When it comes to Fleetwood Mac, Blastro,...........I'd rather jack! 😁(courtesy of The Reynolds Girls, 1989)
Does it matter what he meant? I suspect Val's right, Blastro, but it's what you take from it that really counts, I think.
Thanks folks... even you Tech. : ) Was just wondering how it comes across is all. I was thinking the former. Was considering sending it via Messenger to the ex or whatever she is - we're certainly not together but it's kinda weird*. And no before ya think it , not a 'friends with benefits' type thing either. Reckon I'm a virgin again!!!! It's been three mon.... sorry TMI perhaps? Y'know something... I've not said that to one single person, not even my mental health folk... and I blurt it out in pubic.. err I mean public!! See!!! It's screwin... I mean, messing with me head!!!! Aaaarrgh! In any case I do like to talk via music if I can. Makes me feel a little 'poetic' even if I didn't write the damn words.
* Apart, done but not 100% dusted.. at least not as I type. The 'try again' shit hanging around, possibly up to an unhealthy point.
Right, time for more help. I went a bit far with the beard trimmer last night and ended up leaving just a tuft on me chin. Am gonna put up a pic - tho it's still not very clear - and somebody needs to sincerely tell me to shave the damn thing off. Kids have all said it's ok. I'm not convinced.EDIT - have just realized how round me face was on those 'Before' pics! Good grief!!
Doesn't bother me either way. I think you'd do okay in a Daniel Johns (Silverchair) look-alike competition.
Silverchair! Forgot about them. Can remember getting one of their albums out from library quite a few years ago and not being too keen but one track 'The Door' stood out. Soon as ya mentioned Silverchair, that riff was in me head. Played it several times on YT since. Reckon I'll go back and give em another go.Btw - Goatee gone. Job lot. Why not? Not like it don't grow back is it? Dunno what I wuz making a fuss about.
And even tho it might look so... I don't think I've been drunk on any occasion I've posted on here since I returned. So has everyone migrated to other chat sites? I mean what other chat sites? It's bloody terrible out there!! Somebody name me one place on the internet where people actually chat. From what I seen, so called 'Chat Forums' are packed with threads where the OP puts up their post... and various people make one comment each on said post and after aday or two, it's dead. Turnover is actually opposite this place and TOO fast but also, nobody really talks to each other. And when a thread's dead in 48 hrs, I mean how d'ya get the chance?
Mostly young uns too.
I'm bordering on bloody desperate here. There's only so many hours a day you can have the dog out and without a pot to piss in at the moment.... there's not much else to do with this current situation.
I never really got into Silverchair - I'm probably too old. But Daniel Johns seems to have been in the news a lot lately and I'm not quite sure why - possibly mental health issues? And I'm also probably too old for chat forums. I'm not even sure what they are. I'm on Facebook only to keep track of what my kids are up to but I don't like it. For every nice item that gets posted there, don't bother looking at the comments because some killjoy will just love ripping it apart. You'll have to find stuff on Youtube to motivate you Blastro - cooking, gardening, tai-chi, etc etc.
This is the only place I post on, no Twitter, no Facebook. I garden and I read, endlessly. In the past three and a half years I've read at least five books a week, mostly from Kindle Unlimited, as it's the cheapest way. My other distraction is to buy books of killer sudoku and the Times cryptic crosswords. Not everyone's choice, I know, but it helps stop obsessive thinking and remembering. To be honest, I've sometimes typed a reply to someone and then not posted it, out of a feeling that my ideas aren't that interesting or just mistaken. Perhaps I should be more venturesome?
Anyway, I'm going to shred some old paperwork, the stuff breeds, I swear it does ...

Had a FB account 10 years ago, but got bored with it.....then, it was just mostly parents posting stuff about their kids and such....not for me. Never done instagram, twitter, my space (does that still even exist?)...nope...i spend more time on YT these days...loads of interesting stuff on there.
Tbh I'm not a fan of FB but have found Messenger quite handy and still do. In fact without Messenger, I'd barely be in touch with anyone at all, and that includes family members and the aforementioned problem woman. Am wondering whether to have a look at Twitter. Never really looked into it before. Guessing it's not much different from others tho - rapid turnover and monologuing. Oh and a bit of celebrity bashing I suppose.
Belated Birthday greetings Blastro, sorry this is late. Be really good to catch up soon, as we're in a very similar boat.
Blastronaut wrote: "Tbh I'm not a fan of FB but have found Messenger quite handy and still do. My old phone's knackered - it was no good for internet anyways - so this ere laptop is my only connection to folk. Don't got a single penny to me name - bank accounts and stuff haven't even been sorted yet.. long story - so can't get another one. Couldn't even buy a bloody case! Only prob with Messenger is when I'm low, I still message folk and... they don't need that stuff.

Happy belated birthdays to Blastro and Foe.Blastro - something in the depths of my brain is telling me that you are a Puressence fan? If so, you might be interested in this article and new documentary film:-
"Now a new documentary film has been curated to document the career of Puressence. Thirty Years is an unofficial, fan made film which juxtaposes old footage with anecdotes and interviews. The film itself avoids heavily lamenting the bands missed opportunities, preferring to accentuate the highs. This is, after all, a fan film and Puressence deserve that. They were a great band. Yet we already know the early excitement will eventually turn to regrets as the group becomes hamstrung by circumstances."

Cheers Helen. Yeah I liked/like Puressence's stuff, especially one particular album which I forget the name of... might've been their second one. One of those I always forget to name when talking about top albums and stuff. Kinda sums up Puressence really, does that. Dunno about underrated but unappreciated maybe? Will give that ago, thanks m'dear.

Reviving something Blastro commented on, Facebook, Twitter and so on, I'm getting a bit peeved with companies that want me to use Facebook , etc to contact them with queries. I'm not interested in them and have no intention of signing up just so I can tell the water company or whoever what I want. Granted, there are phone numbers as well but they take longer and longer to answer calls.Does anyone know if contacting companies through social media sites actually works? It sounds to me like a way to keep us even more at a distance which is the opposite of what these sites claim to intend.
Isabella wrote: "Reviving something Blastro commented on, Facebook, Twitter and so on, I'm getting a bit peeved with companies that want me to use Facebook , etc to contact them with queries. The arrogance of tech firms and websites that are increasing functioning on the assumption that everybody now has a smart phone..is really infuriating. I don't even have a smart telly. I'm 48 and already i feel like i'm being left behind in this all too ever quickly changing technological world we now live in. And how quickly too....25 years ago, very few people had a mobile phone and broadband....that's only a quarter of a century ago! Make me feel nervous about the next 25 years...where the blazes will we 'all' be then? Virtual reality in our homes? 3D Holographic socialising? Brain implants wired to the world wide web? I daren't imagine!

Some of their more latter stuff that I'm not so familiar with sounded decent. Thousands of bands with much lesser talent went on to much bigger things. A familiar story. Yes am quite partial to Only Forever. Dunno if it was Manni or someone else talked about the goose-bumps with a particular track - that whole album's more or less like that for me.
Nice one m'dear.

They don't miss a trick do they? And that's just having the odd nosey and a small scroll down. I'm not a FB person. In fact I hate the damn thing. More so now!!

Blastronaut wrote: " Yep, enjoyed that, Helen. I didn't realize how much their very early EP stuff sounded like Stone Roses. Well, to me it did..."Glad you managed to watch and enjoy it, Blastro. Not a band I ever got into so maybe I'll have to investigate them when I have the time. I know Sera was a fan too, but he's gone awol. :-(
Yeah Sera does seem to've left the ship. I messaged him a few months ago and got the impression it was a temporary thing n he was just busy. Guess he could've left for good but I remember him leaving 'zon for quite a while and then returning so there be hope yet. Dunno about yerself but I found that I liked similar music to Sera in large parts.. depending on genre anyways.
Blastronaut wrote: "Yeah Sera does seem to've left the ship. I messaged him a few months ago and got the impression it was a temporary thing n he was just busy. Yes, Sera and I had quite a bit of crossover in our musical tastes.... NOT hair metal though!
Ha ha you know you're a closet metal fan Helen! We all know!! You're just in denial, m'dear. It's ok, it happens to all of us. I remember sitting in a group one time and saying "My name is Rob and.... I like Meatloaf!" And everyone applauded!! You gotta come to terms with it before you can deal with it. : )We're here to help.
Your story reminded me of my son. In his first year at university he was doing a degree in exercise science or something but English was a compulsory subject. In his first lecture the class were asked to stand up, introduce themselves, and name a book that had made a big impression on them. Everyone is rattling off "Moby Dick", "To Kill a Mockingbird", "A Tale of Two Cities", etc. R starts panicking having never been much of a reader of fiction (he has taken it up as he now nears middle age) so he stands up and says "Welcome to Camp Nightmare" (R.L Stine's Goosebumps series) and the whole class bursts into applause.

Dear God, no, not the dreaded 'loaf. That truly is the stuff of nightmares.
I jest of course but only in part. Do find some of his stuff alright, especially Bat... and even Bat 2 has its moments. Well I say 'his' stuff but ya know what I mean. Yes, not something to really shout about. Was thinking of the Monty Python sketch with John Cleese looking shifty and talking about how he first became a cheese addict. Could just imagine ML fans... meeting secretly in dark rooms, passing around albums. : )
Ok, while I'm embarrassing meself, I might as well mention I've still not read any of the biggies of literature like Val mentioned above and at fifty-one!! Oh, I once read Catcher In The Rye if that counts...
Best clarify a little... John Cleese was discussing a person's journey to becoming a mouse. The cheese thing being the start. For the record.
So it starts with Bat Out Of Hell and ends with being a large person who... no I'm not gonna kick old Meatloaf. He's gone now anyway... I think.
Surely y'all got guilty pleasures re music or films/TV... or books? Even if you wun't mention em in public, you all got em. : )
Too many to mention Blastro! When AC/DC toured here in 2010, the whole town was abuzz. Where was I that night? Watching Cliff Richard and The Shadows! Well, I had to re-visit the first live gig I'd ever been to (as an 10 year old) - after all, it was "our" 50th anniversary, and did I mention, IT WAS THE SHADOWS!!! I also own "The Love Boat" on DVD. What a great TV show that was! Anyone??????
Blastronaut wrote: "Surely y'all got guilty pleasures re music or films/TV... or books? Even if you wun't mention em in public, you all got em."Well yes, of course. For some reason, every year my Dad and I will watch the World's Strongest Man competition at Xmas/New Year time (on TV, obvs). Neither of us are into musclebound men, weightlifting or anything like that but we always enjoy watching this. We find it highly amusing, much to my Mum and Sister's disgust.
Alright... this's what ya could call a guilty pleasure and I'm listening to it (fourth or fifth time on the trot.... Daughter's gonna be coming in complaining any minute now) as I type. I prefer White Lion's version of Radar Love to the original. ... and if anyone's wondering, I got the headphones right here n ready but usually have to be told to put em on first. : )
You have to be told???!!!!! 😁as my taste in music is impeccable / crap (depending where you're standing!) I'll have to admit my great love for This Morning With Phil And Holly, followed by Loose Women - non-negotiable!!!!!!
Loose Women I can handle Tech... but This Morning... not so sure. Bit of advice please any of yous. I got some shoes - 90s style ankle high type affairs and they started coming apart at the seems y'know where the rest of the shoe meets the sole? Thing is, I really love these shoes - apart from the fact they're not cheap - and apart from said problem, they're almost as good as new. All the tread perfectly intact and not worn. Now... have tried Super-Glue and that bloody Gorrila one whatever it's called and it's not holding. Any suggestions for tough-going glue? Don't wanna take em to be repaired cos I've done that before with another pair back in the day n they replaced the soles altogether. Industial type glue needed perhaps?
I don't know anything about glue but maybe shoe repairers are better these days. Being a "cobbler" is part of the retro trend and there's some very good (and expensive) ones around now. I have a pair of shoes (small purple boots) that I adore, though not expensive, and I'll be looking for a skilled person to repair them when the time comes. Or you could always try The Repair Shop.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YOPn...
Like Val, I can’t suggest glue but have you tried clamping the surfaces together? I’ve used big bulldog clips, padded with a bit of cloth to protect the leather. It’s worked occasionally.
Thanks m'dears. Can't remember where any clips are - and that would be round home (?) but also in an awkward place to attach. Might have to bite the bullet and take em to be repaired or just give up on em altogether. Really like these style shoes, and tho ya can get similar ones nowadays, I don't see any just like these. Apart from the fact I don't got over £100 to spare at this very moment. : (
