Petra | 3325 comments I finished reading Vinegar Girl by Anne Tyler and thoroughly enjoyed it.
This is the second of the Hogarth Shakespeare series that I've read and I hope to read them all over time. They are fun and well done.

Leslie | 16369 comments I have just finished the first book in a new-to-me Golden Age series - The Penguin Pool Murder by Stuart Palmer. It was quite entertaining even though I did figure out whodunit about halfway through (though that may have been a subconscious recollection from the 1932 film version with Edna May Oliver).

PattyMacDotComma The second in the Slough House series that I'm loving. Dead Lions by English author Mick Herron is another fun spy story. Cold War sleuthing in today's world. Great characters. Not necessary to read them in order.
Dead Lions (Slough House #2) by Mick Herron 4.5★ Link to my review
Still available in Read Now on NetGalley till the end of March.

Sandysbookaday (taking a step back for a while) (sandyj21) | 1534 comments I love Susan Mallery's writing, and Secrets of the Tulip Sisters by Susan Mallery Secrets of the Tulip Sisters is probably one of her best. My spoiler free review can be found on my blog https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/... or https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Chrissie I have completed Peony by Pearl S. Buck. I would say that this is my favorite by the author. It starts off slowly, but give it a chance. It is most definitely a love story.....in more ways than one.

Patrick I just finished one of my Big Reads that continue for many months while I read a lot of other books, too: Chaucer's Canterbury Tales in the original Middle English. I used the Penguin edition edited by Jill Mann, which is quite wonderful. I hadn't read anything in Middle English since university, when I read part (not all) of The Canterbury Tales. But really, Middle English is not so difficult, and the Penguin edition provides all the resources you need to read the book successfully.

I will admit that hitting The Parson's Tale at the end - which is not a tale at all, but an 80-page religious treatise on penitence - is not exactly invigorating. But I Got R Done!

Other Big Reads in progress:

Dante, Divine Comedy, translated by Mark Musa for Penguin - I've finished the Inferno and Paradiso.

Cao Xueqin, The Story of the Stone - I've finished the first two volumes of the five-volume Penguin edition.

Thomas Babington Macaulay, The History of England - Wonderful stuff, will take a long time to finish.

The Ramayana, in the classic complete translation by Hari Prasad Shastri - Just started this.

Big Read recently finished:

Marx, Capital, Volume 1 - Also used the Penguin edition, impeccably edited. David Harvey's A Companion to Marx's Capital was an enormous help. Now for Volumes 2 and 3...

I will reread The Divine Comedy sometime this year. I forgot to add it to my "read" list. Thanks!

Petra | 3325 comments I just finished Portrait of an Unknown Woman by Vanora Bennett.
It took me awhile to finish because I only listened to it while jogging. It made my runs really enjoyable. I liked the mix of history & fiction and the short study of symbols put into paintings to tell "truths".

dely | 5214 comments I have finished Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands 2*

Not for me. It should be full of humour and sometimes I laughed during the first 100 pages. But it is such a long book, the author is too verbose repeating always the same things, that I get bored after a while. I didn't like the characters and I wasn't interested in the plot. I however managed to finish it and therefore the 2 stars.

I have written only a review in Italian: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
