suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Nah, I just fancied Breakfast in Bed this Morning 'cos I'm feeling a bit cheesed off today.

I went to the Fracture Clinic yesterday just to have my Shoulder checked out and fully expected to be discharged ... but it turns out that somehow between dislocating it and having it strapped up and virtually completely immobilised for several weeks now I have miraculously managed to develop a small hairline Fracture in my Collarbone?!! ;oO

The Consultant was as surprised as I was - still I suppose it's some new kind of skill to add to my CV in my ever-expanding Medical Records, I guess?!! They'll be needing extra Staff and a separate Trolley just for pushing my Patient Notes from Dept to Dept soon ;o>

I've ended up coming back even more strapped up than I was before! - and so I'm not exactly feeling much like a happy bunny today ;o<

Mind you, I haven't looked so who knows what delights I'm missing. I was just catching up with the April edition of Good Housekeeping and they also did an Easter egg survey - "226 Easter eggs, 10 categories, 53 tasters". Did you see it? The winner in the Showstopper category was Cocoba Milk Chocolate Toffee Easter Egg (£11.95 for250g to £49.95 FOR 2kg)

This amused me yesterday;

While waiting for a bay so I could tip my rubbish, I was reading my book on my phone. Another driver came out to move his truck and upon spotting me shouted over "I didn't know you wore glasses, Grizzly."
"Only for reading", I replied.
"Ooh, that's the start of a long slippery slope", he said. "I started off like that, and now I can't see a thing full stop without mine"
That said, he went to get into his truck, but a minute later reappeared, and looked down at the number plate.
"Wrong bloody truck", he said.

Not wanting to waste the moment, I waved my glasses at him and said "Can't see a thing without 'em? You can't see a thing with 'em - try mine!" :)

WoW?!! - that looks pretty and also rather yummy, Val ;o>

Chokablok used to be a separate company that started out in making a range of Easter Eggs for Tesco and now seem to have be taken over by Tesco as they don't seem to sell anything else or elsewhere anymore.

A lot of Supermarkets over here now offer up these particular kinds of flavoured Easter Eggs with the front part usually made of a different flavour of Chocolate and then studded with all sorts of sweets and treats - but I keep going back to the Tesco Chokablok ones as they usually have a bit more to them - more differences and depths of flavours and sweet and treat mixtures involved.

I bought a couple of similar slightly smaller ones from Lidl last year but they were extremely sweet and a little bit sickly with it rather than being tasty and flavoursome.

I'd really love for a Banoffee Easter Egg to actually taste of full-on Banana - even if it is an artificial flavouring boost such as using a Banana Milkshake flavour in the Chocolate - but I haven't managed to find us a good one yet.

The Lemon Meringue and Cherry Bakewell Easter Eggs were absolutely fantastic though ;o>

I noticed the other day that there is an American couple on YouTube who have posted up their own taste testing Reviews on this year's Chokablok Easter Eggs! ;o> ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4q_DL...

EDIT ADDITION: ... and yes I love to check out all of the Tried & Tested Reviews across several different Websites over here ... I find they come in very handy at Christmas and Easter time for checking out what they think are the very best of all the seasonal specialities that are on sale ;o>

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments My Mum has got Reading Glasses that she refuses point-blank to ever wear when out in public. This means that when we do go out she tends to point to or hand over everything to me so that I can then read things out to her ... small signs, labels, price tags, the wording on the backs of grocery and household items, and Café Menus, etc.

Recently she was issued with another pair in a different coloured frame. I'm not quite sure why she has got two pairs and she can't quite seem to remember as to why she got the second pair either? - but it has become increasingly obvious to me now that the second pair are something for me to get to search the entire House in looking for ... just so that she can put them on to help her to find her original pair!!! ;o>

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Am I starting to turn into a Pedant?!! ;oO

I've been coming across all of the local hype and promotion about the new TV comedy series 'Scarborough' being filmed here in Stockport ... and, EVERY single time, I've come across Jason Manford's surname incorrectly spelled as 'Mamford'.

I'm not particularly all that interested in the series or am I any kind of a fan of Jason Manford either - but - after days of having several different Stockport Tourism Facebook Pages and Websites too all post and repost this mistake I finally thought ... "Right! - that's it!" ... and have spent several minutes today posting up a few (very polite) corrections in various places - LOL!!! ;o>

There's absolutely no need to thank me, Jason but, if you do feel it to be necessary, then please? ... just remember to get my name right on the Cheque before you put it in the Post, won't you?!! ;o>

Having been informed by Mrs Grizzly that "we" are on a diet, dinner today was chicken salad, no chips :)

Just managed to get that eaten before our new furniture was delivered - bed frame and dining table/chairs. suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Our Kitchen Ceiling has decided to buckle and bow and threaten to fall in on us today! - we are pretty sure it is a slow and steady leak that has been happening for quite sometime now underneath the tiled Floor below the Bathroom Sink upstairs.

About 20 small Tiles above the Kitchen Window by the Kitchen Sink have cracked open and free of their Grouting and the bowing effect of heavy damp Plaster has bowed and bent the Runner bit that the Blinds open and close on.

I managed to climb up onto the Draining Board and help my Dad to brace it all with a propped up temporary Lintel Beam made from a spare thick plank of Wood ... I won't tell you all the details of how almost impossible it was for all of us to try to get me down again afterwards but me and Mum getting the giggles over the sheer absurdity of it all didn't really help much either at the time.

I was perched almost rigid by then with various Muscle Spasms whilst still only dressed in my PJs and I had no choice but to stay there and have my Breakfast just so that I could take my Medication to loosen me up enough to get back down again! ... HA HA HA HA HA!!! ;o>

I actually managed to buy it for just £3.99!!! - as it was originally on sale for £16.99 but the last few were reduced down to £8.99 a couple of days ago ... It isn't scary so much as "OHHH! - why now of all times?!!" - LOL!!! ;o>

I am still very flexible but there is always a heavy price to pay for every single movement of every activity. My Muscles do such a marvellous job of compensating for my crappy Bone structure but they can suddenly decide to seize up rigid as stone or just relax like a Rag Doll ... and this often happens at completely the wrong time and without any warning.

It wasn't a big deal in getting up the Step Ladder with Mum helping me or sitting on the Cabinet and holding things with just the one Arm for my Dad - but then I seized up and had to sit it out and wait for my Muscles to relax enough again before I could get myself back down.

Mum and me were laughing so much because we were joking about maybe having to ring the Emergency Services and trying to explain to them what on Earth I was doing perched up on top of the Kitchen Units at 6am in the morning! With my Arm already in a Sling we thought they might possibly put me down in their Notes as being a serial Self-Harmer who was threatening to throw herself off our Draining Board!!!

And, to cap it all off, I was still wearing my Garfield PJs with this on the front!!! ;o> ...

Just please don't play with any Bridges while you're out there, will you? ;o>

We had yet another daft chancer who thought he could take on a local Railway Bridge yesterday ... it took over 3 hours to shift him and then another 6 hours before the Bridge was declared safe and the Road was reopened - and it caused chaos and Traffic gridlock through 7 surrounding Villages, including ours!

It ended up in taking us 25 minutes to make the usual 6 minute Car journey to the Dentists! ;oO

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments I've got my ... ERRR? ... 'our' Simnel Cake! ;o>

I was hoping to have a bit of a look around the Shop but it wouldn't have been fair on my Neighbour who kindly offered to take me on his way to Work so it was a morning of getting ready for a 3 minute max in and out job instead ... Ahhh well!

The huge Box it was packed and sealed in threw me for a while? It looked like it could easily have contained a massive Microwave despite barely weighing much to carry?!! ... and the small Cake Tin inside taking up barely a 10th of it had me laughing out loud ;o>

It does looks extremely good even though I would never in a month of Sundays have ever wanted to pay out on the full price of £16.99 for it.

Mum keeps on looking at it? ... and then looking sideways at me? ...

I don't think it will be long now before it gets cut and 'taste-tested' ;o>

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Red Sky at night definitely did not foretell Shepherd's delight this morning ... well? - not unless any local Shepherds were wishing and hoping for strong Winds and heavy Showers carrying on pretty much all night long until now? ;o>

It's managed to stay dry for the last hour but the Sky is still completely overcast with dark grey Clouds - and we are sat here ready and waiting on the Plumber who said that he would be coming some time between 12 and 3.

I can't imagine that it isn't going to cost a large amount to sort this out but (staying ever-practical and positive on all of this) it has been well over a decade now since the Bathroom Floor was tiled and the Kitchen Ceiling was given a fresh lick of paint.

As unexpectedly annoying as it is that this has happened, it presents us with an opportunity to get to redo the Bathroom Floor so that it will hopefully go on to last another decade, and maybe get to fit newer and much better and brighter kinds of Spotlights into the Kitchen Ceiling and repaint it ;o>

message 4287: by [deleted user] (new)

Definitely grumpy by the time we got home - left here at 2 p.m. and didn't get back until 9 p.m. There was a heck of a lot of traffic about so I came back using a lot of the country roads that I know rather than trudge along with the masses on the main roads.

By the time we'd had something to eat and drink it was 11 p.m. and I'd been up for 24 hours by then - I don't even remember getting into bed :)

It's our Grandson I feel sorry for - he's gone onwards to Sheffield for the day with his uncle to see his mum. He's clocking up nearly as much travelling time as me and the poor bugger has started to develop travel sickness. We had to make a couple of stops on the way back here just so he could get out of the car for a bit of fresh air.

If he did do the journey by train I wouldn't be accompanying him - I've only ever been on a train once and as soon as it started moving, according to a very amused Mrs Grizzly, I went a wonderful shade of green!
That journey was only Rugby to Birmingham but I wanted to get off by the end of the platform :)

I just don't travel well unless it's by road, and preferably with me driving - I found the only way I could survive ferry crossings was by sleeping through the trip and I was put off flying over 30 years ago by a pilot in a de Havilland Chipmunk who rather enjoyed flying upside down with the canopy locked back in the open position!
Imagine looking up to see the ground about 1000 feet away and the only thing between you and it being the straps holding you in your seat!

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Hmmm? ... yet another household drama! ;o>

The Wheels are coming off our otherwise excellent 4 year old Vax and unfortunately and annoyingly they are the sort that can't be fixed or replaced - and so I've spent the best part of 3 whole days and 3 whole nights online (fuelled mainly by Hot Chocolate and slices of Simnel Cake ;o>) searching Site after Site looking at Brand after Brand and Model after Model and wading through hundreds and thousands of Ratings and Reviews to try to pin down THE ultimate in best-ever Vacuum Cleaners.

After almost losing the will to live several times over I think that I have finally found one that could prove to be absolutely ideal for us - and so I ordered it last night off John Lewis where it was on sale cheaper than anywhere else plus it also comes with their 2 Year Guarantee - AND - I also paid a tenner more on top for an extra Added 2 Years Care ... job done! - HALLELUJAH!!! - I can now have my online hours get back to being fun-time once again ;o>

M&D go to our nearest John Lewis to pick it up today, my Dad opens it all up and takes one look at it and says "I'm not using that?!" ... Me: "Why not?" ... Dad: "I don't like the colour" ... Me: "WHAAAAAAAT?!!"

So, okay, it's a little bit Pink? ... and, as most folk know, I don't like the colour Pink either ... but it's much more of a kind of a Purple than it is a Pink or perhaps maybe you could possibly call it a pale and slightly glittery sort of a plummy Lilac? ... WHO FLIPPIN' CARES?!! - it is what it is and what it is is a Vacuum Cleaner for vacuum cleaning!!! ... ARRRGGGHHH!!! ;oO

Val H. | 22189 comments I can't believe how excited I was at getting a new fridge and freezer delivered yesterday! Such mundane items but maybe it was just buying something new - they were replacing items that were both second-hand and had just come to the end of their allotted days - the freezer was running almost non-stop, so hopefully we will see an improvement in our electricity bill. We thought we should downsize - it is just the two of us in the house and a 420lt fridge and a 380lt freezer seemed a bit excessive. However, when we went looking at french-door type single units, the freezer sections seemed tiny. So we opted for a pigeon pair similar to what we had, just a bit smaller (355lt and 280lt). Yesterday was spent emptying both units, cleaning behind and underneath (yuk), waiting for the delivery and then trying to fit everything back in (tight squeeze in the freezer and a lot of items from the fridge are now either in the bin or looking for a new home). If it seems we are over-catering, I suspect a lot of it is to do with buying stuff on special/reduced to clear and stocking up. Nothing goes to waste in this house!

it is exciting! we got a new model recently, and although there's only the 3 of us in the house (well, 3 humans and a spoiled lump of a beardie who needs space for her bulk bought premium chicken in the freezer), opted for a bigger model, primarily, i think, because we're greedy bastids! probably more due to 'his 'n' hers' storage - i drink premium coke, mrs t, diet, i use lurpak, mrs t, 'utterly butterly, i drink whole milk, mrs t, semi-skimmed, etc. it's only because i'm a health freak!
