suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Interesting? ... I got an Email this Morning to say my second Furrybaby Fleece would be Dispatched earlier than the Estimated Date quoted - which I already had guessed at as the first one came within only two days of it being ordered.

However, I've been thinking that we really need two more? We need at least one more so that we can have them generously spread over each side of the Sofa and the Arm-rest too that, by design, has a small part of Wood Frame exposed that I'd much rather that Tia didn't rest her Chin on as she sometimes does. And then there is the large Dog Bed as well that Mitzi prefers to stretch out and sleep on for most of night (while Tia tends to prefer the Sofa first and foremost) - and it is only fair that Mitzi gets to have one on her main Bed as well.

I went back into Amazon and cancelled my previous Order as to buy two together gives you a 5% Discount at the Checkout - and just after I clicked on two on the Product Page suddenly up flashed an Amazon Top-Up thingy? I clicked on it and discovered it was an Offer to buy a minimum of £40 in Credit (Amazon Gift Card) and get an extra Free £5 added! So, I've just done that, waited a couple of minutes for it register in my Amazon Account and then used 2/3's of it to buy two more Furrybaby Fleeces ;o>

I've bought similar Offers on Amazon Gift Cards but I've not come across it being called Amazon Top-Up before? - and getting an extra £5 added for Free is a very welcome Offer indeed ;o>

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Ohhh, I'd really love to think so, but I doubt it, and so I'll settle for being the Duchess of Delightful Discounts instead! - LOL!!! ;o>

I just thought that I'd pass info on this Offer on as it only showed up when I clicked on the Quantity Button for 2 Fleeces instead of 1 and disappeared again when I clicked it back on 1 - so other folk may not get to see this Offer show up when they are shopping yet they may still be eligible for it ... and once bought for £40 to get the Free £5 you have the usual 10 years allowed to use up any credit on Amazon Gift Cards.

The Main Terms and Conditions of the Amazon Top Up Promotion are :

Get an extra £5 added to your Gift Card Balance when you Top Up £40 or more in a single order on Amazon.co.uk ("Offer").

In order to qualify for the Offer, you must: (1) have received an invitation directly on Amazon.co.uk; (2) click the button 'Click to register for the Top Up reward’; and (3) Top Up at least £40 in a single order on Amazon.co.uk by 31st December 2018, 11:59PM (GMT).

For qualifying orders, an additional £5 will be automatically applied to the Gift Card Balance of the Amazon.co.uk account used for Top Up, after the qualifying Top Up order has been processed.

In the case of Auto Top Up, the reward will be applied after the order is processed and delivered to your Gift Card Balance. An e-mail notification will be sent to you to confirm the application of your £5 Amazon.co.uk Gift Card reward.

The amount processed in your Top Up order and the £5 reward can both be checked on the Gift Card Balance page.

The Offer is limited to one £5 Amazon.co.uk Gift Card reward per customer/primary e-mail address.

This Offer may not be combined with any other promotional offer.

... however, I managed to access the Offer once again on another Amazon Account without 'an invitation' by searching for ...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/b?ie=UTF8&am...

... and then logging in, going back to the Page and refreshing it.

And, although it doesn't work with any other Promotions in buying the Credit, once bought the Credit on your Account will work like any other Payment on buying Sale and Subscribe & Save items that have already got discounted promotions on them.

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments I had a bad night with the little hairy woofers as they were up and down and really restless all night - and I can hardly get any sleep at night right now anyway in case Tia suddenly takes ill and needs us ... so we are all feeling a bit "Ruff" today ;o>

Consequently, I've just spent half an hour trying to eat a bought-in Baked Potato whilst sitting squeezed in on the Sofa between an extremely over-friendly furry friend to each side of me - with both of them eagerly and earnestly pleading for their most favourite bit of my Lunch ... a few small blobs of melted Cheese from off the top! ;o>

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments CORRR! - it's wickedly c-c-c-cold outside today!!! ;o>

Heinz Tomato Soup for Breakfast to warm up and get going - followed by some Scrambled Egg on Toast.

Mitz is limping quite badly on her Front Left Leg - I think perhaps the 5am Duffing-up Session was just a bit too rough this Morning?!! I've stroked and squeezed and massaged from her Shoulder to her Toes and there is no obvious injury or any sign of where she might have any pain so I think she might have wrenched her Shoulder?

I've given her a half-dose of Tia's Loxicom to take the edge of it and they are both blissfully cuddled up and passed out on the Sofa together. If she is still limping this afternoon though then it's back to the Vets again ... only with her this time around!

Thank God for Pet Insurance! - LOL!!! ;o>

Martin O' | 2196 comments Went to see Crimes of Grindelwald tonight. Must say I came away a tad disappointed as I really enjoyed the first one. It does have some very good moments and overall it's enjoyable enough but suffers from getting entrenched in slow plot development as it is obviously setting things up for the next installment. Much darker in content and at times seems muddled, hopefully all will be revealed presuming part three makes it to the big screen.

When we went to bed last night the cars were frozen solid. Having not long got up, I was expecting to have to defrost my car before going anywhere but am pleasantly surprised to find that it had warmed up overnight so scraping will not be necessary :)

Got to sneak off into town early as it's Mrs Grizzlys' birthday today and I haven't yet got her anything. I would have gone yesterday morning when I finished work, but I managed to injure myself taking off the first cage at my first delivery yesterday - I twisted funny and ended up with what felt like a trapped nerve in my neck! From then on, the slightest wrong move left me in swearing agony and barely able to do anything else for the next few minutes.
After a good rest overnight, things are much better now, though still not back to 100%. As always seems to be the case with me, these things happen just a I'm about to have my rest days so at least I've got a bit more time to recover properly, provided I get Mrs Grizzly a nice birthday present, obviously :)

I've completely lost track of all the recent Films coming out, Martin, but I did see something about this one online the other day. It is SO disappointing when a Film doesn't come together well and hold it's own when part of a series but, as you say, it could be just setting things and Characters up for the next one - and that one could be absolutely amazing and turn out to be the best of all ;o>

We went to see this Tuesday afternoon, in a near-empty cinema so could choose the premier seats!
Most reviews of the film agreed it was like setting up a chess board for a future match to be played in one of the next 3 planned films, so I went not expecting too much. How wrong was I! I loved the film, myself, although I am a lover of the Harry Potter World - hence the origins of this thread on the Amazon HP Book 7 thread. For lovers of the HP books and films, there are so many links - some more subtle - to the HP franchise, so to an extent, the film is like returning to an old friend.
There is a return to Hogwarts (albeit in 1927) so they filmed at Leavesden, and revisited a particular lesson that Harry, Ron, Hermione and Neville in particular experienced. Some names used helped identify characters referred to in the HP era, and Jude Law played a good role as younger Dumbledore.
It allowed them to not only revisit the UK Ministry of Magic, but they also showed the inside of the US MOM and the French MOM in Paris. (The means of gaining entry to the Paris MOM was particularly neat).
They revisited using portkeys and showed lots of wand action, so I think it will appeal to HP fans everywhere.
Then, as this is part of the Magical Beasts series, they showed lots of new beasts, which was fun.
The opening sequence was action packed and together with other scenes, it def harked back to scenes shown in the HP films.

There were some cons, as well, I thought. Def the film "is to be continued", but they did that with HP and the Deathly Hallows, and I enjoyed this one in its own right as you can just sit back and bask in the cgi fantasy effects if you wish. It is easy to be overwhelmed by the range of new names and characters and can be hard keeping up - although a bit easier if you are familiar with HP.
My one query was over the role of Johhny Depp as Grindelwald. Visually he looks different to other roles, but vocally it is still the usual JD. He is meant to be one of the most powerful wizards of all time, but so far I'm not so sure he is more intimidating than was Voldemort - but let's see how he turns out.
IIRC the books refer to Dumbledore's battles with Grindelwald as 'good v evil' and at the time their spat happened was likened to dealing with Nazism. Interesting then to see where Grindelwald's hideout was towards the end of the film.
JKR revealed much about Dumbledore's character, and this was hinted at in the film. There is also a neat twist at the end of the film.
Basically, I think if unenthusiastic reviews put people off going to see the film, poor turn out could signal the death knell of the series, as happened with the Narnia series. I was really looking forward to seeing how they would have treated The Magician's Nephew and The Last Battle, so feel cheated.

I came away from The Crimes of Grindelwald in a buoyant mood and looking forward to the next, not disappointed at all.

message 2469: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Not me?!! ;o>

They start by rolling around against or on top of each other and putting Paws on each other Faces and play-biting on each other Legs ... and then they end up with Mitz on her Back underneath Tia with her Legs up kicking at Tia while Tia stands over her and play-bites Mitz back ... then Mitz races off and they play chase up and down the Stairs and round and round the Dining Room until they get tired ... finishing off with jumping on and off the Sofa and play-fighting on top and underneath it until Mitz jumps on the Knee of one of us which declares her submission and the need for sanctuary. Tia doesn't tend to take this as being final so they sometimes continue around the person that they are using!

I usually shout out "Mitzi is Barleys! - Tia wins again!" ... and then we celebrate the 'glorious victory' with a yummy Dog Treat ... for them, not us, obviously! ;o>

I trust Mrs Tech is none the worse for her lockdown experience. It must have been a bit alarming at the time - especially as the reason why is not always known by those affected.

We've had a few stressful days here. After Daughter No.1's water broke at 1.30am on Wednesday she was sent home twice by the hospital as she was not considered to be far enough along. Eventually she was admitted about mid-day Thursday and induction was started but again progress was very slow. When the pain became too intense she was given an epidural and then induction had to be re-started. Little girl was born at 7.39am today(so technically a 54 hour labour), good weight 3.39kg. She is currently in the pediatric ward where they are monitoring her for glucose levels, heart rate and temperature (potential infection) but we were able to see and hold her this afternoon and she is quite gorgeous (and, believe me, I'm not the gushy type) - good colour, very contented, loads of dark hair. Mum and Dad are exhausted and could do with a good sleep which may not be possible in a six-bed maternity ward. They expect baby to be monitored until Sunday - mainly precautionary and probably best for all concerned. You feel really lucky when you see all those humidicribs and babies and families that are doing it really hard. I'm just glad it's all over and I might get a decent night's sleep myself. Last two days have been somewhat fraught.

With regards to my note on the link between Grindelwald and Nazism, I found this earlier today:

Rowling apparently planned for Grindelwald to have been killed in this epic duel (this is likely to happen in perhaps 3 films time?). Here are her comments in an interview from 2005:
ES: Our other “Ask Jo” question [is] about Grindelwald, which I’m sure you’ve been gearing up for us to ask.
JKR: Uh huh.
ES: Clearly -
JKR: Come on then, remind me. Is he dead?
ES: Yeah, is he dead?
JKR: Yeah, he is.
ES: Is he important?
JKR: [regretful] Ohhh...
ES: You don’t have to answer but can you give us some backstory on him?
JKR: I'm going to tell you as much as I told someone earlier who asked me. You know Owen who won the [UK television] competition to interview me? He asked about Grindelwald [pronounced "Grindelvald" HMM…]. He said, “Is it coincidence that he died in 1945,” and I said no. It amuses me to make allusions to things that were happening in the Muggle world, so my feeling would be that while there's a global Muggle war going on, there's also a global wizarding war going on.

So there are parallels between Grindy and Adolf!

Just had a few long, busy days at work, following just the one day off last Thursday so the tiredness has been cumulative and I've not really had much time or inclination to do anything beyond work, eat and sleep.

One of them is roughly about 12 foot tall by 8 foot wide now and it makes up one corner of the line of Bushes and Trees that define the boundary across the bottom of our Garden ;o>
