Don't Kill Snails with Salt ... Creme Eggs & Toasted Teacakes ... Biscuits & Bench Stories, Life, the Universe, & Everything!

I got help with all the Veg prep and set it all up in the Steamers, made the Gravy up from Stock, and prepared the leftover cooked Chicken all ready to add to the Gravy to warm up ... then fed the little hairy woofers their Tea ... dry Dog Food and Chicken ... then realised I'd just fed them OUR Chicken! ... and that all I have left Meat-wise in the Fridge now is just a half tin of Dogmeat!!! - LOL!!!
Tea was Takeaway ... ;o> ... ;o> ... ;o>

The Royal Canin Chicken & Rice Sensitivity Control Dogmeat? ...
No, M&D couldn't be persuaded and were having none of it! - LOL!!! ;o>

Ohhh I am very glad to hear that, Val, because I kept looking yesterday and never saw any Feeding going on and I was getting worried that maybe they weren't being fed regularly enough.
The parent Falcon got up several times and I could clearly see all of the fluffy three plus an Egg (unhatched? - or a spare piece from their Hatching?) but I never saw a Feed take place.

It was fairly graphic. A very large bird carcass and mum/dad ripping bits off to feed the chicks. I can't stop watching. The sitter is now having an extensive grooming session and keeps looking at the webcam as if to say "Like what you see?"

I'm sure that they know the Camera is there? - they sit with their Back to it a lot and turn to glare at it quite often as if to say ... "are you STILL there?! - do you really have nothing else to do?!!" ... LOL!!! ;o>

Dinner has just gone in the oven;
Grated potatoes, including one sweet potato, cooked in milk, butter and a few grated garlic cloves has been poured over two tuna steaks, topped with cheese and a grind of black pepper.
I'll probably serve it up with peas and sweetcorn on the side.
I've had a look at that bird-cam, but it just keeps on buffering on my laptop :(

I wonder if there’s something wrong with that egg? It seems quite a long time after the others.

Don't forget mine! ... I'm just off to Bed now but I'll be wanting that for my Brunch ;o>
It is buffering for me all the time right now - although it doesn't do it quite so much at other times of the day. I just keep on refreshing and pressing Play as it is quite addictive viewing and the Chicks have been much more active all day today.
Safe Journeys to you - and it's ... x NN x ST x SD x ... from me ;o>

Well, I would say dinner's in the dog but you're used to that! :)
No work until Tuesday now - the only journey we are making is to the hotel tomorrow for our Wedding Anniversary :)
Sleep well :)

Thanks suzy :)
We've made it to 18 years without Mrs Grizzly killing me though she's been close a couple of times!
It'll be nice just to have someone else do the cooking while we can both relax and have a drink if we want - normally, if we go out for a meal, I drive so won't even have one drink (drink or drive, not both) and if we stay at home then there's the cooking and all the washing up afterwards so, yes, someone else can put in all the effort for a change :)
Not only that, this will be the first time in about 12 years, I think, that we will have actually had a night away from home - we're both looking forward to it :)

It's not uncommon for the odd egg in a nest, not to hatch...one that didn't 'mature' as it were..al la, it's a duff 'un? It'll probably get left there, when the chicks leave, or eaten maybe.
In any case, it should hatch, late hatchers rarely survive, as it's older siblings will get the bigger share of food..so it's best that one just remains as it is!

Many happy returns on your anniversary Grizzly & Mrs Grizzly! :)
Cheers, Duke :)
A good time was had by both of us, despite what turned out to be a poor choice of hotel. The only positives about the hotel were good food and clean beds - the whole place is in need of a revamp, better standards of cleaning (or perhaps our standards are higher than theirs) and motivation for the staff who are well aware of the failings of the place. The receptionist/bellboy/barman/waiter looked up with weary resignation every time he saw us and appeared surprised that we never complained about anything.
We were put in the 'Ladybird Suite' - so called by us as there was about two dozen Ladybirds congregated in the corner of one of the windows and hidden by the curtain, until I decided to open said window to let in some fresh air which sent them flying all round the room!
It only took a couple of minutes to round them all up and evict them, though a few tried to get back in :)
Still, like I said, we had a good time though should we want to stay anywhere else, we'll research it better than we did this hotel and take more notice of the poor reviews - this place was about 50/50 good and bad reviews and we like to think that sometimes people just complain for the sake of complaining.

they're creamy, they're dreamy, they like to watch the sweeney! :)
even more unspeakably toothsome than last years'! with the radical new styling, they render toblerone as akin to putting a turd in your mouth! :)

It really is not fair, Poppet - you and Mrs Grizzly deserve SO much better and SO much more ... x
Would you be able to take some more time off work and afford to do it again somewhere else in the next few weeks to make up for it?
Are you signed up to Booking.com at all? - because I could give you my Referral Link to save yourselves some money on a night somewhere and you could also have the Referral money that is credited back to me afterwards as well if that helps? ;o>

I've stayed in a couple of hotels like that in the recent past. It's sad that independent/family-owned hotels seem particularly prone to ending up like this, while the characterless chains keep on top of it. I find myself preferring to stay at an Ibis rather than an independent hotel, when my desire to support small, independent businesses would suggest the opposite.

I too am sharing a 'Twin Peak' with M&D right now as well! And there is also one that has just been posted off this Morning to someone else who has kindly volunteered to be signed up to the 'Twin Peaks Taste Challenge' ;o>
Okay?- well? ... I feel I have to be absolutely honest with you on this one ... it is indeed fantastically satisfying and very filling too and rather fabulous value for money - but I'm finding it to be too sweet for me and the Chocolate is, as is only to be expected, not exactly the best Chocolate around ... Hmmm? ...
I actually really liked Poundland's (now sadly discontinued) 'Sweet Heaven' Milk Chocolate Brazils - although I didn't much like their Chocolate Bars - and so I was hoping that the Chocolate might possibly be as good as the coating that was used on my Brazil Nuts? ... but it isn't.
I am very glad that I've tried one, and I wouldn't say no if ever offered a piece of someone else's, but I'm not sure if I would go out of my way to buy myself one again?
In fact, I am starting to wonder now if it is just me? Am I losing what little sweet tooth I have as I get older? - only everything on offer these days is almost always TOO sweet for me? - and I dislike Dark Chocolate because I always find it to be TOO bitter?!! ;oO

i have a real taste for cheap chocolate (barely legal chocolate?), and don't think twice about cooking chocolate either, but then i'm a greedy b******!
at the other end of the scale i also enjoy high quality chocolate as vended by hotel chocolat or the oban chocolate company, as i can be a refined greedy b******!

I have had to find somewhere to stay in Barrow many times over now the last four years (and a few times also at rather short notice too) and I have always found it very useful in spending some time in going back and forward between TripAdvisor and Booking.com, and Facebook too, for all of their Ratings and Reviews.
And I must admit that I do really enjoy almost the over-planning of such things as I often have far too much free time to be able to spare these days.
Attractive and functional Furniture in a 'nice' Room, a good firm Bed and clean fresh Bedding, plus a decent enough and useable Ensuite is absolutely essential to me. If it is a little bit dusty in places and not particularly all that clean in others then it doesn't bother me too much. I always carry a pack of Antibacterial Wipes in my Bag and just give everywhere a very quick and a thorough wipe-down on my arrival. I also like to do it all over again just before I leave too which always used to bewilder and to crack one of my friends up no end ;o>
I can't help it? - I just like to leave all that I can in any Room that I've been staying in looking as good as is possible, and quite often sometimes even better, than when I arrived to stay in it.
I think maybe it comes of always going on family Holidays in Self Catering places when I was growing up? - my Mum would get us all up earlier enough so as to be able to make time to tidy up and clean through the entire place, Room by Room, as we made our way out - while my Dad would walk the Dogs and then busy himself with packing up the Car with everything - all ready for us to leave for Home ;o>

If I liked Chocolate as much as most people tend to do then I would probably love Twin Peaks and buy it again and again - I've just never been all that much of a Chocolate fan.
I remember not liking Toblerone the few times that I have tried it over the years - and that was because it was far too sweet as well and because all of the 'bits' in it would come together afterwards and stick hard and fast to your Teeth just like a very persistent Wine Gum.
The overall taste and the texture of a Twin Peaks is definitely so much nicer that that ;o>

Nighty-Night x Sleepy-Tight x and very Sweet Dreams to all x
(By the way, Val, I do get what you mean about the Feeding of the Falcons ... I've seen it twice now and it is really horrible and yet compulsive and mesmorising viewing, isn't it? I also get a slight feeling of dread now every time that I go checking up on them as well - just in case anything awful might possibly have happened to any of them in the meantime. I am SO longing for a joyful and happy ending to getting to watch this lovely little family together ;o>)

I know exactly what you mean. I was going out on Sunday afternoon but I was stuck to the screen because Mama was AWOL and the chicks looked bereft without her. It was a warm, sunny day here so apart from being a bit wind-blown at that height, the chicks weren't in any danger from the elements, but, nonetheless, I had to delay my departure by an hour until I saw mama return. Phew!

UPDATE: Mama's back and she's dragged the carcass from the nest. She's going to finish it off herself.

Luckily everything seems fine on the Nest though ... WHEW!!! ;o>
I've just found and asked the Administrators if I can join their Official Facebook Page - so there HAD better be a happy ending now as I'll have to unjoin fast if I start getting Notifications sent on to me of any heartbreaking updates! ;oO ...
https://www.facebook.com/groups/367co...
I decided to join, although I don't ever intend to post on it myself, because I've learnt so much from just reading through only a small handful of recent Posts.
Things such as ... I should be calling them 'Peregrines' and not 'Falcons' because ... "Only the Female Peregrine is called a Falcon. The Male Peregrine is called a Tiercel. Tiercel comes from the Latin word 'Tertius', which means “one-third”, because the Male is typically 1/3 smaller than the Female" ... and also that ... "Peregrine Falcon chicks, called Eyases, eat an incredible amount of food - in six days they double their weight and at three weeks are ten times their size at birth!" ... ! ;o>
On Facebook there are lots of serious as well as the odd fun Post too and so many Pictures - and I've learnt now how to recognise and to distinguish between the Male and the Female - and to see that the Tiercel is very much always around and that he is willingly doing his fair share of nesting/parenting duties as well as almost all of the hunting/providing as well. This Falcon has very clearly found herself a 'good 'un' in her Tiercel ;o>
Right! - back to Bed for a couple of hours more sleep for me ... hopefully? ...

I have now asked to join the Facebook page - as you say, some very informative posts there. I love the epithet "murder pom poms" for the chicks. And their link to the feed is better too:
https://g0.ipcamlive.com/player/playe...

Yeah, I rather like the name 'murder pom poms' as well - LOL!!!
Ohhh, have you read the bit yet where someone asks the Admin Members where the Tiercel hangs out when he is not seemingly wanted around? Apparently he has several different roosting spots on the same Building - although one of them is ever-so-slightly just out of sight of the Nest and is where he sometimes goes to 'hide out' for an hour or so whenever he thinks that his Falcon might be about to start with giving him a nagging stare and he is not in the mood for her doing it?!! ... HA HA HA HA HA!!! ;o>

I lay down about 8am and within barely 5 minutes I got a woofity little voice calling up the Stairs ... "Hello? - is there anyone up there? - 'cos we both wants our Brekkie and we both wants it now?!" ... !
I shall just have to keep on with telling myself that Sleep is just 'so last year' and over-rated ... (*sob*) ... ! ;o>

Poundland are also making ... steady now lad - calm down, wait for it and brace yourself ... ! ! ! A WHITE CHOCOLATE TWIN PEAKS BAR ! ! ! ... ;o>
The Countdown on Facebook has already started and it has been announced that it will be available in all Poundland Stores from the 12th of October!
(He's probably just fainted away with sheer delight now ;o>)

hmmm, nice.
Just a quick hello;
Late finish, dinner a la rush and off to bed soon after :)
Suzy - we've got a week off in a fortnight and were looking at going somewhere during that time, so I'll get back to you about your generous offer tomorrow; initial thought is that if we can get a discount and you get a referral reward then all to the good :)

I can simply pay it on to you by PayPal or post it on to you instead - and I'll be more than happy with the pleasure of knowing that you both had even more of a discounted treat for your Anniversary ;o>
EDIT : Just checked to see if the Referral thingy has changed at all recently and it hasn't - you'll get a 10% Discount off the cost of your Booking and I'll get £20 sent on to me round about a month after your Stay - and as far as I'm concerned the £20 will also be all yours as well ;o>

I wanted to treat my Forum friend to her accommodation in Stockport when she came over from Lithuania - and it all added up to a total of £25 back to me in the end - which more than paid for the wonderful Pub Meal that we had together that Evening.
It's such a fantastic Referral Link Offer - and one that you can even make work between family as well as between friends Accounts ;o>

I can't photograph ours because it is down at the bottom of the Garden but Mum says there are new Leaves forming where it has been trimmed back. I think they were trying to improve it's appearance somewhat - but I'm sure it'll be fine under Mum's expert care and watchful Eye.
In my Head, as it was a special gift, I had got it pictured as hopefully being an absolutely perfect and beautiful looking miniature Tree - but, of course, they don't always come looking like that at first and it clearly previously hasn't been quite as loved and as well looked after as it could have been.
Mum is extremely happy with it and she has high hopes of it soon recovering and thriving - and that's all that really matters to me ;o>
