We have many similar but I can't be bothered either. Nielsen are the same company that does the TV and radio ratings here. I don't get any emails from them (except for my weekly payment) and I haven't had any increase in junk mail (which my ISP automatically puts into a Spam folder) so I'm quite happy with the arrangement which is for 6 months in the first instance.

However, I'm constantly surprised by the amount of free stuff that is to be had out there for not a lot of effort. My older daughter has nearly 16000 Instagram followers (she maybe puts up one post per week if she's lucky) and yet she is constantly bombarded with marketers who send her very expensive items with no expectations that she will promote them (she is very careful never to promote anything that she hasn't tried for herself and has found to be safe/useful/cost effective).

If you don't want to do the cleaning, just say 'no!', rather than throwing yourself on the floor!

Seriously though, I hope you're OK and make a swift recovery. :)

A For Sale sign has just gone up on the house next door! They’re asking £30,000 more than mine was valued at 9 years ago and mine has an extension, so that’s good.
I really hope there won’t be children or dogs, it’s pretty peaceful round here.

I got most of my Spring Cleaning done anyway - including getting all of the Curtains taken down, washed, and put back up, and two large Bookcases completely emptied, cleaned, books sorted (with a couple of very heavy Charity Bags now filled!) and all the rest put back ... so I'm still a happy bunny ;o>

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Wonderful conversation on the Phone this Morning ;o> ...

One of the Vets at our local Surgery rang to see how Mitz is doing now and he very tentatively asked me if Tia was still with us as her Surgery Notes haven't been updated since early January.

As we talked I looked through the French Windows at Mitz and Tia both racing about, dive-bombing each other, and then rolling around on the Lawn with all of their Legs in the air ... Ohhh yeah! ... our precious little bundle of love is most definitely still with us ;o> ... ;o> ... ;o>

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Well I never! ;o> ...

Two Outdoor Grab Rails ordered online from 'Ability Superstore' at 2.45pm yesterday ... registered as Dispatched just 20 minutes later ... 5.30pm Email confirming that Delivery would be before 3pm today ... they actually arrived at 8.15am this Morning ... and Dad has just unwrapped them and taken barely 45 minutes to first remove our old Grab Rails and then fit the new ones to either side of the Back Door! ... TA-DAAA!!! ;o>

message 4125: by suzysunshine7 (last edited Apr 13, 2019 06:39AM) (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments P.S. ... Our (rather snobbishly superior) Neighbour ordered these particular Grab Rails a couple of years ago and has been telling us ever since just how much better they were than the ones my Dad had rushed out to buy from B&Q the day after I got my Diagnosis at the Hospital in December 2010.

As we actually thought our Neighbour's Rails were very good, we politely asked him the other day as to where he got them from, and my Dad ended up in getting taken round to their Back Garden for a close look plus getting given what was almost a 2 hour lecture on just how excellent the quality was, what a great price they were, and on how easy they were to fit as well. We were also given a (very dodgy-looking) Print-out off his Laptop along with idiot-proof Instructions on what they were called, which Website they were on, how to find them on the Website, and how much they cost plus p&p.

Dad thanked him very graciously ... came back and told me the Brand name of them ... I looked them up and looked around, found a much better rated and reviewed Website offering them at the cheapest price online with cheaper p&p plus 20% off in Vat Exemption due to my Disability ... and so, instead of paying £29.95 like him, we have only paid out a total of just £16.25 instead ;o>

We obviously won't be upsetting him by telling him that though ;o>

Two slices of pizza missing?
One for Tia and one for Mitz?

O.M.G.?!! ... that's a very sad and scary sight for anyone to come across!!! ;oO

It says on the Internet that a guy was rushed to Hospital in the early hours of the morning after being attacked in the Street and that the Police are currently searching for a weapon ... I hope he makes it ;oO

Sadly we often get awful things like this happening around here. It's all far too horrible enough as it is, but it feels even worse when it gets to be far too close to Home and much more usual 'normal' everyday life.

I'll be honest, Val, and admit that I don't get any of the local or national references that he uses and there are quite a few words like 'bogan' that I had to look up ... but the universality of understanding that comes from owning little hairy woofers is all too obvious and hilarious ;o>

message 4145: by suzysunshine7 (last edited Apr 16, 2019 04:59AM) (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Well, I haven't got all that much choice, to be honest, as it's a bit difficult here at times - I'm pretty much incapable of just about everything right now, my Dad is in increasingly failing health and can't be trusted or relied upon, and my Mum seems to be struggling somewhat with various issues and isn't getting any younger either.

I've been getting worried about my Mum for a while now - it could all just be down to age-related issues, tiredness and a severe loss of confidence? - but she definitely isn't quite herself these days and it's becoming quite a challenge for me to work out as to how best to deal with how things are here at the moment.

I've held off so far on subscribing to a Catering Company to make all of our lives easier - but I know that I may have to sit myself down and rethink this option through in the near future.

By the way, NEVER EVER get curious about Wiltshire Farm Foods unless you are seriously planning to go ahead with them ... I have been inundated with almost weekly Cold Calls, Texts, and Leaflets through the Post for over a year now and all simply just because I asked them online for some info!

message 4146: by Lez (new)

Lez | 7490 comments Suzy, I was recently laid low with really bad leg pains and could hardly stand up at the cooker. I was curious about Wiltshire Farm Foods and gave them a go. Avoid at all costs! They’re dreadful!
I ordered 4 soups, they’re ridiculously tiny. I used 2 together and they were barely a child’s portion, not even half an average soup-bowl. Scampi and chips were a soggy mess and didn’t taste of anything. Cod, sliced spuds and mixed veg were equally unsuccessful - fish was a solid square, spuds ok, veg was a tiny portion and the whole lot was wet. I think this is because all the meals are microwaved but instructions are to not puncture the film, so everything’s steamed.
I then tried Oakhouse who are infinitely better. Much bigger portions and really tasty. However they are quite expensive.
A problem with these companies is that they only deliver one day a week and need at least a couple of days’ notice.
I’m sticking to supermarkets - choice, price, fresh food, frequent deliveries etc.

message 4147: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16062 comments Ohhh thanks so much for sharing that, Lez Lee ... x

It is something that I have been mulling over and preparing for for a while now - although I don't think that we are quite there yet on needing to do this. I got Brochures last year for several Companies just so that I could get a better idea as to the ranges available, the quality, and the costs involved.

I was thinking of supplementing several of our Meals during the week with these particular kinds of Meals just to make life easier on us without compromising too much on personal choice and on quality.

M&D will always be extremely difficult and incredibly defensive about anything that they insist on seeing as being an insult to their capabilities and independence - but I'm afraid the latest situation here with 'the-new-car-that-has-never-been-even-sat-in' fiasco has rung out huge and loud warning bells for me.

I'm continuing to keep on staying positive, and resourceful, and to always keep an open Mind about whatever might help us all to keep on managing for as long as possible ... but, and I can't quite believe that I'm actually putting my very worst fears into words on here ... if my Mum IS possibly showing the very early signs of developing some kind of Dementia then I desperately want, and need, to be ready for it and to be able to manage to take care of us all.
