PattyMacDotComma A couple of great reads!
The Lost Man by Aussie author Jane Harper is a terrific standalone Outback story and mystery.

A new favourite author is the late Lucia Berlin. Her much acclaimed A Manual for Cleaning Women: Selected Stories is full of unforgettable stories and characters. Loved it!

Chrissie Stephen King's The Green Mile impressed me. I definitely recommend it. This book does not at all fit into those genres of books that usually attract me.

Chrissie I loved A River Runs Through it and Other Stories by Norman Maclean. I know the title story has been made into a movie starring Robert Redford, but the book is even better. It deserves to be read.

Petra | 3324 comments I finished reading The Orenda by Joseph Boyden.
I liked this story of culture, change (devastating) and the spirit or will or life force continuing. There was an interconnectivity between the past, present and future.

PattyMacDotComma This is such a fun series and an easy way to absorb history.
A Season of Knives by P.F. Chisholm is the second time we meet swashbuckling Sir Robert Carey on the Scottish border in Elizabethan England. Love it!

How on earth do you guys do it? How do you manage to read so many books so quickly? Do you speed-read?! Forgive me for my frustration, Paul, but I really want to know. Is there a fast reading technique I don't know or something?!

Paul Lockman | 72 comments I just finished Less by Andrew Sean Greer. Loved it, very funny, I thought it was a great choice for the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. 5 stars. Here’s my review

Less was one of my surprises from 2018. From the blurb and the fact is was a prize winner I suspected it might be too little too literary for my taste but I enjoyed it so much.

PattyMacDotComma Aussie Author Kerry Greenwood takes us to Melbourne and introduces us to the naughty, clever, stunning Miss Phryne Fisher in Cocaine Blues, the first of a long and popular cosy mystery series. TV viewers know her from Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries.

Chrissie I have completed The Road Back. It is the second in a series of two beginning with All Quiet on the Western Front--by Erich Maria Remarque. I recommend both although the second does not reach up the the caliber of the first.

Petra | 3324 comments I finished listening to The Clay Girl by Heather Tucker on yesterday's commute. This is my last commuting audio book as yesterday was my final day of work. I am now officially on vacation and will go into retirement after that. This was a perfect audio for my final commuting listen. It was lyrical, funny, hard hitting, emotional. I really enjoyed Ari, the character, and wish her well.
