Loving Pixie's new toy, Suzy. Snowdrop got a star and fluffy feather Cat Teaser from Santa, along with a bag full of treats, and a cat stocking from my neighbour Jade and her kitty Tiger which included a wee stuffed gingerbread man. She played with the teaser but wasn't very impressed with poor Gingy!

Six grandchildren aged 8 down to 2 and the rule always applies, it's the simplest things that go down best. 8 year old who is obsessed with drawing/colouring dinosaurs was amazed (as were his parents) by this battery operated pencil sharpener:https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0C8SJ43...
Mr 3 and Miss 2 spent all day annoying their respective parents (that's the whole point!) with this dog-training clicker which cost me less than a quid.

Pixie enjoys shaking her head as she carries it around behind me and it sounds like I am continually being followed by the swish of a Maraca! ... LOL!!! ;o>
Awww, Santa was extremely generous to little Miss Snowdrop this year. She must have been a very good girl to get to the top of the Nice List ;o>

I love that there are still many kids that can delight in the most simplest of things instead of always being so obsessed with all the very latest and the most expensive electronic gadgets available.

One family has a dog but he's old and beyond training now. No, the clickers were left over from when we last had a puppy about ten years ago. I gifted them just because I knew the littlies would love them and to get back at the parents who drove us mad with the old tin toy clickers they had as kids (I've still got two somewhere - vintage now!).
the clicker may be a good idea for a certain young lady ,right Suzy.😃Treacle also got a toy which whizzes with a feathers on it,not too impressed when compared to baubles off of the tree.

x x x ! Happy New Year Everyone ! x x xMay 2025 be kind and gentle and a good year for all of us ...

And a happy New Year to you too Suzy and all posters. It's odd that you're still waiting on the bells (or should that be fireworks) when I am up and about after a decent night's sleep. I was still up at midnight, watching something mindless on TV because I find that fireworks on TV are fairly unspectacular compared to real life. It was the sound of fireworks that alerted me that the year had ticked over. Only a few and they didn't last long. I hope 2025 is a good year for us all and the world at large.
Neither Mum or me felt like we wanted to stay up until Midnight just so we could share a drink and watch the Fireworks live in London. Mum is clearly exhausted and my Dad really couldn't care less so they have both gone to bed early and I will stay up just to make sure there are not any extra loud Fireworks that might scare Pixie and then I will also go to bed.Instead we will enjoy watching the Fireworks on YouTube on my Laptop tomorrow while having a lovely long Port & Lemon ... ;o>
Unfortunately the Belvoir Lemonade was suddenly not in stock and so it did not get delivered ;o<However a neighbour was doing some bits of shopping at Waitrose today and he very kindly brought me two bottles of ... https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/product... ... to experiment with using as a mixer ;o>
I look forward to trying it out tomorrow ...
Well! ... luckily heavy flooding up into our little side road is extremely rare and so all our homes are always safe here and the most that we usually get to deal with at our house is just the bottom part of our back garden (lawn and flowerbeds) under a couple of inches of water. However, I looked out at 7am this morning to see the usual amount of flooding in our garden BUT ... next door?!! ... there must be almost a foot of water completely covering his entire back garden! ;oO
I am lost for words! ... but at least the higher ground of the patio area and his house is still remaining safe and Mum can still easily gain full access to the house to take our elderly neighbour any essential supplies of groceries he may be needing today.

Thanks Isabella! ... I am looking forward to a very large long Port & Lemon later on this afternoon.
Unfortunately I still can't get up this morning as my Right Hip has got other ideas and my pain levels are still way off the scale so far .
Fortunately I think this is just about as great an excuse as any other to fully justify eating nothing but several Pigs in Blankets and a large slice of Pork Pie for Breakfast, followed by a big wedge of Panettone accompanied by a large glass of Chocolate Milk! ;o>

If it gets you through the day, Suzy!
I am thinking maybe this Breakfast/Brunch could possibly be listed under New Year Resolutions and also Spring Cleaning too! ... it's a win-win! ... and I am getting 2025 off to a fantastic start ... LOL!!! ;o>
The other excuse is that Mum has stealthily eaten her way through almost all the chocolate I was intending to share with her over the next couple of weeks ... so I am making sure that I also get a few treats before they all disappear! ;o>

Thanks, Suzy. Poems about winter are the best, somehow.
Every year before Christmas I buy myself a lovely large Panettone. I then 'hide' it away from myself at the back of a cupboard so that I can 'surprise' myself by finding it after New Year when all of the celebrations are well and truly over and life is back to normal again ;o>Today was the delightful day that I found my annual special treat ... and decided to decadently spend the afternoon in bed watching a good murder mystery film, with Pixie purring away beside me, while drinking a large mug of Kenco Latte and tearing pieces off the Panettone.
OHHHHHHH! ... It was SOOOOOOO soft and fresh and fruity and YUMMMMMMMY!!!
THE perfect way to enjoy an otherwise empty and ordinary afternoon ;o>
An incredibly still and calm and beautiful sunny day here today after yesterday and the latest of the now many Storms (Éowyn) to hit the UK ...
... In Ireland, Taoiseach Micheál Martin said: "The destruction caused by some of the strongest winds on record has been unprecedented."
A wind speed of 183kmh (114mph) brought by Storm Éowyn has been recorded in the Republic of Ireland, the fastest since records began, Irish forecaster Met Éireann said.
Wow! ... it came so fast ... February is here! ...

Purrfect! Sorry...
Awww, thank you! ... x ... I am still trying to figure out how to grow up and be 57 years old when my disabled body always feels like it is well over 100 ... yet my heart and mind still believes that I am no more than 8 and just wants to dance around the house to music, eat mega mountains of cake and ice cream, and go to the local park to play on the swings and the slide! ... LOL!!! ;o>

Thanks Suzy! Love the cute picture! And it’s going to be 19 degrees here today - nothing like what you’re experiencing (and I know you’re not a fan of heat) but it’s not bad for winter!
