Have you seen the Co-op home delivery robots that they have in Milton Keynes?
I have actually seen a couple of these trundling along the paths and wondered what they were. Just had that question answered thanks to a programme I'm watching about saving on shopping.

message 4453: by [deleted user] (new)

Just looked online and one of the Tesco stores I deliver to is also using the same robots.

I'm going offline for now, Tee is having a weary day and needs extra cuddles.

message 4455: by [deleted user] (new)

Pass on a cuddle from me, and Phoebe (when she finally gets up!) :)

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Awww, bless you, and the phantastic Phoebe ... x

Yeah, Tee has these incredibly weary 'episodes' that can sometimes last all day - she starts to pace and sway around slightly like she is feeling punch-drunk and looks like she is struggling to stay awake and keep her Eyes open.

It sounds rather cute and sweet - but she gets very mithered and agitated, can't settle, and paces restlessly from Room to Room to Room. It's actually rather stressful to see her acting so stressed out and we have to keep on trying to get her to settle and to hopefully sleep it off.

She gets like this when she is over-tired, or whenever M&D go out without her and Moo, or sometimes it is like her daily dose of Loxicom has suddenly hit her faster and harder than it usually does by almost knocking her out.

She has always been such a strong and almost irrepressibly bouncy little hairy woofer and so it is very distressing to see her get like this - so mithered while utterly exhausted. I have to literally pen her into the Lounge and keep on trying to calmly and quietly encourage her to lie down until she finally gives up on pacing and passes out asleep.

Mum went out for a belated Birthday Meal with some old friends tonight and so poor little Tee wouldn't shut her Eyes until her precious Mummy came back at half ten and she knew that we were all Home together again.

She has completely crashed out now because she knows we are all with her. She really is so loving and loyal and very intensely protective of us all, bless 'er ... x x x

My turn for a soaking;

I've strolled down to the doctors twice this morning - the first time to get an appointment and the second to actually see the doctor. After my second visit, I decided to walk a bit further to the chemist and put in a repeat prescription. I'd barely stepped back out of the chemist when down came the rain which only lasted for about five minutes.
How long does it take me to walk home?
Yep, five minutes - it stopped raining just before I reached the front door.

I should've gone to the chemist inbetween visits to the doctor, rather than when I did :)

I'm guessing you have had to request an extended Sick Leave as you still can't drive yet? ;o< ... I hope your Recovery kicks in soon and everything continues to improve with every day, Poppet ... x

Did all your Kitchen Appliances arrive safe and sound and fit neatly into their designated areas? It must be just like having a new Kitchen with them all fresh and new?! ;o>

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Bacon Butties for Breakfast ... Yum!-Yum!!-Yum!!! ;o>

I needed a pick-me-up today as I had a rough night of little sleep. It is SO hard not to feel SO upset and unbearably sad everytime our precious little Tee shows any sign of flagging.

She seems her bright and adorably beautiful little self today but looks can very sadly be so deceptive, can't they? She has got into the habit of coming upstairs seeking company and to doze on my Bed the minute that my Mum starts with getting too busy with Jobs around the House or Garden to sit with her - and so I've just bought another X-Large FurryBaby Blanket to use as Throw on my Bed. This last week though she has started wandering in and with occasionally standing rather uncertainly and quietly by my Bed until I gently lift her up - as though she has begun to doubt her abilities or feel that sometimes the effort of jumping up might be beyond her?

She is SO well in other ways though, and the Vets are absolutely amazed and rather bemused by her still being here with us - as the Melanoma was diagnosed as so aggressive and fast-growing and they said it would probably be back and grown just as big within only weeks ... and that was at the very end of October.

I feel we have been SO blessed to still have her with us at such an incredibly lovely time of the year - where she can doze outside in her Box on the Patio with her Sister, ramble around after Mum doing the gardening, or simply stretch out on the Lawn and enjoy watching all the Birds splashing around in the Birdbath. Every day with her is a pleasure - a joy to behold and to get to remember forever ;o>

Of course I can drive - just not quite as well as you can at the moment! :)

Yeah, the doctor has signed me off for another week, and booked me in for blood letting on Wednesday. The manager I spoke to today at work has also suffered the same ailment so knows what I'm going through. I told him Mrs Grizzly was on her way with my new sicknote - "She's in her Ocado uniform so don't shoot, or if you do, don't miss!" :)

The new appliances arrived fine, and look really good in the garage and still in their packaging.
Why?
We are gearing up for the last bird to fly the nest (at long bloody last!) and agreed to provide what we can of all the big items needed in a house, which is why we also had the new bed and dining suite and are now waiting on delivery of a new sofa as well. Over the years we have accumulated plenty of stuff so will also be able to provide cutlery, crockery, pans and so on - just about everything needed when setting up home.
When he does go, his sister will be coming down from Sheffield to move in with him, so he won't have to face the big wide world on his own and we will be close enough then for babysitting duties for our Granddaughter :)

As the weather not only dried up but got brighter as well, I've been out there with bucket and sponge to make my car shiny again :)

Edit - meant to add that the new stuff is for us and he is having the existing stuff, most of which was new when we moved in here 20 months ago.

Ohhh Hell?!! - you must be even iller than I had first thought!!! ... LOL!!! ;o>

Does Mrs Grizzly also do delivering of Sick Notes to Admin Offices then? - or does she prefer to just attach them to a Hand Grenade and lob them through the Window as she carries on driving by? ... Hee, Hee, Hee!!! ... we are creating such an unforgettable image and reputation of your beloved other half on here, aren't we? Fear obviously does such funny things to us all!!! ;o>

Ohhh WoW?!! - things do all sound very exciting on the family front there. Having your lovely little Granddaughter living so much nearer to you will surely be wonderful for you all ;o>

Had a leaflet pushed through the door earlier (along with more 'vote for me' blurb) for £20 off each of my first two shops at Ocado (min spend £80) plus free deliveries for three months with Smart Pass.

Bit of a coincidence, don't you think?

Mrs Grizzly says she will check how much staff discount is but reckons it's better than this offer :)

Google searches suggest it is a 15% Staff Discount and that there is Free Delivery on several, but not all, days of the week.

message 4470: by [deleted user] (new)

I've finally managed to drag my beloved away from just eating chicken korma - every time I say I'm doing a curry it's always "Korma, please" so today I didn't give her any choice.
While she was busy getting ready for work and trying to keep Phoebe out of her make-up box I cooked a chicken tikka masala with egg fried rice. I plonked it in front of her half an hour before she was due to leave, meaning that she either had to eat it or go hungry.
After a little grumbling, she reluctantly tried it, said "WOW, that's nice" and scoffed it in the blink of an eye!

This time next week we'll be on vindaloos :)

"Google searches suggest it is a 15% Staff Discount and that there is Free Delivery on several, but not all, days of the week."

That's better than our 10% Tesco discount (capped annual amount too!) and will be for every delivery, not just the first two. We're flexible on delivery too - anything to save a couple of quid :)

message 4472: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Seriously? ... you are actually considering feeding Vindaloo to someone that you have already described as being your ... "beloved Five Foot Fury" ... ! ;oO

Oh yeah, I remember - item of clothing worn by people when they're cold. I think I've got one somewhere, probably hidden in the wardrobe :)

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments I was suddenly reminded of when I was very tiny, maybe just about 3 years old? - and it had snowed SO heavily overnight and I was SO excited by it that I could hardly wait to toddle out the Back Door as fast as my little Legs could carry me ;o>

My Nan almost had me in tears though because she held me up for what seemed like hours and hours and hours! - dressing me up to go outside. I can't quite remember how many layers I had forcibly put on me or quite what they all were but I'm fairly sure that they involved a Vest, followed by a Jumper, then a pair of Dungarees, another Jumper AND also a Cardigan as well!

I must have looked just like a small round ball of Wool by the time she had finished with me?! - and then because she couldn't manage to get my own Coat on over the top of everything, she put me in a short Jacket one of hers that, once all buttoned up, had me almost covered entirely from just under my Nose all the way down to my Toes!

Then, AT LAST, she picked me up and opened up the Back Door and set me down in the Back Garden ... and I took barely a couple of steps if that, tripped on the heavy hanging hem of the Coat, fell face-down in about a foot of Snow and couldn't move for the weight and restriction of all of the layers on me!

I was pretty much helpless and just stuck there immobile until my Nan stopped laughing and began to realise that I wasn't actually playing but was soon to be on the verge of about to suffocate in the Snow! - LOL!!! ;o>

I have a picture of me somewhere in that Coat of hers with only just the very ends of my tiny little red Wellies poking out from underneath ... I look just like a small and very strange Womble in it!

message 4485: by [deleted user] (new)

I've got an image in my head now of just a pair of small red wellies pointing straight up out of a snow drift :)

A misty start here this morning has now given way to a hazy Sunday - hope it improves this afternoon.

Dinner today will be meatloaf and mash, served with peas and carrots. then we have that six hour round trip to take number 2 Grandson home after his weekend visit.
I'm going to attempt some of the driving, though Mrs Grizzly is more than capable of doing it all herself - gotta see what I'm capable of :)

Martin O' | 2196 comments Blue skies early on has now turned grey (again!). Pasta today with creamy cheese sauce, pancetta, mushrooms, peas and sweetcorn, not forgetting the garlic bread. Well Eurovision has come and gone once more, the only redeeming feature are the evermore elaborate stage effects, some are quite stunning. The songs however have plumbed new depths of banal mediocrity, as for Madonna's hyped up appearance, sunk like the Bismark with a miserable makeover of Like A Prayer which was completely lackluster then followed by a new song to promote her new album which also failed to ignite any favourible impression. Even Graham Norton commented that the audience reception seemed cool and underwhelmed. The voting was mixed with no clear favourite emerging until the final result, the top six or seven were closely bunched with Netherlands emerging victorious to pip the others to the post. Sadly, despite a valiant effort, the UK came bottom, no real surprise there then though I did think the song was certainly as strong as any of the top ones and deserved a more respectful outcome.

message 4489: by Craig White (new)

Craig White | 6727 comments it's because everyone hates the british (particularly the english, sorry folks, it's the truth!) martin, they could enter the best song ever written and it would finish bottom four! i didn't really pay attention to the entries, but t.b.h. i thought madonna was great, really, the choreography as much as the music - i'm not a fan but she can never be accused of coasting. what we would need to do (to get off the bottom, at least), would be to take the contest as seriously as the rest of europe (and australia?), and try to play nice with our euro cousins!

message 4496: by Martin (new)

Martin O' | 2196 comments Yes Suzy but unless they are hiding them away in underground shelters no luck. As was discussed recently there seems to be a vanishing trick with certain products from many retail outlets of late, no doubt they will blame it on Brexit. Heard one the otherday by some Tory minister when he was asked if Theresa Mayhem would have any luck with her third (or is it fourth?) attempt to get her version of Deal Or No Deal through this time. His reply that it was similar to watching the Titanic movie a hundred times it always ends that the boat sinks.
