Thank you very much! I was going to prepare a speech, but I think the great Professor Umbridge said it best so let me quote her here...

Kidding!

Julie Powell (julie_powell) | 5 comments Is there an acutal place for promotion?

message 19: by Allison, Fairy Mod-mother (new)

Allison Hurd | 14221 comments Mod
Thanks friends! I hope in time to set up not just the polls you want, but the ones you deserve ;-)

Julie do you mean promotion to mod? I did not apply for it or anything, it was a discussion after it became obvious I chat enough to do it professionally. I actually don't know if that's how Sarah and Kim weighed it, but I *do* chat professionally, so that's how I think it went down.

message 20: by Jen (new)

Jen (jenthebest) | 523 comments Congratulations Allison!

message 21: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments Kim and I haven't been able to keep up lately so we wanted some help. Allison has been very involved in the group and is always friendly and welcoming. She seems to have really good relationships with people on here. She was the first one who came to mind because of this. Plus, she's been unofficial greeter for awhile now :)

Lucky for all of us, she's willing. Yay!

message 22: by Darryl (new)

Darryl Frayne | 11 comments Seems like an excellent choice. Welcome and thank you Allison.

Lost Planet Airman | 766 comments I'll be the negative-karma-sponge for the group:

This is kind of how I ended up being a mod for Sword & Laser. Though in my case it was more that I annoyed Veronica enough that she made me a moderator so I'd leave her alone I think. :-P

Ah, if only all offices were appointments made for the people best able to annoy...

No, hang on, that's not quite what I meant. :-)

That would explain politics. And business. Most of life actually! :D

message 32: by Trike (new)

Trike Well, Allison is so busy not watching Marvel movies that she might as well do this, I suppose.

(I watched Spider-man: Homecoming twice last night.)

It takes so much of my energy not to watch Marvel movies. Last night I was like "should I go to the gym? Or watch Iron Man 2?" But I'd had a long day, so I decided to go easy on myself and just did conditioning. And the lack of Marvel-ness is what I blame for my performance.

And--twice?? Are you preparing a class on it? Is it out now? Likely I'll watch it with my signif-o if it's on Netflix or equivalent.

message 34: by Trike (new)

Trike It is out now. I like movies. (I went to film school and I work at a TV station.) Also, Spider-man is my spirit animal, and this is the first movie to get him right. :p

I've heard it was good. I liked him in Civil War. I'll check it out before Black Panther comes out. I still haven't seen:

Any Thor movie
Ant Man
Iron Man 2-3
Spiderman Homecoming (or the second reboot full stop with whats his face. Andrew something?)
Age of Ultron (but I know the whole story)

I think I've seen the rest. I'm working on it. As soon as I patent this time machine, I'll be golden.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 2207 comments I'm totally avoiding all of them.

Plus Justice League.

message 38: by Trike (new)

Trike Sleep is overrated, as are relationships. Just sayin'.

This is helpful advice, I'm gonna put it on my inspiration board. :-)

YouKneeK! I miscounted the days! The library was not in fact open late last night! They are holding it ransom! >:(

Totally. That Thor is the first Thor that looks like my kind of Thor.

Also, I saw an interesting debate online about the use of "spirit animal" that resulted in various indigenous people suggesting patronus instead, in case you'd like to geek out with me in that corner :-)

I don't believe that Latin for So many books, so little time is a spell of any kind. More a touch of the whine. No cheese though.

For repelling Marvel I leave that to Vercengetorix.
