The downside to continuing clear skies is that it is now -4 and my car is frozen solid. Will have to go and defrost it in a minute.

suzysunshine7 | 16046 comments It isn't twinned with Manchester, is it? ;o>

Minus the Heat, of course!

message 3214: by [deleted user] (new)

Minus f-f-f-f-five last night, just what you need when walking round the yard for 20 minutes trying to find a truck, which was completely frozen. Once thawed, the damn thing wouldn't change up through the gears any higher than 6th - bloody automatics! Give me a manual gearbox every time :)

Truck number two was all good, so I picked up my trailer. When checking the tail lift, it ground to a halt halfway out, resulting in an hour in the workshop to fix it before leaving for my delivery. I arrived 10 minutes late, and there was another truck delivering bread on the bay so I had to wait until that one left (we don't always get priority - at a lot of stores it's one in, one out on a first come basis).

When I got home, I checked my emails and found that the delivery company cannot deliver our new mattress today due to "weather conditions", and will now deliver on Tuesday.

When it goes wrong, it really does go wrong. But, on the bright side, only one more potential disaster before it's holiday time :)

suzysunshine7 | 16046 comments Well, M&D braved it out to get two Tins of Dog Meat amongst other essentials only to come back to find our Dog Meat had been delivered and left in the Porch.

I never heard the Doorbell? - so they must have deliberately gone out of their way to sneak it in quietly - being as it has taken them 7 days to deliver a 48 Hour Tracked Parcel - LOL!!! ;o>

That's about right, isn't it?
Had your mum and dad waited in for the delivery, it probably wouldn't have turned up.

I reckon with our mattress, the delivery company, based near Wolverhampton, didn't have anything else for delivery in our area so have decided to better fit it in with their routing for next week. If that's the case, why can't they just be honest and why did they give us today as an option for delivery?

I've sent them a rather terse reply saying that they will have to deliver in the afternoon as I'm having my regular blood pressure check on Tuesday morning and there's no way I'm missing that appointment.

message 3218: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16046 comments If the current Weather does take a turn for the worse, as some Forecasts on the Internet are suggesting that it will, then it would make more sense to get it delivered ASAP instead of putting it on hold now until next week? ... I hope it all works out for you, Poppet ;o>

He definitely got better with age, didn't he?! - LOL!!!

I really miss that fabulous voice singing new Songs.

message 3230: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16046 comments George Michael - I definitely preferred him when he was younger ;o>

Paul McCartney - I've never liked him but I don't think he has aged well at all.

David Bowie - I never liked Ziggy's look but absolutely loved his 'Let's Dance' look. He aged well and only ever looked better and better to me ;o>

Amy Winehouse - was such a terrible mess of dodgy tattoos and self-abuse scars over the last few years of her life ... truly heartbreaking - I couldn't bear to see anyone openly displaying their inner suffering like that and so I avoided watching her on TV and reading about her in the Papers. Her tragic death seemed to be inevitable for far too long.

Michael Jackson - to me he was a deeply disturbed and deluded individual who briefly made fabulous Music until his enormous ego and eccentricities killed him. He looked at his best in the Leather Jacket pre all of his bizarre Surgeries and Skin Whitening.

Madonna - always looks pretty good to me in every reinvention of herself.

Whitney Houston - another tragic 'Amy Winehouse' during her last couple of decades. I loved her clean fresh Girl next-door look but apparently it was all just manufactured for her fans and couldn't have been further from the true reality of her real-life.

Tina Turner - I've always loved her and she has aged very well. Her 'Mad Max' years were amongst her very best though in my opinion ;o>

Phil Collins - looks shockingly frail and vulnerable these days, doesn't he? I think he looked better in his mid years - when he finally came to terms with his Hair! - LOL!!!

Cher - always amazing but I think she went too far on erasing her beautiful and unique looks with Plastic Surgery. I'm not sure I'd immediately recognise her these days?

Mick Jagger - again, as with McCartney, I've never liked him and he hasn't aged well at all.

Bruce Springsteen - apparently another 'Cher' in terms of wiping out all that distinctly made him out to be uniquely him with Plastic Surgery.

Aretha Franklin - (M&D always mistakenly keep on calling her 'Urethra' ... ! ;o>) struggled with her weight and wore some terrible outfits but nevertheless always managed to look good, and sometimes great, on and off throughout her whole life.

Cyndi Lauper - WoW?!! - love her! I'm pretty sure she has had some 'work' done but she has retained her lovely looks and not obliterated them. She always looks amazing ;o>

Annie Lennox - again, I love her! And she has aged beautifully ;o>

Ag .. Agne ... Agnet ... the blonde Girl in ABBA! - never struck me as being stunningly beautiful so much as very pretty. I think she has had 'work' done? - and she looks very good on it although ever-so-slightly less like her original unique self.

And that's about as far as I got before I suddenly realised that there were SO many more Pictures to look at! ... HA HA HA HA HA!!! ;o>

suzysunshine7 | 16046 comments I remember kidding my baby Brother into believing that Meatballs were actually made from Meat Ba ... ERRR! - yes well! - I was only very young myself at the time and, in my own defence, he was always SO incredibly gullible that it was just TOO easy to convince him of all sorts of utterly daft stuff!!! ;o>

In fact, he thought that Bacon came from Cows right through until he was well into his 20's!!! ... and that was a deliberate lie involving the whole family ... because we used to holiday twice a year at a Farm in Constantine and he absolutely adored a grumpy one-eyed Pig there called Nelson who eventually died of old age.

The Farmer's Wife innocently joked with him on our very first day back there that his Breakfast Bacon and Sausage might well be made of his beloved Nelson! - and so, of course, an almightly hysterical tantrum started to kick off at the Table - well, he was only about 7 or 8 at the time. We had no choice but to tell him that Bacon actually came from Cows to stop all Hell from breaking loose and the Holiday being completely ruined - LOL!!!

We then forgot all about it after that and didn't realised that he still hadn't come to learn of or to know any different until he somehow mentioned it in passing to his Mates at the Pub and they just fell about laughing at him and then put him straight! He was not only mortified but also absolutely furious with us when he got back home that night!!! ;o>

suzysunshine7 | 16046 comments You can go off having little hairy woofers in your life! - LOL!!! ;o>

Mitz had us in turn up and down the Stairs every hour or so all last night. She was a little bit sick at one point so I get that she wasn't feeling well at least once - but the other times she wanted to run down the Garden barking, or have a Cuddle on the Sofa, and was even waiting in the Hallway with Tia's Sock Toy in her Mouth all ready for me to play with her at ten to five in the Morning!!! ;oO

Tia, bless her little furry boots, just kept rolling over on the Sofa so that she faced the Wall instead of Mitz every time we came in and put the Lamp on - she just wanted to sleep and wanted nothing at all to do with Mitz's mad moonlight antics.

None of us got much sleep but nevertheless it was hard not to laugh out loud at her eager and earnest calls up the Stairs to us of ... "is it nearly Morning yet?!" ... ;o>

message 3238: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16046 comments We've had Cuddles and so I'm just about to quietly go off to Bed ... and she is lying flat out on her Back on her Duvet - but I can tell that she is covertly watching my every move ... the little Monkey! ;o>

message 3239: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16046 comments And again, one of them was a bit sick last night - but we aren't sure who? ;o<

Is it so wrong of me to hope that it was Mitzi, who is obviously still recovering? Tia has become less energetic over the last week, is not quite so joyfully bouncy in herself, and she has been even clumsier than she usually normally is - so I'm watching her very carefully at the moment.

I think, if it is Mitz, then it could just be Reflux - and if it happens again overnight then we'll bob her down to the Vets for another few days of Antacids.

Crikey lady, you made short work of those!

I've taken up the Dechox 2019 challenge for this month, as intiated by the British Heart Foundation, so, no chocolate for me this month. 3 days in...it's going well! :)

message 3243: by [deleted user] (new)

Dechox 2019?

Given that we hardly eat any chocolate at all, that one would be far too easy :)

We tried the dry January, and were fairly successful - the only alcohol consumed was a bottle of ruby port which I received as a birthday present. That got used up in things like Bolognese sauce rather than just being drunk.

suzysunshine7 | 16046 comments Well yesterday the Snow was still an inch thick everywhere and showing no sign of melting anytime soon ... but today we have woken up to find it has all completely vanished without a trace overnight ;o>

I'm hoping that is just about it for Snow this year - and that the much predicted 'worst weather is yet to come' fails to materialise. I know that I sadly don't get to go out anywhere anymore, but knowing that even if I had the opportunity I still couldn't go out, only feels worse somehow.

I'm afraid I'm having a bit of a down day here. I've tried so hard to keep on staying patient and positive and hopeful - but sadly Mum has not even so much as sat in her new Car since she got it - and I'm not sure now if she ever will? She keeps on with making excuses and putting off getting familiar with it in favour of still getting lifts with Neighbours to Shops - and I won't presume on them to get me out as well and so I'm still stuck housebound without any sign of parole or respite in the near future.

I'm just glad that I haven't renewed my Gym Membership yet because I'd also be getting upset over losing money on it. I know my Mum only too well and had a very bad feeling that this might be how things would be, but then, when they suddenly bought the new Car at Christmas I was so hoping to be proved wrong. I'm thinking now that it will probably just sit there on the Drive until next Christmas and then finally end up in being sold on ;o<

Ahhh well, the dream was so nice while it briefly lasted. And, although I'm having a bad and sad day today, I'm still not going to be giving up or writing myself off just yet. Tomorrow is another day! - and things can surely only get better now ;o>

Drambuie?! - WoW! - that's a blast from the past! ;o>

I had an elderly Aunt who only ever drink Drambuie because, despite being disapprovingly teetotal, one of my Uncles had convinced her once that it was a Medicinal Tonic!

I say, once, because I'm absolutely sure that she knew, or got to know, that it wasn't - LOL!!! - but we all went along with it as she was such an utter misery when sour-faced sober and such a lovely lady while ever-so-slightly tipsy! ;o>

We've been fortunate here, having only had one brief flurry of snow which resulted in about an inch on the ground which quickly disappeared. That was a fun day for driving a truck - wheel-spinning when pulling away and locking up under braking!
It's mainly been sub-zero temperatures round here until today, which is the first time that the bird bath hasn't been frozen over in over a week.

With all your trips to the vet, (how are your hairy woofers now?) I presumed that your mum was using her new car and would be comfortable in using it now. Is there not still a chance of talking your mum into using her car?

message 3250: by suzysunshine7 (last edited Feb 04, 2019 06:01AM) (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16046 comments She gets very defensive and extremely annoyed at just the mere mention of her new Car. She has barely driven in over a year now and I think that she might have left it too long and lost too much confidence to want to restart? She prevaricates by nature and settles for things far too easily until they end up becoming a serious issue - and she has unfortunately got far too used to not driving.

She kept on with saying that she needed a Booster Cushion first and foremost and so I got her one on Click&Collect over 4 weeks ago - a Neighbour drove her down in the new Car to collect it, she tried it out in the Car Park outside the Shop and decided it was perfect, and then to my amazement and great dismay I saw that the Neighbour had also driven her back home in it again.

Then, a few days ago, M&D decided that it needed moving much further up the Driveway - and I just couldn't believe my Eyes when I saw her give the Keys to my Dad so that he could do it for her?! When my Mum makes her Mind up there is just no getting around her - and she seems to have made up her Mind that she is not going to be driving this Car any time soon? She keeps saying she is too busy and hasn't had any spare time yet, or she is too tired - and she has also used the little hairy woofers being ill and then the Snow as excuses as well.

If she won't even sit in it then she is never going to get around to driving it, is she? ;o<
