So were we!

For the practical part, we were pointed toward a truck and trailer and told that there were ten faults with it that we needed to find and list. Between myself and another driver, we found fourteen faults :)

Ohhh yuck!!! - that's my fragile Stomach well and truly flipped over and turned inside out! ;oO

It's strange just how quickly he has grasped using a Litter Tray instead of the Floor, isn't it? It makes me wonder if he originally had an owner who got him house-trained when he was a tiny Kitten? Being estimated by the Vets now as only being around a year old might mean he still remembers that? ;o>

Dinner today (after a little afternoon snooze) was fillet steak and chestnut mushrooms gently fried in garlic butter, c_u_i_l_w_r c_e_s_ and tear and share garlic bread.

Hopefully this might cheer you up a bit - while cooking dinner I was watching an adult Starling teaching three fledglings how to use the bird bath. They were all gathered round the edge while the adult was slap bang in the middle splashing away before moving aside so they could all give it a go. Their first efforts were a quick in and out almost as if fearing they were going to drown, but they seemed to get the hang of it eventually :)

Hope you feel better soon :)

I went to the Loo a couple of hours ago - washed my Face and cleaned my Teeth while I was in the Bathroom then crawled back into Bed not realising that the humped-up pile of Quilt was actually Tia who had crept in and curled up and fell asleep ... I got the shock of my life as I slid my Legs down flat and encountered something large and furry followed up by a warm wet Tongue suddenly slurping my Ankle!!! ;oO

That'll teach me not to leave my Blackout Blind down and make sure that I put the Lights on!!! ;o>

message 4615: by [deleted user] (new)

Bet that made you jump! :)

It was a nice bright start to the day as the sun was rising but now it has gone dull and cloudy. It won't be a proper bank holiday though until it starts raining :)

message 4616: by [deleted user] (new)

Had a new visitor in the garden this morning - a Grey Squirrel came sauntering through. Cheeky little chap he was too, working his way around the garden, shaking each of the solar lanterns as he passed them as if making sure they were all secure.
Then we got to the true purpose of his visit - he didn't seem capable of climbing the brickwork on the corner of the house to get to the suet ball feeder so he turned his attention to the nut feeder on the fence, managing to get the top open and trying to reach inside for the peanuts.
He disappeared as soon as I went outside and never reappeared while I was mowing the grass but once back in the house I could see him loitering high up in a nearby tree.
As I was going out anyway to get more suet balls (the Starlings are getting through five a day no problem), I've also picked up a Squirrel-proof nut feeder.

... which explains the dull grey heavily overcast skies and frequent Rain showers here. It is barely even light outside today - forget Summer coming, it looks like Autumn has arrived already.

I'm still feeling pretty terrible and, unfortunately, my Dad isn't helping me to feel better much either - as I've spent the morning going from Room to Room clearing up after yet one more started off and then unfinished job after another - so I've been rather naughty and suggested that certain things around the House have been playing up on me which means he is now safely off out in his Workshop in the Garage and is currently taking the old Bathroom Radio apart.

I feel a bit guilty about this obviously, as far as I know there is nothing wrong with it, but it can only ever benefit from getting a thorough internal clean and tune-up and he is so much happier in himself doing that than he is in doing anything else.

Mum is in Bed with a bad Chest Infection, the little hairy woofers are passed out snoring away on their big Bed in front of the TV and it turns out that some of 'The Brokenwood Mysteries' are being repeated in back-to-front episodes on the Drama Channel.

Now that I've finally cleaned up the chaos Dad was so busy in creating, put away all of his Tools away and the big Ladder in the Hallway (that was blocking the Front Door and the Stairs) over to one side, repositioned the Lounge and Dining Room Furniture back where it was, and put all of the contents of the Fridge back in it again (as I thoroughly cleaned the Fridge out on Friday so it really doesn't need doing again for a few weeks) ... I am now thankfully stretched out on the Sofa with a very much-needed extra strong Mug of Tea, watching the TV, and enjoying a bit of peace and quiet ;o>

Craig White | 6727 comments aye and naw! he does appear comfortable, and has made no attempt to escape (has been in spare room since friday) - is eating well and using litter tray appropriately. strange, but he relates well to my daughter and her boyfriend, but enjoys ignoring us! however, he's obviously got a problem with his leg - it may be fractured, it may be infected, we'll need to wait for response from cat protection as to treatment before we'll know for sure. lux not totally aware of b.z.'s presence, but i'm sure she has her suspicions!

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments WoW?!! - I'm rather shocked and amazed that Cats Protection are now taking their own sweet time on a Cat that is indicating having an Infection or a suspected broken Leg?! After all, if it IS broken, then it will not be setting and healing properly, will it? ;oO

I hope poor little Bob isn't looking like he is in too much pain with it?

Good on the lovely Lady Lux for choosing to be SO tolerant and understanding of saucerfuls of yummy smelling food being taken up to the Spare Room so many times a day! Our two little hairy woofers would be going absolutely nuts in trying to work out just what the Hell was going on! - LOL!!! ;o>

Ohhh bless him! - he probably keeps on wondering as to just how on Earth he suddenly got to be so lucky and deserving of such concern and tender loving care after being so unwanted and alone previously ;o>

I hope that Bob and Lady Lux settle into being friendly enough around each other - or at least into being tolerant and accepting of each other's presence in the House.

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments What a night?!! ... Madam Mitz was on top form ALL night long! ;oO

At half one a single loud "Ooof!" followed by a lot of moaning and groaning let me know she was 'trapped' in the Kitchen by her arch-nemesis the Kitchen Door to the Hallway ... so I had to go downstairs, put the Hall Light on, and encourage her over the invisible barrier back to Bed in the Lounge and tuck her in ... only to get back into my own Bed in time to hear her up again and growling at the Front Door this time around.

Then we had her stood yapping away at Tia barely an hour later to get her to move over on the Sofa because Mitz wanted to sleep on it and she always has to have the right-hand side and not the left! ... and Tia was quite rightly holding her ground and ignoring her by pretending to stay asleep until I came down to threaten Mitz with a smacked btm if she kept this up.

Less than 20 minutes later, she was grumbling at Tia yet again, and this time trying to forcibly headbutt her over to the other side of the Sofa and, as I came in, Tia suddenly stuck her Paw out and bopped the mithery Mitz on the Head which started off even more disgusted and indignant yelps and mutterings ... at which point my Dad got up and shouted "SHUT UP!" downstairs and then Mitz ran out into the Hall and barked what sounded just like "SHUT UP!" back at him as well!!!

I remade Mitz's trashed Bed as she had kicked her Blanket off and dragged her Duvet halfway up the Lounge for some reason known only to her - and ordered her back in it! - then tucked her in and made myself a Brew as, surprise, surprise, I was also wide awake by now and it was almost daylight outside.

After I had finished it, I sent them both out for a piddle, put fresh water in their Bowl, tucked them in and went back to Bed only to discover it was now quarter past five in the morning and so hardly worth bothering.

At twenty to six I was woken AGAIN by barking ... GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! ;oO

I decided I was officially off-duty and on-strike, put my Pillow over my Head, and let my Mum get up and deal with it this time around ... and then I lay there listening to Mum very loudly telling Mitz off for at least another 10 minutes before I finally passed out again!!!

It's not too late to return an 11 year old 'Pup' to the RSPCA, is it?!! ;o>

At least you got some sort of response - I have nudged the lump at the end of our bed only to see the lump contract slightly as Phoebe does her best hedgehog impression by curling into an even tighter ball! :)

Rain and shine here, same as at my delivery this morning. I felt really guilty stood in the back of the trailer while the lad taking in the delivery got soaked, but rules is rules - at this store we have to stay on the trailer while the other lad goes up and down on the lift and pushes the cages into the store.

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments It must be hard having to stick to the strict Rules and Regulations when you instinctively want to lend a friendly Hand and help to get the Job done quicker as well.

And let's be fair now?! - what the Phantastic Phoebe is actually doing is working very hard indeed in keeping the Bed all nice and warm for you for later ;o>

message 4635: by [deleted user] (new)

Flippin' foggy round here until about seven this morning, and though a little overcast, it is quite warm now.

The new sofa turned up at half past seven this morning so there is absolutely no room in the garage now - in fact we've had to move the washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge freezer into the dining room behind the other sofa so we could get the new one into the garage!

Dinner today was just a stuffed crust cheese pizza which I topped with mushrooms and pineapple and some garlic bread - didn't have the time or motivation to do anything else after shuffling round all that stuff! :)

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments It's dull and dreary, overcast and cool and frequently threatening Rain here today ... and that's typically just my Dad on a good day! ... HA HA HA HA HA!!! - LOL!!! ;o>

Should you be worrying about this Furniture pile-up? Your Stepson might take a look around, suddenly tell you both that he's finally found the new Home of his dreams ... move into your Garage! ... and then turn up in the main House at Meal times and to do his Laundry and never quite get to entirely leave Home?!! - LOL!!! ;o>

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Awww, I just 'saved' a little Bee! ;o>

I was putting some Shopping away from where it had been left by M&D on the Kitchen Cabinet when I moved a tin of Soup and tucked behind it was a very small Bumblebee that was trying it's best to hide from the World and was clearly in trouble. It was 'panting' heavily and rather pathetically lifted a very weary front Leg up at me as if to say "please don't hurt me?!" ... ;o<

I've done this before but I've only seen it actually work a few times so far. I put a large spoonful of Sugar in a cup, dissolved it in a tiny splash of hot Water from the Kettle, then added a splash of cold Water to cool it down again. Then I drizzled a spoonful as close as I could get it to the Bee's Face and waited to see what would happen.

It slowly crawled around in a full circle, had what looked like a snuffle at the Sugar Solution and then, suddenly, a really long 'Tongue' came out and started enthusiastically drinking! ... and a few seconds later it was all alert and with it again and then up, hovering, and buzzing away to itself. I managed to get round it to open the Back Door and off it flew ... YAYYY!!! ;o>
