That's an amazing sight, isn't it?

I have, on a few occasions, seen similar over here with Starlings just outside Stamford.
Also, in the same area, I quite often see loads of Jackdaws or Crows all sitting on the telegraph wires - puts me in mind of The Birds, the way that they are all gathered into quite a small area.

miscellaneous Nagogram Alert!

It's called "The White Coat Syndrome". Many people who go to the doctors and have their blood pressure taken and turns out high, is because they're nervous about being at the doctors office and taking a test, even if they don't realize it. You should have a BP cuff at home, so you can take it in a relaxed atmosphere and compare it throughout the day. Make sure your arm is resting on a surface that is level to your heart, and take it three times a day to get an average. Write down the numbers in a notebook, and bring it with you to your next doctor's appnt.

End of Nagogram

"You should have a BP cuff at home, so you can take it in a relaxed atmosphere...."

Yeah, I know what you're saying but, believe me, there's days where it's a much more relaxed and less stressful atmosphere in the consultation room :)
When the doctor or nurse checks my BP, it's normally best of three throughout the consultation and the readings get lower within that period.

Besides, it's a nice stroll down to the doctors and back :)

Has the petroleum company, who was partly responsible for one of the world's worse oil disasters, when Deeep Water Horizon blew up in 2010.....now ventured into the even murkier waters of S&M?!

A couple of years ago the hospital doctor gave me a BP machine (not a cuff) to wear for 24 hours. The reading was still fairly high, though less than the hosp. or GP. The hospital nurses don’t trust the multi-purpose machines they use, they say they’re very outdated and they don’t use them before operations etc. My sister, who retired from nursing over 12 years ago said they were rubbish in her day!

miscellaneous Yes. BP (British Petroleum) and Obamacare are now offering discreet permanently-locking black onyx day-collar/slave-necklace cuffs for patients who are concerned about their blood pressure. Just sit in a relaxed atmosphere, keep your arm level with whoever, try not to pout.

Yes, Suzy is missed very much when she is not around, I imagine it is quite serious as it takes a lot to keep her down for long. Whatever it is I can only add that she will be in our thoughts and prayers until she blossoms once more like the buds of the coming spring.
Chilly start this morning until around midday, this afternoon was very pleasant, warm and sunny - long may it continue!

message 3316: by [deleted user] (new)

Frosty start here this morning, in fact it's got colder since I got up - the bird bath has now frozen over. The sun has put in an appearance and is starting to burn through the remnants of the freezing fog and temperatures are predicted to make it into the low teens.

Was anybody else aware that 14th - 21st February is National Nest Box Week?
I didn't know a thing about it until I just received an email trying to sell me an "In-store Exclusive SPECIAL OFFER Wooden Nesting Box - ONLY £3.99"

I didn’t know that! I get monthly emails and quarterly magazines from the RSPB and BTO and don’t remember seeing anything from either of them. How odd.

message 3319: by [deleted user] (new)

I am considering putting up a nesting box, once the new fence has been put up on Sunday.
As it is, we have a Blackbird nest in the creepers outside the patio door which we hope will be used again this year, and the Sparrows will probably be nesting up in the gap on the front of the house where a tile is missing just above the lounge window :)

Today started off misty and murky, progressed to hazy and is now overcast. On the plus side, at least it never froze overnight and it isn't raining ..... yet. The last thing I need is to be cramming our old mattress into the back of the car in the pouring rain!

Another dull, overcast day here - not a patch on yesterday.

The new fence is up - the guy was only here yesterday for a total of four and a half hours to rip out and clear away the old fence, fit the panel promised to the neighbour and put up just over 30ft of new fence for us, and take half an hour for his lunch.
He actually apologised for turning up half an hour late (10 a.m. instead of half past nine as he'd been on another job) and for taking as long as he did to do the job!
I thought that he'd done an impressive job working on his own - I'd still be out there now if I was trying to do it :)

suzysunshine7 | 16052 comments I have also been keeping myself busy as well ;o> ...

In between buying extra orders of yet more and more Dog Food right now (and I honestly don't know quite where these two greedy Gannets are putting it because their weights are staying stable!) I have also bought ...

A couple of absolutely fantastic Black Vinyl Covers for my Wheelchair Cushion at great price off eBay - from a really lovely guy called Brian who has very kindly made them up to be exactly how I needed for them to be.

Got a bargain of a buy (also eBay) of a large 4.8 Litre bottle of Fairy Fabric Softener Super Concentrate (240 Washes) for £11.99 including p&p ... that should hopefully last me for absolutely ages now.

Bought lots of our Household essentials off Amazon at such unbelievably silly-low prices all thanks to Subscribe&Save, plus taking up various Bonus Offers, and using Vouchers and Promo Codes on top ... Buscopan, Rennies, Dog Dental Chews, Dog Treats, Toothpaste, etc.

Thrown away our tiny and very old (and cracked as apparently not Heat Resistant) Gravy/Fat Separator for one of these fab 1 Litre Oxo Good Grips instead - while on special offer at just £5 including p&p ...

Pre-ordered 3 x Tomtato Plants for Dad - to be delivered sometime in April.

Have just bought an excellent and colourful selection of beautiful Heat Resistant Non Scratch Solid Silicone Kitchen Utensils by Zeal to replace our rather boring and tired-looking plain Black ones that we have had in daily use for so many years now.

And am just waiting on the Delivery tomorrow of some of these 'Addis Clip & Close Cereal Container, 4 Litre' https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003VYAK0... that thanks again to Bargain Sales plus free Bonus Offers and Vouchers, and Promo Codes added up to costing just £13.95 including Delivery ... for FIVE of them?!! ...

Everyone in our House gets SO excited every time a Parcel arrives these days ;o>

A 4.8 L Fairy Fabric Softener Super Concentrate(240 washes) for £11.99 ain't bad - we usually get the 3L (85 washes) Comfort Pure/Blue Skies 3 for £10 from Farmfoods, and normally have coupons for 10% off from leaflets shoved through the letterbox :)

message 3335: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16052 comments I like the usual Fairy version as well - but have found it quite difficult to track down the Super Concentrate anywhere except just occasionally online these days.

The eBay Listing is here in case anyone else is interested ;o> ...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2831406272...

And there was also an equally great deal on buying two of these from Amazon the other week as well for just a few pence cheaper - but I really didn't need to buy all that much in one go and I wanted to see if this one would manage to arrive safe and sealed through the Post first ... and I'm delighted to say that it did.

message 3336: by [deleted user] (new)

We buy liquid soap in 5L containers for the bathroom and kitchen dispensers, and that has always been delivered without any problems :)

I won't buy super concentrated fabric conditioner as a certain person in our household has no concept of using an appropriate amount - instead filling the compartment in the dispenser drawer up to the maximum mark. Doesn't matter when you're not the one paying for it, does it?

message 3337: by suzysunshine7 (last edited Feb 18, 2019 01:02PM) (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16052 comments ARRRGGGHHH!!! - I have two people in our House who don't ever seem to be able to grasp the difference in doses between using the usual versions or Super Concentrates ;oO

I have the Lid level marked with a piece of Red Tape to remind them ;o>

It isn't just the cost - but that even just ever-so-slightly too much Fabric Softener can make your Laundry feel all sticky when you get it out of the Washing Machine. And it then dries off as a residue that you can see leave a greasy film whenever you use your Tea Towels to clean and dry Glassware.

How's Mitz doing?
Hope you didn't have to sit up all night with her.

message 3346: by [deleted user] (new)

It's a wonderful start to the day here - the sun has just burst through, making it lovely and bright and warming up quite nicely.
Just need to finish putting up the new washing line before the washing machine finishes so the laundry can go outside today rather than using the tumble dryer.
The damn thing got all knotted up as I was unwinding it and it took me about ten minutes to untangle it, during which time my fingers went white and completely numb!
One cup of tea later, and I've got the feeling back in my fingers so it's time to finish the job :)

suzysunshine7 | 16052 comments Grizzlygrump wrote: "How's Mitz doing?

We all did pretty much that in the end. She had terrible Wind, did lots of belching, had three bouts of the runs during the night and her Stomach was making such awful noises.

Poor Tia was very agitated and getting stressed out by Mitz being so agitated and stressed out and both of them kept crying and whimpering - obviously in fear of remembering just how ill Mitz was the last time around.

Mum insisted she was staying up until they both settled but I couldn't go to sleep and so I stayed up as well. Dad went to Bed at 1am instead of his usual 10.30 to 11.30pm - but he was up again by 3am because he couldn't sleep either.

Mum finally went off to Bed at about quarter to 5 because she had a Dental Appointment for some ongoing Treatment at 9.45 this morning and Dad technically stayed up with me but in reality fell asleep in his Chair and slept through until 8.30am.

There was apparently nothing else worth watching with M&D up but one after another of seemingly neverending repeats of flippin' 'Homes Under The Hammer' ALL night long!!! - and so a fun night was NOT had by all! - LOL!!! ;o>

Mitz has settled'ish and has had a couple of very light Breakfasts of nothing but warm freshly cooked Chicken over the last 6 hours and hasn't been ill again ... so far ... but she is very clingy and wide-eyed today ... and poor old Tee is so tired out today that she is all bleary-eyed and keeps on passing out on the Sofa.

I'll give her another Antacid, when she can next have one at Teatime, and we will rush her to the Vets if she doesn't improve soon or starts to take a turn for the worse.

Ohhh the beneficial and boundless joys of owning a precious Pet!!! ;o>

message 3348: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16052 comments Half 11 already - and I still haven't had a mug of Tea yet! ;o>

I've had the Kettle on at least 5 times over the last 6 hours, and I've brewed up for M&D three times. I went looking upstairs for my dirty Mug first thing this morning and put in the Kitchen, then rang the Vets to let them know we might be in later and needed some more Antacid Capsules. I went back in the Kitchen about an hour later and remembered to wash it this time, then Mitz started crying for a Cuddle as I had left her for all of 10 minutes by then!

I went back and wiped dry my Mug in between brewing up the second time for M&D and putting some Laundry on, and I added a Teabag to my Mug about two hours ago and changed the Water in the Kettle and brewed up for M&D when they got back from the Dentists, answered the Phone, came upstairs and sat down, put my Laptop on ... and have just realised I am still thirsty and I still haven't finished making myself that Mug of Tea yet?!! ... HA HA HA HA HA!!! ;o>

I'm off downstairs again in a minute ... and I just hope that I can still remember what it was that I came down for by the time that I reach the bottom step!
