Been busy here today, and taking advantage of another cracking day - after waving Mrs grizzly off to work on a full stomach (salmon served with salad), I've mowed the grass.
When I've finished mowing, I rake up all the grass cuttings and flick them under one of the bushes and leave them there to decompose. Doing this today resulted in much squawking and thrashing from one of the Blackbirds who was hiding under the bush! :)

He probably thinks I've go it in for him if it's the same one I nearly stunned with a suet ball the other day!
I don't just put them in the hanging feeders, I also chuck three or four under the bushes around the garden as I've seen the Blackbirds picking at the pieces that fall from the feeders :)

suzysunshine7 | 16045 comments "Remember the Beast? - UK set for more record-breaking temperatures" ...

"The UK could see its warmest ever February day this weekend, forecasters have said, just a year after the country shivered in the icy grip of the Beast from the East.

Scotland has already enjoyed its warmest ever February day after the temperature reached 18.3C (64.94F) at Aboyne in Aberdeenshire on Thursday afternoon. That beat the previous high of 17.9C (64.22F), recorded in Aberdeen in February 1897.

The current record maximum temperature measured in the UK in February is 19.7C (67.46F), which was set in London in February 1998.

Sky weather presenter, Nazaneen Ghaffar, said: "The combination of the southerly winds and sunshine could see temperatures close to 18-19°C (64.4F - 66.2F) in some spots on Friday and the weekend"

The Welsh record temperature for February was set at 18.6C (65.48F) in Powys in 1990, and the highest in Northern Ireland was 17.8C (64.04) in Bryansford in 1998.

The balmy conditions could hardly make a sharper contrast with this time last year, when the Beast from the East brought freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall to much of the UK. The cold snap, which caused huge disruption to businesses, travel and schools, was caused by a ''sudden stratospheric warming", or a big jump in temperatures that saw the UK swept by cold easterly winds.

Nazaneen Ghaffar said it is different this year because high pressure centred over continental Europe is also sitting across the bulk of the UK, making most places dry and sunny. "Winds have been coming from a warm southerly direction, so as a result temperatures have been above average for the time of year," she said"

theDuke | 6495 comments It certainly doesn't feel warm here in Pembrokeshire atm. The usual north easterly wind we get this time of year..is really bone chillingly cold! Nice and sunny though! :)

suzysunshine7 | 16045 comments Hiyah Poppet ... x x x ;o>

I can't quite decide on whether (or should that be weather?) to believe in these predicted Forecasts and immediately invest in some Factor 50 Suncream - or to go with the more likely reality that it might just prove to be a little bit hotter than usual down South somewhere and treat myself to a new Jumper instead ;o>

message 3458: by [deleted user] (new)

Been warm enough here, and supposed to carry on like this for a few more days yet :)

message 3459: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16045 comments Well, I've just priced up some Suncream AND found myself a new lovely warm Jumper while I'm still online - LOL!!! ;o>

Lez | 7490 comments Been warm here in central Scotland for 2 days, not had the heating on, just the electric fire on low.

message 3461: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16045 comments We keep having the Central Heating on Low all day and all night long too - to make sure that we keep the little hairy woofers feeling comfortable and warm enough at all times. I'm not keen on it sometimes being a little too warm at times but it does get to feel cool when you sit up at night.

We have large open Fireplaces and my Mum almost always likes to have her Bedroom Window open as well and so, even on a mild day or night, we can get quite a cold draught making it's way all around the House.

message 3462: by [deleted user] (new)

I've still got the heating set to come on at 15 degrees at the moment as temperatures overnight are still getting down to zero.

Just had supper - had a bash at making a savoury bread and butter pudding from a recipe on the Tesco recipes site and it must have been alright - Mrs Grizzly went back for seconds :)

message 3464: by [deleted user] (new)

Yep, that's the one :)

The only thing I would do differently to the recipe is to dip the bread in the egg/milk before arranging it in the dish to ensure even coverage and avoid the uncoated parts from going too toast-like.
And I skimped on the cheese a bit :)

Lez | 7490 comments I’ve won £30 on Thunderball! That’s £96 this year!

suzysunshine7 | 16045 comments Hmmm? - the Fat Content is a bit on the high side for us (my Dad takes Statins and I'm coming around to thinking about going back onto taking them again) but that can easily be tweaked with by using less Butter, a leaner kind of Bacon and a Half Fat Cheese - and it does sound very tasty! ;o>

And I really REALLY like the sound of the Spicy Apple one at the bottom of the Page - that is most definitely my most favourite kind of a Pud treat! ... seriously yummy! ...

We only use Vitalite Dairy Free Spread anyway, and have been buying leaner bacon, lower fat cheese and skimmed milk for a couple of years now, so the fat content probably was lower :)

Lot of sugar in that Spicy Apple one.

Yeah, I had already guessed that you would be a Recipe Tweaker just like me - LOL!!! And it's the same with the Sugar in the Apple one - I only ever add just enough to satisfy us - the Apple and Fruit will add most of the sweetness all by themselves ;o>

I've never been called a tweaker before :)

The sun has put in a late appearance today - after a foggy start we progressed to hazy and now it's as nice as it has been for the past few days.

That picture of a car makes mine look very clean in comparison.

suzysunshine7 | 16045 comments (*covers Eyes*) ... ! ... NO! - I'm NOT going to go there on that! - LOL!!! ;o>

I've just managed to get Mitz to eat something by handfeeding her a few little pieces of freshly cooked Chicken ... her first Meal in 3 days ;o>

We were told to only just give her the Royal Canin Gastro Intestinal Dog Food - but she has remained absolutely adamant that she won't touch it and, although she still wasn't exactly keen on eating, she must be hungry and it was obvious that she was interested in what I was doing.

I sat on the Kitchen Floor next to her and ever-so-casually ate a little piece of Chicken and then passed her over a piece - and after a couple of chews and some spit-outs she suddenly started joining in and eating ;o>

I only gave her a small amount to set her up for now - and I'll let her work on digesting it first and then try her again with a bit more in a couple of hours time.

message 3477: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, you can't let her starve to death, can you?

Hopefully Mitz will be able to keep that down and progress to eating more, even if only gradually. I assume that she manages to drink enough water?

message 3478: by suzysunshine7 (last edited Feb 23, 2019 07:37AM) (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16045 comments She is drinking a few sips occasionally but not much and so I'm keeping a very close Eye on that. I made the most of the moment with the Chicken as it happened - but the next small handful will be prepared with a little warm Water from the Kettle sprinkled over and soaked into it so that it has the added benefit of more moisture ;o>

I can't believe the Chicken might be the issue but I am wondering if it might be either the wet or the dry version of Royal Canin Sensitivity Control that she has built up a digestive intolerance too? - or possibly the Lamb's Heart that they both love and we often add to keep their Meals that bit more interesting to them?

My Dad is absolutely adamant that he has fed them nothing - but I've caught him out on this far too many times now in finding him feeding them odd bits of his Toast. He does knows that it could possibly be a Wheat Allergy but unfortunately he can't always be trusted to think through what he is doing and to remember this.

I prefer to go with either the wet or the dry versions of their Dog Food maybe now causing issues - or that she has picked up and eaten something utterly disgusting in the Back Garden, while my Back has been turned, and it has subsequently set off some nasty form of Colitis that will continue to take her a while to fully recover from ...

suzysunshine7 | 16045 comments Awww, I love my little Mitz ;o>

Both of us sat on the Floor - me with a bowl of chopped up Chicken balanced on my Knees ... "Mmmm, one piece for me - and one piece for you, yum-yum-yum!" ... "Ooh another one for me AND another one for you, ohhh yes!" ...

"One for m ... "

... and with that Mitz raised one of her Front Legs and placed her Paw on my Arm and looked meaningfully in my Eyes as I raised the piece of Chicken towards my Mouth ... "OHHH?!! - so now it's none for me? - and ALL for you, is it?" ... (*WAG, WAG, WAG goes her Tail*) ... !

HA HA HA HA HA!!! ;o>

message 3483: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16045 comments I'm obviously gutted by her decision to eat her own Meal all by herself ;o>

I mean I just love spending time every couple of hours eating tiny pieces of lukewarm watery Chicken whilst sitting on an ice-cold hard tiled Floor but hey? ... I'll do my very best to get over it! - LOL!!! ;o>

Unbelievable:

A few days of good weather, during which time I have spent maybe an hour a day outside, and I've just noticed that I've already caught the sun - I've gone red on parts of my arms that aren't still tanned and the same with my legs!
I'll bet the back of my neck is the same :)

I'm not going back out now :)

suzysunshine7 | 16045 comments It looked just like a Film Set in the Back Garden first thing this Morning what with all of the rolling and swirling Mists. It was very beautiful and quite mesmerising to watch ... although, as it got thicker and more ethereal and eerie- looking, I did start to wonder if it was becoming a Set for a Horror Film and that any minute now a Zombie Invasion would start to emerge from it and lurch up the Lawn! ;oO
