No rain here :)

By the time I got up last night, the rain had eased off to just drizzle which finally petered out at about eight o' clock this morning. The skies are still very cloudy and threatening more rain.

If it does stay dry, the local park is big enough for both the cricket and Wimbledon :)

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments It is just spitting out there now - but it has been heavily overcast and so dark all day that we've had to put the Lights on indoors to see better.

We've had to dry Moo and Tee so many times a day over the last week that I now have to almost forcibly shove them off the Kitchen Doorstep to go piddle on the Lawn and then they stomp back in giving me such baleful and mutinous glares as we grab at them and towel them off ;o>

message 4873: by Lez (last edited Jun 13, 2019 04:30PM) (new)

Lez | 7490 comments Hi everyone, I'm back (I think). Thanks, folks, for the good wishes and cards and to my mate nc for the (hard) puzzle books.
About 4 weeks ago I suddenly had agonising pain in my lower abdomen and back and felt dizzy and sick. Phoned 999 and was hauled off to A. & E. X-Ray showed intussusception, a fold in the bowel and there was a blockage. I didn't need an op., they dealt with the blockage and sorted out pain relief.
Went home but a couple of days later, I felt really weird and found I couldn't walk, couldn't lift my feet up, just shuffle a bit. Ambulance took me straight to HDU where luckily there was a bed. By this time I was completely out of it and my temp was over 40°. They phoned my sister in Harrogate urgently and she came up the next day and was really worried. I don't remember anything between phoning 999 and seeing my sis a couple of days later. Apparently I was seriously ill. Turned out it was sepsis caused by a mystery chest infection. Sis said I was talking total gibberish (more than usual) and had no idea what was going on.
I was in hospital 3 weeks, came out last Saturday and thought I was recovering well but later that night I had a major panic attack, never happened to me before. I couldn't stop crying and didn't know what to do, on the edge of phoning the Samaritans at one point! In the end phoned sis who went straight into nurse mode, talking to me calmly for over half an hour. I felt better enough to go to bed and slept for 10 hours!
Sis came up on the Monday and we had to make plans for some major lifestyle changes. I still can't walk properly and have 2 Zimmers! Managing the stairs is quite scary and I'm having an extra banister fitted. I resisted as long as possible the offer of help round the house, but had to admit defeat. Having lived happily and successfully on my own for 10 years and, as Suzy rightly said, being a very private person it's really hard. People keep telling me it'll be good for me to see other people and I suppose they're right.
Anyway that's what's been going on and I think I'll be OK.
Annoyed to miss my ELO nom though!

message 4874: by Val (new)

Val H. | 22188 comments Crikey Lez! That's some story. I think you're entitled to a panic attack after all you've been through but I hope it doesn't happen again. You must really feel you've been through the wringer. Please go easy on the stairs. It's so good to have you posting again and we look forward to seeing/hearing a lot more from you. Take care!

message 4875: by theDuke (last edited Jun 12, 2019 06:35PM) (new)

theDuke | 6496 comments Glad you've pulled through after all that Lez..sounds scary.

Talking of panic attacks....reminds me of the weird reaction i had last November...when i contracted a bizarre strain of a head cold. I'd never experienced anything like it.....3 solid days, being on edge, permanently in a anxious state, unable to relax, sit or lie down (yeah...i was on my feet for 3 solid days without rest or sleep!).....and the cold took forever to bugger off! I did eventually see my doc, to get some 'chill pills'....not that i used more 2 or 3 of them..as the effects of the cold was subsiding by then. But even now, i still occasionly jump up startled after a night's snooze...thinking i can't breathe...it's so weird! I'm fine once i get up. Oddest symptons to a common cold i've ever had. And so far the only time i've had panic attacks....i dun wanna ever have them again!

Tis strange.....cos i've always been a contented deep sleeper....i dare say a bomb could off outside me house..and i wouldn't know about it! Mind you....i'd probably wouldn't wake up anyway if that were the case!!! :)

Anyhoo...speedy recovery Lez..and speaking as another 'private' type, yeah it's not easy to give up one's independance (well okay..i'm not yet entirely independant, but as good as)...so may find a solution befitting to your needs.

Best wishes Lez.

😀
The hospital radio 'DJs' came round asking for requests so of course I tried for RW's 'Vibrate'. Puzzlement crossed their faces but they bravely said they'd try. I'll never know, as the programme was of such appalling tripe, I only managed 20 minutes.

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Ohhh Lez Lee ... x x x

I'm so very sorry to hear just what a terrible time you've been having. Thank goodness you decided to ring the Emergency Services each time and are currently receiving the right kind of support and care to enable you to recover far more completely and much more safely back in your own Home.

It isn't easy for many of us to even consider accepting help. I also have got similar issues with always wanting to maintain my privacy and as much independence as I possibly can but I have come to know now that agreeing to a little help here and there can really make all the difference in the World to continuing to cope well or not managing to cope at all with everyday life.

Everyone needs a little extra help at various times during their lifetime, Poppet ... x ... and it will hopefully free up your time and save your limited energies from being taken up with, and being depleted by, far more boring things like everyday Housework - so that you can spend them instead on all of your Hobbies and on enjoying yourself ... x x x

Sending you all my love, Lez Lee x and my very best wishes as always x

x x x Suzy x x x

I was woken twice by her jumping up on the Bed just so she could drape her drool'y-wet Sock Toy over my Face! She is gently panting quite a lot of the time (which obviously isn't a good sign) but still seems to be extremely happy in herself all the same ... bless 'er! ... x

message 4888: by [deleted user] (new)

We are alternating between bright sunshine and dark threatening clouds with the occasional spot of rain. Now that the water has receded in the back garden I have been able to get to the feeders on the back fence to fill them up. I also chucked out extra peanuts, seeds and suet balls on the lawn to make up for not being able to put any out for the past two days.

Great news - Step-son is moving out on 27th so I've organised a hire truck to move all his stuff and booked two days off work - one day for the moving and the following day to recover from the celebrating! :)

I can just picture the scene after you wave him off ... you'll very slowly and silently walk back up the Driveway ... into the Hallway and shut the Front Door ... look at each other ... and then suddenly start whooping and yelling, dancing around the House and letting off Party Poppers!!! - WAYYY-HAYYY!!! ...
