I will substitute the books I've read with the books I missed this year which weren't eligible for voting. That is 6 of 12. I will re-read Ender's Game because I am always looking for an excuse to read it again.

Shhh don't tell them we don't get sick and instead just get way behind in books!

ha! ssshhhhhh! You're giving up our secrets!

City and the City, Man in the High Castle, and Old Man's War are all books I've had on TBR for a while and have been looking for an excuse to read. I'll see if I can squeeze some others in, too. :)
This list looks great! I didn't really participate in this monthly read this year but really hope to next year. A lot of these are already on my TBR list so YAY!

Fortunately my backlog is big enough for this not to be a realistic problem, but it's why I'm always looking for book suggestions. :)

You've come to the right place! :-)

Allison wrote: "Sort of morbid, but have you gotten to the point where you check your average reading speed against your estimated lifespan?"Oh yeah, I do that on a regular basis. I read on average 65 books a year, and as of today I have 3026 on my TBR list. It would take me over 45 years to get through them all (and that's assuming I never add another one, which, y'know, not gonna happen). That's within my possible lifespan (I come from a fairly long-lived family) but just barely :)

Wow! I never know if I'm a pessimist, easily overwhelmed or extremely suspicious when I compare the average TBR with other folks. Yours is like ten times as long as mine!

OMG I WANT THIS SO BAD
I got a copy of Good Omens from my sister over the weekend (her yard-saling husband didn't realize they had two or three copies already!) so I'll add that to my challenge novels for next year.
This thread is called "reading calendar". I don't see a reading calendar. Did I miss something somewhere?
I'll plan to join in for Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, The Man in the High Castle and maybe The Fifth Season. I still need to get a copy of that last one though.

Keep an eye out, Fifth Season is often on sale for $2.99 on e-book.

I have a question.. New sorry 😊.. is the challenge to read them all, or to pick one per month? I notice there are 2 for each date. Just curious! I’m excited, great list so far!
Hey Ben, welcome! This is our re-read event. Twice a year we pick books from our shelf to re-read. We do 2 a month. It is a great way to participate in our "read all the books" challenge, where the goal is to make a dent in how many books from our shelf you've personally read. Let me know if I've now confused you more! We always have lots to be read!
Also, reading past selections doesn't have to be part of any challenge. Most of us weren't here since the beginning, so some or all of these books may be new-to-us. You could read them on your own, but it's more fun and motivating when you know others are planning to do the same.
Sarah Anne wrote: "It's in the second post."Aha, thanks -- and what a FANTASTIC lineup! I plan to join in for just about all of them, bu tmost especially The Handmaid's Tale, Fahrenheit 451, The Man in the High Castle, The Last Unicorn, and Brave New World. w00t!!
This is a good list. I've been trying to get around to reading the Handmaid's Tale (my sister read it and recommended it), and Good Omens. I already have Brave New World and Old Man's War in audiobook unlistened, so good timing to get that done. Yay!I'll have to check the other ones and availability at the library. I'm putting my Audible account on hold in January because I have 5 years of books on it!
Michele wrote: "FYI, Apocalypse Whenever is reading The Handmaid's Tale this month, too."I really don't need another group but i can't pass that up! Thanks!
17 Dec.2017 - Page 5 post 202, 2nd on the page noted . . .114th Anniversary of Powered, Manned Flight
Personal speculation for myself on this one
Just making a starting spot . . .
I will try to read with the group on the books I haven't read, and I will be adding the titles that I am noting below the group's reads as things I will be doing so assist my own TBR debacle and impending disaster . . . I know I always have to go dystopian!!!

I'm new so I just saw this thread, and it looks like a great way to help me with the read all the books challenge. I have read both Ender's Game and Armada recently. Armada was one of my new favorites, so I'll probably be re-reading again even though I read it less than a year ago. I read Handmaid's Tale, Farenheit 451, and Brave New World 10-15 years ago for either high school or college. To tell you the truth I absolutely hated Handmaid's Tale and Brave New World, but I will probably at least start them to see if the older me has a difference of opinion.
Those are both pretty depressing books. I can see where someone younger would hate them. Good luck. I hope you like them this time.

Sarah Anne wrote: "Here are January's threads"Thanks for the links! Armada was one of the ones I voted for, so I plan to start that as soon as I finish Book 7 in The Wheel of Tomes. Oops, I mean The Wheel of Time. Probably by late tomorrow. I'll probably stay away from the threads, even the no-spoiler threads (which seems to be both of them?) until I'm done, though.
I read The Handmaid’s Tale in late 2016, so I’ll be interested to read the new comments on that one, too.

Somebody named Cairnraiser was a tad bit enthusiastic with the Neverwhere threads. There are an absolute ton but there wasn't an official spoiler thread so I created one.
Okay, I'm a few days late but I just realized it was time to restart this! I've updated and we are now voting for July-Dec this year. Please tell me if I've made any mistakes. Voting will be open until 3/31.
Please Vote Here
My votes are in. :) I stuck with the same strategy as last time and voted mostly for standalone books that I haven’t read yet. They’re easier for me to slip into my schedule. I may join in on some series reads if they land at a convenient time, but don’t want to commit to them. Not that anybody’s likely to notice, but I’ll probably be a little late starting the March 15 reads. I voted for both of them, so I plan to read them, but I’m on the second-to-last Wheel of Time book so there’s no way I can stop now. :) I have to support the off-hours on-call rotation at work for the next two weeks, so that will also slow my reading down. I did not time this whole thing well!

Well, we'll forgive you this time, but don't let it happen again.
;-) Good luck with the work schedule and happy reading with WoT! Looking forward to your fun and thoughtful reviews, as usual.

I just stumbled upon this awesome thread! The Fifth Season (468) - April 15 --> Yes! *Immediately shelves this into my Planned April Reads shelf!*
I voted for maybe 6-7 books--mostly epic fantasy--for the second half of 2018 (not sure if I'm supposed to do that!)
Can't wait to see the results :)
Sarah Anne wrote: "You can vote for anything on the list. There's no limit on quantity."Good to know! How I wish "no limit on quantity" could also be applied to the number of books I can finish in a day...
Sarah Anne wrote: "Yes, you have to have one to vote."Sorry, I don't understand - why are we doing this via google, with the extra account/login requirement, vs Goodreads polls which we would all have access to and does not demand additional steps?
Here's this month's threads. Sorry they're a bit late.On a side note, how in the world does a book as short as Fahrenheit 451 have 11 threads?
