Been making the most of the good weather today - had the laundry out this morning and did the lawn this afternoon.
I reckon I had an audience too - in the time it took me to close the back door and walk through the dining room into the kitchen to wash my hands and put the kettle on, the garden was absolutely full of birds on all the feeders, in the bird bath and all over the lawn! They must have been hidden in all the bushes just waiting for me to get out of their way :)

Knocked together some grilled tuna for dinner, topped with a sprinkle of grated cheese for the last five minutes of cooking and served with salad - delicious :)

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Nothing for me, thanks - I'm extremely tired and not feeling the slightest bit hungry or particularly enjoying eating anything at the moment, so I'll pass ;o>

Still, the sky is blue and the Sun is shining brightly ... and there is always lots of Housework to be getting on with should I feel at all inspired today to get something done! - LOL!!!

Craig White | 6727 comments well, i'm starving (yeah, fading away to a mountain!) but too busy making tea for the fellas replacing all the back fences, and trying to keep lux happy as she's always suspicious of change or disruptions! ain't so good for bob zombie tho' - he's limping heavily and appears to have a facial injury too. he won't let us look properly at him, so have called cat protection for help - if they catch him they'll take him to a vet in saltcoats (that's the 2nd post today with a saltcoats mention!). although they seem to be happy with our outline of how/where he lives, it would seem it is preferred if they lived indoors - which raised the question 'do you want him back after treatment?' having him in the house wouldn't be an option for us, so mibbe better to find a new home for him. we'll see. they haven't came yet and the zombie ain't here anyway - he disnae like disruption either!

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments I still can't stop sniggering about this so I thought I'd share the good news! ... that we are now the incredibly proud owners of our very own Click Clack! ;o>

The Holy Grail of a search for a new Tap for the Bathroom Sink proved un-necessary as it was actually the 'tail' of the Tap that the Plumber saw needed rather urgent replacing - and we rang around until we found a Trade Place that had one as a Spare Part and then the Plumber kindly bobbed in and went and got it for us.

Despite never stopping to even take a Breath while talking about anything and everything, the Plumber fitted us in around all of his other Jobs which meant him coming twice at 8.30pm and staying until almost 11 AND he didn't want to take any money off us for the second visit either although my Dad, quite rightly, absolutely insisted on giving him some.

Anyways, I had mentioned it was a shame we couldn't replace the whole Tap because the Plug kept breaking and was always awkward for me to manage. It has a long hook that gets pulled up at the back and it often seizes up and won't pull up or won't stay put and keeps sliding back down again.

A week on and the Plumber suddenly turned up at Lunch-time today and said as he had a free hour he was going to sort out the Plug for me?! ... and, within 20 minutes, he had removed the hook Lever completely and the old Plug and fitted us with ... a Click Clack!

He refused any money whatsoever but readily agreed to take a homemade Lasagne and one of the Peach & Apricot Pies that I made a few weeks back and had got stored in the Freezer ;o>

And we have now a Click Clack! - LOL!!! ;o>

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments I suppose I should add that what cracked me up the most was when he told me about it and my very first thought was ... "a WHAT?!! - is he trying it on and yanking my chain?!!"

Only it sounded just like the sort of thing a macho Mechanic might say to a naïve woman who has taken her Car in for repairs and has no idea what the Hell anything under the Bonnet really is!

"See, what you need is a Click Clack, love, that'll do the job for you"

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments I've never known a guy talk SO MUCH about anything?!!

He had covered the Rivets failing on the Titanic which was the real reason why it had sunk whilst still standing on the Doorstep and the fact that you could even find out how to make a Terrorist Bomb on the Internet these days before he had even got up the Stairs! ... I just followed on after him silently and in complete awe!!! ;o>

message 4362: by [deleted user] (new)

I've known people like that :)

In my previous job we used to take the new guys out to show them how things were done, and when I got back one morning, the transport manager said "So, what's he like then, Grizzly?", to which I replied "If I was a donkey, I'd have no hind legs!" :)

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments He was saying how he is always up at the crack of dawn every day and working all hours through the Night on Emergency Call-outs as well as doing his regular daytime Jobs - except for Sundays which are sacred because they are his one day off with his Wife and Kids.

He genuinely is such a nice cheery and easy-going guy but my first thought on hearing that was ... "how on Earth does your poor Wife get through spending a whole Sunday with you going on and on and on without falling to her Knees and pleading with you to just stop talking for 5 minutes?!!" ;o>

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Do you mean because of all the nonstop talking, Lez Lee? ... no, he was a very good Plumber - he never stopped keeping on with working as he talked ... and talked ... and talked ;o>

He was coming late so as to still fit us in somehow as we had serious Leak issues going on and several pipes had badly rusted away behind the Wall and beneath the Floor. He took the Sink apart and pumped a lot of horrible smelling black mouldy water out, put new Pipes in, and came back to check on the drying out and to do some re-grouting and silicone sealing and he went up into the Attic to carefully check over all the Pipework coming from the Water Tank as my Dad can't easily get up the Ladder to check it all out himself these days.

He found several serious faults which we have decided to claim for on the House Insurance, did an excellent Job, cleaned up after himself, and charged us a very fair and reasonable price as well.

He even picked up the Tap fitting for us from a Trade only place way over in Rochdale - as we urgently needed a certain fitting that simply couldn't be found anywhere else anymore.

I think, perhaps due to me not going out and not being around many other folk except for just M&D these days, that was why it all felt a bit too much for me and became slightly overwhelming at times - so, instead of trying to help out, I mainly left him and Dad to it and they got on very well together as they both seem to share in a love for rather random and quite wildly wandering conversations - LOL!!! ;o>

Some of the birds here are either very cheeky, or very hungry - I went out to top up the feeders earlier and put down a jug full of seed while I was filling up the suet ball feeder. On hearing a noise, I looked down to find a dove with its' beak in the jug, which was right by my feet, helping itself! :)

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments It's another stunner of a day here today although not as warm thankfully ;o>

I love the brightness of the days. It's rather hard to explain what I mean - but every now and then we seem to have 'dull' Seasons throughout the year when the daylight somehow just doesn't appear to be as full-on and as light and bright as it should be?

Last year was okay but I remember the year before when every day of Spring and Summer came across as being overcast even though it wasn't - it was just like I was always looking through dark Sunglasses and I even went and bought myself some Eye Drops thinking that I might be experiencing problems with my Eyesight.

I definitely don't like dazzling intense sunlight and extreme heat but sitting out on lovely warm light and bright days always lifts my spirits and fills my Heart with such gratitude and gladness ;o>

message 4371: by [deleted user] (new)

I know what you mean about the brightness - unfortunately for me, being used to being in the dark, I am almost always wearing sunglasses during the day whether it's bright or not!
I get some right funny looks from other motorists when it's a dull or foggy day :)

It's getting a bit on the warm side here - mid teens and might even make it to 20 degrees. Got a couple of burgers and some chips cooking which should be ready to serve in a few minutes once I've got the last lot of laundry out :)

Maybe they are all thinking you look just like Jerry Reed in Smokey and the Bandit?!- LOL!!! ...

message 4373: by [deleted user] (new)

I'll bet our burgers were bigger than yours :)

We discovered Grassingtons 6oz Angus Beef Burgers (10 pack) in Iceland so decided to try them and have been buying them ever since. One burger in a roll with salad and a cheese slice is plenty, and we only have a handful of chips between us and can still struggle to finish it all :)

message 4374: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Probably ... but mine was still fairly large and extremely tasty too ;o>

I buy the Slimmers World Original ones from Iceland as I absolutely love their full-on flavour.

message 4375: by [deleted user] (new)

I must admit that we normally keep burgers and fish fingers in the freezer as a last resort meal, like those occasions that I won't get home from work in time to cook dinner for Mrs Grizzly before she goes to work or for when I've been laid up like last week.

Mrs Grizzly is becoming a dab hand at fish finger butties or wraps :)

message 4377: by [deleted user] (new)

Laughing myself silly here;

I'm watching a Starling running around the garden with a grape in its' beak, which it is trying to eat whilst running away from another Starling who is trying to steal said grape.
There's plenty more grapes out there but they are both intent on having this one - that's Starlings for you :)

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments That's little hairy woofers for you too ... you should see Moo and Tee pick one Treat or Chewie out and then mither each other for it! - no matter how many others there are on offer ;o>

They have 6 almost identical looking Dental Chews in their Toybox at the moment but they are both only ever interested in just the one and that is always the one that the other one has got and won't share.

Tia has been enthusiastically joining in, dancing around on two Legs alongside me, but Mitz has just given us both a very funny look before stomping off to go and have a snooze underneath the Pear Tree in the Back Garden.

I think our Dance Routine might possibly need a little more work? - either that or perhaps we should splash out on buying ourselves some real Castanets? ;o>

message 4382: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm getting fed up of chasing the Jackdaws out of the garden - they are bullying all of the other birds and hogging two out of the three feeders, even managing to hang off the small perches on the seed feeder. The only reason they're not all over the nut feeder is because it is under cover of one of the trees and fairly close to the house - I don't think that they've found it ... yet!

They are learning from the other birds, though - every time I appear to scare the Jackdaws off, the other birds just literally go straight up in the air then come straight back down to where they were before I appeared, and the Jackdaws have seen this and are coming back quicker each time I scare them away.

More to the point, where is someone else who could be doing the job of scaring them away?
Phoebe is curled up fast asleep on the pillows and cushions on our bed!

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Has anyone on here tried this new range of Chocolate that is being promoted on TV by 1980 - 1990 celebrities at the moment? It is apparently being aimed at 'grown-ups' only and although I'm not sure that I qualify as one yet, or ever will, still it has got me interested all the same ;o>

I'm only seeing TV adverts for Cadburys DarkMilk but, on looking on the Internet, I see that Galaxy have also just brought out their own version of a Dark Milk Bar as well?

I'm not a great fan of Chocolate because I tend to find most of it to be far too sweet for my taste and not chocolate'y enough - so I might give it a try the next time I do some shopping.

I still haven't got around to taste-testing the Twin Peaks White or Fruit & Nut yet and so I'm starting to write up quite a long Shopping List of Sweets that I want to try out ;o>

As for the Twin Peaks White, that gets my seal of approval, likewise the Dark. I haven't and won't bother with the Fruit & Nut, especially if it contains almonds :(

Poor Phoebe is having a bad afternoon:

Since deciding to drag herself off our bed and come downstairs, she has lost a stand-off with a Pigeon in the garden (I thought cats were good at staring competitions), skulking back into the lounge to sulk on the arm of my chair.
Having just settled down, an ice cream van drove past and started sounding its' chimes which sent Phoebe rocketing off up the stairs, where I would imagine she is now hiding under our bed :)

Ahhh. I can't say that Almond is my favourite flavour whenever it comes to Cake - and I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to choose a Bakewell Tart over any other kind of Tart either. It isn't really a flavour that does anything for me except for (perhaps bizarrely thinking about it?) as when it is used as Marzipan on a Fruit Cake ... because then it just comes together somehow and works so beautifully flavour-wise in my Mouth.

I don't particularly like to eat Marzipan separately to Fruit Cake though ;o>
