am hoping ti read Maggie O'Farrell's books sooner than later. . . . . .If you are awake, stop by Hour 24 for a sprint.
