Don't Kill Snails with Salt ... Creme Eggs & Toasted Teacakes ... Biscuits & Bench Stories, Life, the Universe, & Everything!
Change of subject:
Having lived here for 20 months, I've just found out that there is a Fire Station and Library in the village, and the Pub does a takeaway menu!
Either I need to get out more and notice what's around me, or I should have been reading the local publications when they came through the letterbox :)

Since I became disabled, I only get to see the Village Centre once every couple of months, briefly as we drive through it, on the way to the Hairdressers or to the Hospital - and over this last decade the whole area has changed SO much and all for the better too. There are several busy Pubs, a couple of lovely looking Gift and Card Shops and at least 12 new Restaurants and Cafes that have appeared with some going out of business a couple of years on and then new ones have moved in ... and I've only got to see all of this wonderful transformation in blink-or-you'll-miss-it glances out of the Car Window as we go past? ... really sad, hey? ;o<
I hope one day that I'll meet someone who will help me to get off out again and to be able to get to go into the Village at least once a week and to feel like I am still a part of where I live.
So, if and also while you still can, Kid, you get yourself out there and get exploring - because you never really get to know just what you might be missing out on sometimes until it's gone - Go for it! ;o>

Ahhh well, if someone else gains anything useful from me saying all that then it's well worth posting up. I've always been an enabler all of my life but it never occurred to me that one day I might also need someone to help enable me and that there might not be anyone. Still? - you never know what the future might hold and the very best of everything might still be yet to come?!! ;o>

Sixty bobbies are after us an' we don't know where we are?!
We're off, we're off, we're off in a motor car

I wer standin' on the corner eatin' Apple Pie
A policeman asked for a skinny bit so I poked him in the eye
He went an' told mi mother, mi mother wouldn't come
So I went an' got a lollypop an' stuck it up his b*m!
Ohhh we're off, we're off, we're off in a motor car

We're off, we're off, we're off in a motor car
Sixty bobbies are after us an' we don't know where we are?!
Ohhh the night wer dark an' stormy, rain fell down in lumps
The tram wer on its journey from Hollinwood to Mumps
A dog ran in the tram lines, the driver rang his bell
Dog didn't hear the signal, now he's on his way to Hell-Halifax!
We're off, we're off, we're off in a motor car

Now mi father was an ‘ero, an ‘is bravery made me blush
They wer givin' free beer up at t'Roebuck, an' mi dad got killed in t'crush

(I always got upset when it got to the bit about the poor Dog!)
That went well - not even three miles down the road we had to do a stop and swap with Mrs Grizzly being my chauffeur for the rest of the journey.
Never mind - little steps :)

Do you really think that any bobbies who know or have encountered Mrs Grizzly are going to be after us?
It's just not worth the aggravation for them :)
Funnily enough, we were talking earlier about being pulled over by the police and in nearly thirty years of driving, Mrs Grizzly has only been stopped once.
Me? About eight times in my first year of driving, just for "routine checks".

I thought for a second there you were going to say that your mum had hung her handbag on the choke :)

I'm not sure what a Choke is so I had better go Google it?
Unless you are referring to Darth Vader Death Grip Stare that she gives my Dad whenever he starts giving out Passenger Seat driving instructions whilst fiddling with things on her Dashboard?!! ;o>

"Working in the world of confectionery I often have customers enquire if I know what happened to their favourite sweet treat. This time I have gone on a quest to find out what happened to Aztec Bars, Secret Bars and Spangles.
Aztec Bars were launched in 1967 by Cadbury as answer to Mars Bars. Mars Bars had been on the market and sweet shop counter since 1932 and Cadbury wanted in on the fun of the Mars Bar “work, rest, play” ethos. Aztec Bars were made up of nougatine, caramel and milk chocolate. The best bit was that the milk chocolate covering the inside contents was Cadburys milk chocolate. The worst bit was the advertising, it could not rival Mars. Aztec Bar advertising was filmed in a real Aztec temple and during the late 60s and early 70s a cardboard cut out of an Aztec warrior could be found in supermarkets advertising this delightful bar.
Aztec was half a penny cheaper (old money) than its Mars Bar equivalent. Sadly even saving the half pennies couldn’t save Aztec Bars and they were discontinued in 1978. They were briefly bought back from the chocolate archives and childhood memories for a revival for the turn of the millennium, sadly this was very brief, and once again Aztec Bars have gone to the retirement home for confectionery"

I can't say as Audio Books really appeal to me - I prefer to do my own reading whether it be a proper book or my kindle app on my phone simply because I then form my own impression of the characters contained within.
I also prefer to read a book before watching a film or T.V. series based on that book as I managed with some of the Terry Pratchett Discworld adaptations and Game of Thrones.
I've never picked up a Harry Potter book or even seen any of the films all the way through either - not because I haven't wanted to, normally because there have been interruptions whenever I've tried!

Another bright start to the day though it is a touch on the cool side at the moment. Windows are open but not the back door yet - that can wait until it gets a bit warmer.
Dinner today will be slow cooked liver and onion served in giant yorkies with peas and carrots :)

I love wandering round the House doing Housework or just sitting down being busy with something else whilst also listening to someone (preferably with a nice voice) telling me a Story. I suppose it is a natural progression for me to feel like this after so many years now of enjoying listening to Short Stories, Plays and Afternoon Theatres on the Radio.
I haven't used the Library for almost a decade now as I mainly went to use the PCs before it all got too much for me to go and sit there instead of being far more settled and comfortable with my Laptop at Home. I do use my local Libraries Digital Services to download free copies of Magazines that I once used to pay a small fortune for in Subscriptions though - Good Housekeeping, Good Food Magazine, Prima, etc ...
I'm guessing that all the Audio Books will be on CD now? - or has a new format come into being? I really should check them out as although I keep myself busy in my own way, compared to so many other folk, I have far too much time on my Hands - so I've got no real excuse not to, bar the ever-constant exhaustion that persists in wiping out my energy. It's an ongoing battle at the moment to stop apathy from setting in and taking over.

Undecided on Whatever - with a side order of I dunno yet ;o>
Don't forget to shut that freezer - it'll be half defrosted by now! :)
Dinner was superb - compliments to the chef :)
Mrs Grizzly waved off to work reluctantly (her, not me)
Now I'd best get on with the washing up :(

PSST Phoebe?! - has he done the Dishes yet? - or should we hide out a little longer?!!
You'll have to speak up, or maybe shout - Phoebe is where you'll always find her at this time of day :)
(And yes, washed up, dried and put away)

Well, you're missing out on cherry and sultana cake then, which I'm enjoying while waiting for the washing machine to finish :)

(*hurtles downstairs and assumes begging position with Plate*) ... ;o>

I have to look out for my sweet little furry friend too, you know?
Right, that's the laundry out so now I can sit down and enjoy my other slice of ... hang on ..... I could've sworn I left my plate on the arm of my chair?
Hmmn .... do you always blush when you tell an outrageous lie? :)
Ah well, at least I've still got my bottle of Port :)

... and I've got 3/4's of a Tumbler full of Lemonade here ... ... ...
Don't even go there!
Last week, while I was weak and helpless, Mrs Grizzly came upstairs with a pint glass of what looked to me like beer.
"I'm surprised that you're drinking a beer, dear" I said
"Beer?" she replied, "Yuck, I wouldn't touch that stuff, it's disgusting. No, I fancied trying a Port and lemonade."
"MY 10 year old Tawny Port!? With lemonade!?" I spluttered.
"Yeah, do you want me to mix you one?"
And she wonders why I've got high blood pressure.

(*hides now full Tumbler behind Back and sneaks off*) ... Okay, BYEEE!!! ;o>

As I couldn't go anywhere or see straight to do an online shopping order, there was no wine in the house for Mrs Grizzly. She wasn't prepared to go down the shops on her way to work so, as a 'last resort' (her words), she decided to try a Port and lemonade.
Her verdict? "Not bad, but I'll stick to wine unless there's nothing else."

Talking of online shopping, I am looking into the possibility of trying Ocado. No, Mrs Grizzly couldn't deliver it or just bring it home after work, but employees do get free delivery according to her :)

"Why did the can crusher quit his job?" ... "Because it was soda pressing"

Sounds great! ... I've looked into Ocado for us but it doesn't seem to have enough of the rather specific brands and things that we like- and the minimum order limit always used to be £80 here until quite recently which was always going to be beyond us for our more usual general shopping.
I've seen and heard lots of very good things about them though ;o>
I've heard that some of their drivers can be a bit grumpy :)
Had a look through what they have to offer and some stuff looks to be good value, others expensive. That said, to get everything I wanted at a price I want to pay I could easily end up visiting a different supermarket every day of the week. As it is, I sometimes go to two or three stores on a day off to get what I want.
