suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments WoW?!! - Royal Births really are something else, aren't they? ;oO

It was officially confirmed by Buck House about an hour ago that Meghan was now in labour ... and then Prince Harry and Buck House announced about 20 minutes ago that she gave birth over 9 hours ago at around 5.30 this morning?!! ;o>

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments A much warmer and drier day here today ;o>

I've been sitting out and enjoying some Smoked Salmon Pate on Toast this morning ... except I didn't really enjoy it half as much as I always do because it would seem that Morrisons have decided to change the Recipe on one of my favourite treats ... (sigh*)

It is now made with mainly full-fat Cheese and has become far too thick and heavy rather than light and mousse-like - and it has clearly got a lot less Salmon in it and it tastes 'tired' rather than freshly made. It definitely isn't the same delicious treat at all.

Why, ohhh why, do Supermarkets do this with such previously perfect Products?!! ;o<

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Mum's Birthday tomorrow. It's been so much harder this year trying to source everything online but I've got my Cards (one from me and one each from the little hairy woofers ;o>), her Birthday Cake, and several rather nice gifts together plus her Flowers on order for Delivery.

I really do miss getting to go out but at least I still have the fabulous Internet ;o>

My guess is that it is done on the principle of I had better be seen to be doing something before someone questions the validity of actually employing me. Thus change for the sake of change rather than actually making any improvement, and as always the customer is more impoverished as a consequence!

message 4310: by suzysunshine7 (last edited May 07, 2019 12:32PM) (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Yeah, very likely that, Martin - and I'm guessing too that they have tried to squeeze more profit out of it by shaving a few pence off the cost of the previous Ingredients
... which from memory included Reduced Fat Crème Fraiche (now missing) and at least 30% more Smoked Salmon in it as well ;o<

Martin O' | 2196 comments Right enough Suzy, I have lost track over the last few years of favourite products that have disappeared from supermarket shelves forever and occasionally replaced with an inferior or "improved" version. ^+1 Wot she sung! :)

Co-op was once our usual grocery haunt..but something has changed within the managing circles of that once great brand, in the last couple of years, i think, and not for the better, i feel.

My store has 'removed' so many products & put odd stuff in their place, it's become less appealing. Some stuff we used to get, just ordinary regular groceries, nothing special..can't them there anymore. And these aren't products that one would expect to be taken off the shelves...being popular branded items. But no more in the Co-Op it seems. I dunno what there game plan is, these days...but bar the general staples items, they don't seem to keep anything else on the shelves for very long these days. They'll introduce loads of new lines one month, keep 'em on the shelves for a few months, then remove them and put other similar like items in their place. And what's replaced, never seem to be quite as nice as what went before them.

Pain the bum! They've even reduced the crisps and chocolates right down now (okay granted, there's far too many varieties available anyway)....but is it me..or are the simple standard bars of chocolate seemingly disappearing more and more, in favour of these daft 'mini sized share pouches like things, now? There's blinking dozens of them now...and more blerdy plastic to deal with. I like choco bars that were wrapped in coil and paper..what happen to them? I used to love running my finger down the foil covered grooves of a KitKat...can't do that anymore. Now it's plastic ponches....plastic...more bloody plastic! I ain't buying them....give me foil covered bar plain choclate..and keep ya cwappy pouches an' ya foriegn stylee praaalineee nutty jobs as well......I want normal Inglish chockerlat, innit! :)

Hands up, those that once could buy chocolate boxes, with marzipan, ginger, cream centers? No?...not many of you? I haven't seen a regular box of chocolates that have marzipan or ginger ones, since i was lad. It's all bloody coffee, nut & praline ones, these days. Granted, one might find the odd strawberry, orange ones, maybe even a mint one...but that's pretty much it. Dun like this modern idea of chocolate, supposed to be sophisticated and upmarket an all that...my arse! European style crap......and Belgian chocolates are the worst...they're fookin' orrible!

I'm a brit..i like milk chocolate, with sweet centres...stuff your nuts, i hate 'em! :)

Right...that's me 5 minute morning rant over....off i go to make a cup of ENGLISH tea!

Ermm...yeah...good morning folks!

I went in the other day, during a 'quick' shop, and thought i pick myself up some multipacks of Wispa bars....not caramel ones, not other yucky mixed flavoured ones..just the bog standard ordinary chololate ones. Could i find them..anywhere? I could see single bars anywhere...they done away with the end shelves where they used to be.....it's allbecoming these 'sharing' pouch type thingies now. The crisps are boring..and Popcorn..what the hell is going on with popcorn??!! The breeding all the place...it's everywhere! Every possible flavour ad 'style' you can imagine, surely folks aren't THAT mad for this americanised product nowadays? The problem with pocorn i found, is bits of it get stuck in me teeth.

Anyway.....I go to Tesco now! They've got plenty of stuff :)

Gordon (skiiltan) | 2940 comments Tech XXIII wrote: "we haven't had any Richards for a while..."

Given that the last King Richard is widely viewed as a usurper & murderer (largely William Shakespeare's fault) and the one before was deposed as a despot who stole the titles & lands of his relatives, it's perhaps not so surprising. Although Charleses don't exactly have a great reputation, either.

I think we need a Kong, a Cole or a Bing.

Been laid low all week - suddenly came over dizzy on Monday afternoon so I went to bed to try and sleep it off. When I got up for work that night I felt even worse so phoned in sick and went back to bed, where I stayed for the next 26 hours, I have been told. Mrs Grizzly woke me up to force feed me tea and toast.
Since then, the dizziness and nausea has persisted. I finally managed to get an over the phone consultation with the doctor who suspected vertigo, and made me an appointment for this morning. Examination reveals that BP is up again and she is attributing the dizziness/nausea to Labyrinthitis and has signed me off until next Friday.

message 4329: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Ohhh Poppet?!! ... x ;o<

Poor poorly you - I suddenly developed Labyrinthitis a few years ago whilst getting over a bad Cold and so I know only too well from personal experience as to just how horrendous it can be.

I hope you got written up for some effective Anti-Nausea Medication? ... (*HUGE but gentle Hugs until you feel much better*) ... and tell Phoebe from me to cuddle up and take extra special care of her 'Daddy' ... x

message 4330: by Martin (new)

Martin O' | 2196 comments Sympathies Grizzle, some years ago I was diagnosed with Meniere's
disease and suffered severe bouts of dizziness, nausea, tinnitus etc. It was like being room spinning drunk with that stuffed up flu in the head which felt it was being gradually squeezed inside out. I found the best course of action was to lie down in a darkened room with some soothing music low in the background which seemed to distract my senses enough to give me some relief. Afterwards there usually followed bad headaches and I also found myself very tired and sleeping a lot. Thankfully I have only had the occasional mild episode the last few years.

message 4331: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Slowing down and breaking up each series of movements when you have to move to get up and lie down can help a lot too. Any sudden movements and all of them one after another in the one go can make it far worse as you may have found out by now.

If you take the time to give yourself a good few seconds in between each move so as to allow your Body to adjust itself and settle into being in a different position then hopefully your Blood Pressure won't suddenly dramatically rise or plummet and the overall dizziness and Nausea will not be quite as bad.

"And tell Phoebe from me to cuddle up and take extra special care of her 'Daddy' ... x" ......

I think Phoebe is under orders from Mrs Grizzly to make sure I can't do anything - she has spent most of the past few days planted squarely on my chest, more difficult to remove than a red wine stain! :)

message 4334: by [deleted user] (new)

I know what you're saying about the room spinning like I'm drunk, Martin, that's how I described it to the doctor :)
This is exactly how I felt last year when I had high blood pressure diagnosed, but the dizziness was put down to that as well, though I now wonder myself if it was just the blood pressure - forgot to ask the doctor about that.

I've got a Chicken in the Oven, the Beds all stripped and remade with fresh Bedding, the hoovering all done from top to bottom, and the Laundry well underway ... it was time to sit outside in the sunshine and fresh air and relax with a nice bit of Dinner and a well-deserved Mug of proper Coffee ...

I had literally just set myself up and sat myself down when the Heavens unexpectedly opened and Hailstones suddenly started pelting down on me!!! ... and I could almost swear that I heard faint sound of sniggers coming from beyond the Clouds as I grabbed everything I could and limped for the Back Door!!! ;oO

message 4344: by [deleted user] (new)

The weather has been like that here for the past few days - we had hailstones bouncing noisily off the windows yesterday, though today has been mostly sunny so far with only the one short, heavy downpour.

I've been allowed back into the kitchen (chained to the cooker at two points for balance) and cooked dinner today - a full roast minus the Yorkies as I haven't got any eggs until the shopping turns up in a bit :)

Maybe I'm pushing things a bit but Mrs Grizzly is at work for the next four days and I'm not having her doing everything on top of going to work. Anyway, once the shopping has been delivered I've got the rest of the day to lie down if necessary :)

message 4345: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Pace yourself, Poppet ... keep taking time out to rest between doing only the most essential of small jobs - or you might end up in becoming even iller and for longer.

message 4346: by [deleted user] (new)

Finally!!

Back at the start of April, I ordered a new washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge freezer, and have been waiting ever since for the items to all be in stock so that they could be delivered together.
Having emailed the supplier a few times and not been satisfied with their lack of response, I had decided that today was the day - I was going to ring them up this time instead of emailing, and if they hadn't got them all available, I was going to cancel the order and demand my money back (paid in full at the time of ordering).
I clicked onto their website to get the phone number, and while I was there had a look to see the availability of the fridge freezer, the only item they claimed that they hadn't got in stock. True enough, it did say they were having issues with the manufacturer concerning this particular model, but that they had a very similar model that was only £20 more.
Not prepared to wait any longer, I rang their customer services and asked them if I could change my order. The woman that I spoke to guessed that it would be the fridge freezer that I wanted to change and the model I wanted to change it to. Even better, she said that they would waive the extra £20 as I had waited for so long and told me I could have delivery of all three appliances this coming Wednesday.
I said "That'll do me nicely - come at any time as I can't go anywhere anyway!" :)

message 4350: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Yes, they do, but I picked that T-Shirt out more for it's design style than for the Website it is being sold on. The Website is supposedly based in the USA but is seemingly only a year old, has got no Reviews at all, and it is full of really bad spelling mistakes ... like they have spelt 'Checkout' as 'Cheakout' ... which all suggests to me that it could be a dodgy site?

There are lots of variations and colour options though on this kind of T-Shirt across many other Websites and you can find them here ;o> ...
