Ahhh, the simple pleasures of life ... most of my jobs for today done, Sofa time with my Feet up, a Mug of Tea and a lightly buttered and toasted Tea Cake, a little hairy woofer snuggled up on each side of me, and a couple of episodes of 'Pingu' on the TV ;o>
The Postman has just brought me a lovely Letter from my Polish friend! - the lovely Girl who I went out Shopping with just before Christmas ;o>It's been several months now since I last heard anything of her and so I wasn't really expecting to hear from her ever again. She gave her and her Husband's move to the UK her best shot but it was obvious that she was struggling with homesickness, and in not knowing anyone over here, and not being able to understand or speak more than just a couple of words of English didn't help much either.
Her Husband had worked his way up to doing very well as a Builder over here and is a genuine Craftsman who takes real pride in his work - and the dream was to buy a place of their own, rather than to keep on moving and living in turn in each of the Houses that he had bought to do up and sell on.
However, news came at New Year that her Mum had taken ill (thankfully with nothing too serious) and she came over to say Goodbye to me before heading off to the Airport. I had a feeling that she probably wouldn't be coming back once she got back to her old family Home and it turned out I was right. A couple of months later her Husband came round to tell us he had finished and sold the House in our Road and that he was now off back to Poland as well.
He said they enjoyed trying out life over here in the UK for the most part but they are both very loving and dutiful children who are touchingly devoted to their Parents and neither of them could quite manage to get past keeping on with missing them terribly.
It isn't easy to read the Letter but they have enclosed lots of Photos and turns out that they have now bought a couple of Restaurants, turned them into extended family businesses with their Brothers and Sisters, and are continuing to do very well for themselves ;o>
It was so kind of them both to still remember me and to take the time and effort to write and let me know how they are and what they are doing now. They both look SO happy to be back there ;o>
No sign of any rain - the Sun is out today ... HOORAYYY!!! ;o>
No Breakfast Tray again today? ... (*sigh*) ...I'm going to have to report this to the Management, you know?!

Didn't get home in time to do a breakfast tray, but dinner (just gone into the oven) is jumbo breaded cod, gastro chips and mushy peas and possibly some bread and butter on the side :)

Well it's 1.00am here on June 8 so I can legitimately be the first cab off the rank in wishing Suzy a very happy birthday. i did send a card - and I thought in plenty time - but it looks like it might be lost somewhere in the wild blue yonder. Sorry if it has gone astray, but I'm wishing you lots and lots of cake for your special day.

"STOP! WAIT! - SIT AND STAY!" ... before I reminded her that I wasn't Tia or Mitzi but her Daughter! ... HA HA HA HA HA!!! ;o>
She grabbed the Post and then took off with it so I've no idea what it was? I rarely get anything through the Post that isn't something I've ordered so it could be something for me that she is hiding until tomorrow. I dunno? - 51 years old tomorrow and my own Mum STILL doesn't trust me not to open any early Birthday Cards?!! - LOL!!! ;o>

Blame goes to me - after dinner I went to bed for a couple of hours, cancelled the alarm when it went off and stayed in bed until just after 5 A.M.!

I have had to make a dash into town earlier to buy a baby bouncer as we had nowhere to put little'un down, other than her cot upstairs.

Actually you made it sound rather special. As not all Mums, and Dads too, feel entirely comfortable in leaving their new-born to the temporary care of anyone else, not even the very closest of family and not even just for a few minutes at a time - so it tells me just how trusted and how respected and loved you are to be trusted with their most precious little 'un ;o>

Yes, I bought a very similar one for my Mum a couple of years ago - it is one of these Drip Cakes from Asda - and it really is absolutely delicious ;o> ...
It really is - I can definitely recommend it as being a very good Cake ;o>My favourite Fruit Tart will have to wait until tomorrow - LOL!!! ...
