I log on - see they are in the box, do a quick head count and then get out. I don't want to see them sitting on that ledge! I did like the photoshop pic on the Facebook page where someone had drawn a cage around the box.

But many of them aren't as pretty - I do like the look of that fancy green leather binding. The eBay one is looking quite reasonable compared to a similar one on ABE for £1,191.65!
Did you ever have any luck using ABE? I've ordered more than a dozen books through them this year, two in the last few days including this one (hardback for about £15 including postage):

Yes, I know that they aren't as beautifully bound and that, if you were going to splash out and get it, you really would want the best and for it to sit pride of place on your Bookcase, wouldn't you? I was only curious as to just how rare a Book it might be and what the chances were of buying it elsewhere, that's all ;o>
Well, I tried out ABE as you know, but I got a rather grotty Book sent by the Seller on there - and so I sent it back and bought another Sue Grafton Omnibus off eBay which was much cleaner and far less used.
Have I read it yet? ... ERRR? - no! ... but I do keep on with meaning to and so I definitely will do one day - LOL!!! ;o>
That YouTube Link is quite fascinating - thanks Val ;o>I love being able to see the pictures online to see if it's worth getting.
I'd better get myself a Hot Chocolate and get off to Bed ... I promised myself an early night tonight, and it still is for me being as it's just turned 1.35am here ... and so I'd better get offline! ;o>x Nighty-Night x Sleepy-Tight x and very Sweet Dreams x
Sorry that you had a bad experience. I bought a book recently, a Scottish biography published in 1939, never giving a thought to where it was coming from. It turned out to be a bookshop specialising in military history and it arrived in beautiful condition and so meticulously packaged that I felt I had to write and commend them on their service. Had a lovely email in reply too. Shame I'll probably never have to use them again.
Ohhh, it was the Seller at fault and not ABE - a 'Like New' Book should not have dubious stains on the Pages and felt tip scribble all over the first Page! - LOL!!! ;o>I would buy off ABE again, if I wanted a Book and the price was right.
x Nighty-Nighty to you both x

It must have been the paperback edition because it was very flexible as she flicked through it. Kudos to Bibliophile Books though - it's a clever way to entice you to buy a book. I rather like the one on New Forest Painters

Val, have you heard of the Pitmen Painters (The Ashington Group) ?“It was a small society of artists from Ashington, Northumberland, which met regularly between 1934 and 1984. Despite being composed largely of miners with no formal artistic training, the Group and its work became celebrated in the British art world of the 1930s and 1940s.”
Lee Hall (Billy Elliot) wrote a really good play about them and there’s an excellent documentary by Robson Green.

No, new to me Lez. Thanks for that. I'll watch that in the next few days. Looks right up my alley.
I keep looking in at the wrong time - everyone is asleep! :)
If you have the time (and the Stomach for it too) try from about 8.30pm our time and onwards - as it is Dawn there and they are often up and about and eagerly anticipating the first, or the second, of several Breakfast Meals in between their sleepy dozes ;o>
I can't look anymore right now because Mum is asleep while balanced on the thin edge of the Shelter Board Wall! I think it is her way of making sure that the Chicks don't go getting it into their fluffy Heads to try venturing out of the Nest Tray in the dark?! ;oO
Thanks suzy, I'll have a look in later :)
Been busy these past few days - have done the rounds of some of the shops in Peterborough on Monday and went round Spalding yesterday, looking for odds and ends for Christmas stocking fillers.
As we both get fed up of traipsing round the shops, we've not been anywhere today and have instead done the housework and laundry between us and I am now in the middle of cooking a lamb korma and making up some lamb and potato pies to go into the freezer :)

Bacon Butties followed by Fruit Salad & Yoghurt for Breakfast ;o>A dull grey day here and a bit too cold too - but it has stayed dry for a few days now and so all the little hairy woofers's Bedding is out on the Line drying and airing.
I think my Laptop should be arriving today ... and I've got Butterflies about it maybe getting damaged or even lost in transit! ;oO
I've had THAT email this morning .... "Your car insurance is due for renewal, please find attached your renewal quote".
Here we go, then. How much more do they want and how long am I going to have to spend looking around for somewhere offering a price I'm prepared (NOT happy) to pay?
To my surprise, the quote is actually about 15% less than it was last year so that'll do for me :)

I've settled for Marmite on toast, and might have a fruit and yoghurt smoothie before we go out - got a lot of boxes accumulated from everything we order online which need to go down the tip, then onto the opticians so Mrs Grizzly can have her glasses adjusted and finish up with a bit of shopping for a few essentials (maybe a white Twin Peaks) :)
The weather here is, as far as I'm concerned, very nice - blue skies, bright sunshine and a slight breeze with temperatures in the mid-teens, as it has been all week so far. Wandering around Spalding on Tuesday, Mrs Grizzly was all wrapped up in her big coat while I was quite happily strolling around in, yep, you've guessed it - t-shirt and shorts :)
All of our laundry has been done, and dried outside. The only disappointment is that there is not enough sun reaching the grass for long enough to dry it out sufficiently for mowing, so that's probably it for this year, especially as the clocks go back this weekend.

YAYYY!!! - a whole extra Hour given back to us all!!!Now? ... what to do with 60 extra Minutes? ... ! ;o>
I'd actually forgotten about the Twin peaks Taste Challenge - don't forget to let us know what you think of it?! Tech hasn't reported back yet but I'm guessing he is still far too busy taste-testing his billionth bar to post! - LOL!!!

Grizzly - all our cardboard boxes go in the recycling bin, I get a lot of exercise demolishing the large ones!
I think that Grizzly is still trying to get rid of all the many Boxes he used as part of his House Move ... he probably still has enough to fill about 20 Wheelie Bins?! - LOL!!!Some people sell on all of their House Move Boxes on eBay - which sounds like rather a good idea if they are in good condition ;o>
None of these boxes are from moving house - we were rid of them about 12 months ago now :)
The problem is we are lazy - instead of flattening the boxes as we get them and putting them in the recycling, we just open the door from the dining room to the garage and chuck them in there, always convincing ourselves that we'll sort them out 'later'. Well, six months down the line, 'later' has finally come round, being as we can't move in the garage! :)

HA HA HA HA HA!!! - I'm amazed you haven't lost Phoebe under them all! ;o>You need a Lez Lee in your Garage!!!
Many years ago, Kwiksave and Morrisons used to pile all their boxes beyond the checkouts and by the doors. Really useful.
They used to do that here until only a few years ago - and some of them still do over Christmas time so people can store Fruit & Veg in their Shed or Garage freeing up space elsewhere.
white 'twin peaks'?they're ok. to have a chunk now and then is nice, but above that i'd have to say verging on sickly.
4/10
Well, no Laptop as yet? - it was dispatched Lunch-time on Tuesday to a Parcel Shop Drop-off Point, collected by the Courier at Lunch-time on Wednesday, and seems to have spent most of the day today at the 'Rugby Hub'.I guess it will come tomorrow instead which is a bit of a pain because I'll be at the Vets with Tia first thing in the Morning to get her checked over as she hasn't been well (a continually watering Eye for several days and an occasional heavy drool coming from one side of her Mouth) and then onto the Hospital for me for what might be the rest of the day.
It should be safe left in the Porch but I'd much rather receive it in person.

Your parcel is stuck at the main Rugby hub?
That's most unlike Hermes :)

There seems to be a few shops closing down round here - The Poundland from which I liberated the only white Twin Peaks I could see is shutting for the last time in two weeks.
Also, the local Homebase will be closed by Christmas so they are having an 'Everything Must Go!' sale. We decided to pop in to see what was left, not knowing how long the sale had been on.
One of the first things Mrs Grizzly spotted was a 5' x 7' rug in a nice red and grey pattern, but it didn't have a price on it. Some of the other rugs in the same area were smaller and priced at £70 or £80 (before discount) so we were expecting this one to be priced similarly. Mrs Grizzly didn't want to risk leaving the rug where it was while finding out a price in case someone else took a shine to it, so I ended up putting this rug on my shoulder and carting round the store for nearly half an hour while we looked at everything else.
That lugging around was worth it in the end - when we got to the tills and asked for a price check, it came up as £31 - bargain! :

anyhoo, of course tonight is halloween nowhere in the world except for kilmarnock - everywhere else is just so 5 days ago! reason being (back in the day when you got paid on a friday) you'd still have your pay to buy sweeties for the weans, before you blew it on whisky! some would say that it's the only day of the year when the undead don't walk the streets of killie! too much fun!

Sheffield Council pay-day was on the Wednesday nearest the end of the month. This was never explained.
Had my flu jab this morning - it has an extra ‘boost’ this year for us oldies. For the first time I had a bad reaction. About 2 hours after it I felt very dizzy and faint (not like my usual vertigo) and had a muscular sort of pain from shoulder to hip on the side I had the injection. Quite scary. It faded after about 3 hours but I came close to phoning NHS 24. I hope it actually works this time.
What a day!
I've seen one o' clock three times today while at work.
