Hearing and Doing

“Remember this, my dear friends! Everyone must be quick to listen, but slow to speak and slow to become angry. Human anger does not achieve God's righteous purpose. So get rid of every filthy habit and all wicked conduct. Submit to God and accept the word that he plants in your hearts, which is able to save you. Do not deceive yourselves by just listening to his word; instead, put it into practice.” -James 19-22

How many of you read the Bible each day? How many of you are eating his fruit and feeding your desire? Who here is memorising God’s word and receiving his nurturing hand on their life?

“Happy are those who reject the advice of evil people, who do not follow the example of sinners or join those who have no use for God. Instead, they find joy in obeying the Law of the Lord, and they study it day and night. They are like trees that grow beside a stream, that bear fruit at the right time, and whose leaves do not dry up. They succeed in everything they do. But evil people are not like this at all; they are like straw that the wind blows away.” Psalms 1:1-4

The Bible is there for you to read, so that we can come to know him. We are either walking closer to God or drifting further away, which are you doing? If you don’t have a Bible at your disposal google: BibleGateway.

God’s love

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.” -John 3:16

His love for us is undying and eternal. He is slow to grow angry, patient and full with grace. He is love. He gave up his son for you. Even if you were the only person left on Earth he’d still die for you. If your heart does not desire to be close to the Lord which path have you taken? Pull out motivation and let your self be encouraged by the Spirit of God.

Never too young

God preached though Samuel at such a young age, what’s stopping you from achieving your purpose?  You have two ears and one mouth, learn from this as you should be quick to listen and slow to speak. Listen to the Lord and do what he says.

“But just as your tongue enjoys tasting food,
     your ears enjoy hearing words. Old people have wisdom,
     but God has wisdom and power. Old people have insight;
     God has insight and power to act.” -Job 12:11-13

“As long as God gives me breath,

     my lips will never say anything evil,
     my tongue will never tell a lie.” -Job 27:3-4

Be careful as your tongue can become venomous and sharp, it can pierce with a flick. Do the words you speak back up your faith? When people see your actions they will be an indication to them of your faith. When someone’s car bumps your and dints your car do you insult the person for their mistake? If they don’t apologise does your temper flare? Do you feel the need for vengeance? Instead thank the lord for giving you the opportunity to show his grace in someone’s life. Genuinely show your faith, let them walk away with their mind blown by your generosity.
