I find it sad, but then I always find penguins sad for some reason :-(
I’d like to know the story behind it. What’s a baby penguin doing in Japan, indoors and covered in a cloth and newspaper?

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments HA HA HA HA HA!!! ;o>

Honestly though, did you really think that I would find a poor little Baby Penguin being kept in an Apartment as someone's Pet to be sweet or cute?!! ;oO

I'm not keen on any Birds being kept captive - Dogs and Cats who have plenty of room and their own freewill about when and how to use it feels companionable and fair and reasonable - but keeping beautiful creatures with Wings that live for and long to fly free just feels cruel and wrong to me.

If I see any kind of a Bird in a Cage it always really upsets me - as does the sight of any Fish just endlessly swimming around and around in tiny bowls ... sometimes with nothing else in them but just the Water.

message 2155: by [deleted user] (new)

Must be something about Cockatiels -we had one one that used to like bursting out from underneath the newspaper that someone was reading and also used to squirm his way up underneath peoples' tops, then sticking his head out and biting chins!
He was a sod for letting himself out of his cage in the mornings then pulling the cover off his cage. Quite a character but never a talker :)

message 2156: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments I'm so glad you let him (or let him let himself) out of his Cage ;o>

message 2157: by [deleted user] (new)

He was let out every day until he worked out how to lift the sliding door on his cage. After that, there was just no point in even closing the cage door :)

Lez | 7490 comments Our first family budgie (Timmy) liked to live dangerously, we had a coal fire and he used to stand on the fireguard and shout at the flames. Don’t know how his little feet didn’t burn.
Other fun things were landing on my knitting needles, running round the room along the picture rail, riding on the carpet-sweeper, hiding under the settee, and bathing in the salad bowl before eating the lettuce.
His party piece was joining in the ‘Bouncy, bouncy’ chorus of Bobby Vee’s ‘Rubber Ball’. He’d have been popular on You-Tube!

I'm watching the Pom Poms being fed and marvelling yet again at just how much they have grown in only a couple of days. They certainly enjoy all of their Meals - there's been no complaints from any of them, has there?! ;o>

Although I am wondering if, when adolescence kicks in, there will be any typically teenage rebellion ... "Awww, Mum! - it's not raw Pigeon AGAIN, is it?!!" ... or ... "Mum, Dad - I've decided to become a Vegan! Can I have a Green Salad for Tea tonight?!"

message 2163: by [deleted user] (new)

The Midnight Masterpiece tonight is a Cottage/Shepherds/call it what you will pie which I've just spent ages slaving over.
Now I'm just waiting for the word to put the oven on and finish cooking it :)

message 2165: by [deleted user] (new)

Grated extra mature cheddar and halved cherry tomatoes.

I've just had Mrs Grizzly on the phone - "Just leaving Norwich, home by midnight", so now I've got two hours to myself. How to pass the time?
I know, I'll sample this Twin Peaks bar that was sitting on the table when I got home from work this afternoon :)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments WoW?!! - I wonder where that came from?!! ... ;o> ... ;o> ... ;o>

I am expecting a completely honest opinion, by the way, on this Twin Peaks Taste Testing - and so it's perfectly okay to say so if you weren't impressed and don't like it ;o>

message 2167: by [deleted user] (new)

So far this morning I have taken care of the washing up from last night, been to the Doctor to have my blood pressure checked, hung out the laundry, replenished the bird feeders, washed out the bird bath and now I'm off to do the shopping.
I really do enjoy a nice relaxing day off work :)

Twin Peaks Taste Challenge update - it is currently untouched and still in the wrapper as some sadist decided to tape up both ends of the wrapper and I can't get in!

Mrs Grizzly opened the parcel as she assumed from the shape of it that it was a jewellery box containing a bracelet and was very disappointed to find a chocolate bar :)

And now the sun has just put in an appearance - looks like being another gorgeous day here.

Martin O' | 2196 comments In town shopping last Monday, paid a visit to Poundland and bought a Twin Peaks bar. Verdict, I much prefer Toblerone!

message 2170: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Good for you, Martin ;o>

So that's tech for it, me wavering between a Yes and a No, and you against it.

I like the way that this is coming together. I do hope that we try this out again on a few other new things - as I think it's rather fun sharing in a little something more than just our usual Group Forum Posts ;o>

message 2171: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments By the way, Martin, I read online yesterday (so it may not be entirely accurate or completely true of every Store) that Home Bargains have just started with stocking up on and selling their Toblerones for a £1 - presumably in a fun yet also competitive way of responding to Poundland's Twin Peaks being back on sale ;o>

message 2172: by suzysunshine7 (last edited Oct 11, 2018 05:42AM) (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments I'm guessing that B&M will also be selling Toblerones cheaper as well? - so it'll be a Win-Win for everyone who loves this particular kind of Chocolate right now ;o>

One extra-special Chocolate Bracelet just for Mrs Grizzly ;o> ...

message 2174: by [deleted user] (new)

Right! - having used a professional opening device (Mrs Grizzly, and that cost me the first chunk), I have now sampled the Twin Peaks bar and here is my verdict;

I actually found it quite hard to break off a chunk, as there isn't too much to be able to get hold of - Toblerones are much easier to break apart in my opinion, even the large ones.
The chocolate is quite sweet and couldn't eat a whole bar in one go, but milk chocolate has always been my least favourite variety - I much prefer white or dark, in that order.
I thought that the nougat pieces were much smaller in comparison, but also quite crunchy.
Overall, I don't think that there's that much difference between the two and if push came to shove, I'd most likely go for the Twin Peaks due to the price - it's definitely better value for money.

My thanks, suzy, for supplying the sample bar and I must say that, having seen the cost of the postage, I feel really guilty for having the cheek to ask you to send me one.

I see that the white chocolate variety should be available from tomorrow so I'm going to make the effort to go and get one. If you want me to get you one too, suzy, then just say the word :)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Awww, that's very kind of you, Grizzly ;o>

Unfortunately I never got to go out in the end, as my Dad wasn't well enough to be left alone for long enough for my Mum to take me out, so a Neighbour who was already going to Poundland anyway (for the same reason) very kindly picked me some up.

I shared two of them with M&D and the other two have mysteriously disappeared as well? It must be those pesky Garden Fairies at it again! - sneaking in, and tucking in, and then leaving all of those empty wrappers in the top drawer of the Sideboard by my Mum's Chair in the Lounge! ;oO

I am still hoping to get to go out in the next week or so though so I'll be able to buy myself a White Twin Peaks then ... just so long as our tech hasn't bought up the entire Stock for the UK and eaten himself into a spectacular Sugar stupor by then?!! - LOL!!! ;o>

OMG?!! - the Pom Poms are growing up SO fast! ;o>

They are doing a lot of experimental Wing extending and flapping - and are even imitating their M&D by doing a few amateur grooming sessions on themselves every now and then too.

I'm just wondering how on Earth all three of them (plus a Parent!) are still going to be able to fit inside that Nest Tray in around a week's time?!!

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Awww? - well, that's Breakfast Number One over with and Mum is already off out in search of Breakfast Number Two. So it's straight back into a WigWam shaped warm and cosy huddle again for the Pom Poms and lots of very big yawns all round too - bless 'em! ;o>

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Sleepy Pom Pom has passed out for the count as usual - but the second Breakfast failed to impress and Mum was not happy with Dad about it either ... "is THAT it?!! - I send you out with a huge Food Shopping List and all you bring me back is just THAT instead?!!" ;o>

Poor Dad got in a huff and has gone back to Hunting ... with Mum going with him to make doubly sure that he gets it right this time around ... Hee, Hee, Hee!!!

Oooh? - Sleepy is awake and is wondering "Where's Mummy? - I'm hungry AGAIN!!!"

WoW?!! - I thought Sleepy was being a bit dense? They have all suddenly grown massive flippery Feet (almost overnight!) and I've been watching Sleepy pecking at his Feet for several minutes now like he didn't realise they were actually his and not for eating ... only to now see that he is gripping some small leftover from the previous Breakfast and trying to rip it up with his little Beak, just like his M&D do, and then eat it.

That's the first time that I've seen any of them trying to do that! ;o>

Actually ... (*assumes Gossip Mode*) ... the word on the page of Facebook is that lots of folk all want to know if, and when, there will be a Dark Chocolate Twin Peaks? ... and the answer back from Poundland is that they have no plans to create one and that it would probably have to cost more than just a £1 if they did bring one out ... but? ... due to all of the feedback and the repeated requests they might now just possibly be considering the idea?! ... !!! ;o>

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments The rapid rate at which these Chicks are now growing, and all frequently spraying out cwap, it could very well soon apply to the 'Falcony' as well, Lez Lee!

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments I missed THE Wedding! ... well, to be honest, I wasn't actually invited - although I'm not sure why as it seems like everyone else was. Because apparently Robbie Williams took his Mother-In-Law with him as well as his Wife? - and I don't suppose that any of them has ever taken a couple of bottles of Perry round to Jack and Eugy's place and shared in an extra large KFC Bucket of Chicken or a Dominos Pizza friends & family Deal? I also haven't done so either and so where's my Wedding Invitation then, hey? ;o>

I had heard vague 'happening sometime around noon' comments previously as to when the Wedding would be starting and so I was rather surprised to switch on the TV half an hour ago thinking I'd take a quick look at the goings on only to discover that they had been, gone, and done it already ... I mean they could of waited a bit longer for me to get myself up, couldn't they? ... was it really just too much to ask of them?! ...

Ahhh well, whether you love, or hate, or aren't even just the slightest bit interested in the Royal Family, still ... today young two people in love came together and made a commitment to each other and to the future ahead ... and I wish them both every success and every happiness in that ... x ... ;o>

Yeah, that's the one I'm going with and you can't prove otherwise ..... can you? :)

(From the countdown I heard on the radio, it was all supposed to happen at eleven o' clock this morning)

message 2190: by Val (new)

Val H. | 22152 comments I was flicking through the TV guide tonight and was amazed to see that one of our commercial channels was showing it live. I didn't even know there was a wedding until I picked up a magazine at the doctor's on Wednesday. I know "they" say that everyone loves a good wedding but honestly, ninth in line to the throne makes her a nonentity as far as I'm concerned. Good luck to them both but prime-time television - really?!?!?!?!?

message 2191: by Lez (new)

Lez | 7490 comments The BBC turned it down, good on them! There's a big outcry because although her dad, Prince Andrew, has paid for the wedding, the £2 million security bill comes out of the public purse.
Not exactly essential either as it seems there were more security personnel than cheering crowds.
She and her bloke have good jobs and she doesn't carry out any Royal duties.

message 2192: by suzysunshine7 (last edited Oct 12, 2018 05:52AM) (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments I don't think that her proud (and notoriously pretentious and pushy) Parents wanted or would have accepted anything less than the full Royal works for their Daughter even though she is indeed such a minor Royal in reality.

She IS a Princess - and so it does seem to be only fair that her Wedding, with so many of the rest of the Royal Family in attendance, should have been something like this? - but there has been an awful lot of controversy and also quite a bit of animosity too towards the Couple for them choosing to insist on having a very big and rather excessive Royal Wedding all the same.

... why is there a half-empty box of Confetti in your Coat Pocket and a large slab of Wedding Cake wrapped in a Napkin on your Kitchen Table? ;oO

Being as I can't remember the last time I actually wore a coat, I don't know how that confetti got there - if somebody is trying to fit me up then they obviously don't know me very well if they don't know I only ever wear shorts and t-shirt regardless of the weather or occasion :)

Val H. | 22152 comments One of my favourite songs:

Hey Eugene! Do you remember me?
I'm that chick you danced with two times
Through the Rufus album, Friday night, at that party
On Avenue A

Where your skinhead friend passed out
For several hours on the bathroom floor
And you told me, you weren't that drunk
And that I was your favorite Salsa dancer
You had ever come across in New York City

Eugene, Eugene, Eugene
I said, "Hello Eugene, are you there, Eugene?"

Hey Eugene, then we kissed
Once we lugged your friend into the elevator
And went to write my number on a soggy paper towel
And the car went down

And when we were finished making out
We noticed that your skinhead friend was gone, long gone
And you looked into my bloodshot eyes
And said, "Is it too soon if I call you Sunday?"

Eugene, Eugene, Eugene
I said, "Hello Eugene, are you there, Eugene?"

I said, "Hello Eugene, Eugene, Eugene"
I said, "Hello Eugene, are you there, Eugene?"
I said, "Hello Eugene, Eugene, Eugene
I said, "Hello Eugene, does any of this ring a bell, Eugene?"
