Not at the moment although Su is leaning slightly to red. We're going back to France on Thursday, covid test permitting. Then we have to isolate for seven days and have another covid test. The puppies swill be about six weeks old by then and we will be going to see them, and make our final decision.

Blastronaut | 1061 comments Animal situation not looking too bad at this end either. Looks like old Vlad The Maine Coon is finally seeking other lands to conquer. Only been putting in the odd cameo appearance over the last few days. Hardly see him at all.
Suppose it could be down to the bitter cold mind, which could be keeping even a hard basket like him indoors. And it IS bloody cold. While clearing up our dawgs' droppings earlier I saw that some had frozen and... well it's put me off any future indulgence in chocolate ice cream! Must be said tho, it's a much less messy job when it's froze solid. Apart from those that have actually welded themselves to the concrete; they're a tad problematic...

... err, sorry people, maybe y'all coulda done without knowing that.

Yes TMI, I think. The wind is really cold and picking up. Literally watching the gulls fly backwards!

It's been retty chilly here too this winter, Blastro. It was still -16°C at 10am today in full sunshine. God knows what temp it got down to last night. I had quite a bit of ice on the insides of some of my windows. Brrrr. We have had thick snow (& ice) on the ground since Christmas time & no signs of it going anytime soon.

Craig White | 6727 comments "dawgs' droppings"

that's right, blastro, follow the science! did the same this a.m. - frosty weather is optimum time to pick up lux's logs (and the ocassional bobby jobby), and port them over the road to the keech bin!
it's weird, frosty but no snow - a satellite photo of scotland showed everywhere white except for ayrshire! mind you, they're probably filling the gritters with methadone.

TheFoe | 2638 comments My daughter gave birth today to a very little girl, 5lb 9oz. She has called her Nelly with Iris as her middle name. She wasn't due until the 21st, and my daughter Holly had an emergency cesarean as little Nelly hadn't grown for a while and they were worried that her blood pressure was high. Anyway both of them are fine which is the main thing, and I'm so proud and quite emotional at the same time. I've put her picture in my profile. Hopefully see them tomorrow but more likely see them on Saturday. Got to give her boyfriend David a mention too, as he's a really nice lad and will look after the both of them.

On the subject of dog's, from Blastro's earlier post, I was working tonight at my local Lidl which closes at 10pm. We thought we had locked the doors, and bear in mind this was 10.30pm, until somebody over the radio said, "there's a dog in the store". It was an alsatian that charged about and barked a lot. It was only playing and not aggressive, though it did bite one of the managers on the lip. It charged up to me and put both its paws on my shoulder, I think it wanted a cuddle. Not going to lie, my heart was racing but it was just really hyper. Took a good 20 mins before the owner turned up, and still not sure what happened as we are situated on an industrial estate away from houses. Never a dull moment!

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments It's the start of Chinese New Year - the Year of the Ox - so we have 'celebrated' it with a Chinese Takeaway after watching the Dragon Dance up and down our Road thanks to our lovely local Takeaway who decided to bring the Dance all the way up and down four of our Main Roads and also down a lot of the Side Roads as well this year ;o>

We usually go down to see it dance around the Village Centre every year - but we missed seeing it last year - so it was a lovely gesture to see them come and perform in several Roads worked out based around the Home Addresses of a lot of their regular Customers so that we could still get to watch it while under Lock-down this year ;o>

We also even got a little Goody Bag containing three tiny Moon Cakes and a Fortune Cookie each as well! ;o>

As Valentine's Day is on Sunday, the usual extra large Hand-tied Bouquet of Seasonal Flowers will be delivered to M&D on my behalf tomorrow. Mum and me don't ever order any standard kinds of Christmas or Valentine's Day Bouquets as we aren't keen on Bouquets that mostly, or completely, consist of red colours of any Flowers ... we prefer a mix of bright, bold and vibrant colours - and, if our Florists have got anything really unusual in, they always make sure to include a stem or two because they know just how much we both appreciate anything unique to the Season or a bit different ;o>

Then on Tuesday it will be Pancake Day! ... and so it would seem that good things really do sometimes come in threes! - LOL!!! ;o>

(Fours even! - if I include hearing such good news from Nick! ;o>)

5/9? Ah bless her. Jay had to have an emergency C-section with our daughter so I know of the trials of such an ordeal, only with us it was a case of baby not wanting to come out at all rather than before time. Typical female, our Faye - not putting in an appearance in until she wuz good n ready. : )
Mucho congratulations m'friend.

Blastronaut | 1061 comments Isabella/Helen - to top off these lovely summery temperatures that we're having, our abode's heating has now decided to give it up. Haven't even had a promise that they'll be out today to sort it out either. One of the many probs that come with being humble council tenants - they'll get it sorted... but only when it suits em.

Not just girls Blastro...i was born two weeks late! Me mum was so relieved when i finally 'decided' to make an appearance, as apparently i was keeping her up at night playing tummy footy! :)

message 7444: by Blastronaut (last edited Feb 15, 2021 06:55AM) (new)

Blastronaut | 1061 comments Most played sport in the tummy stadiums around the world is that Duke. Our daughter wanted to come into the world a tad on the early side but when it got down to the push n shove, she decided that a change of plan was in order. Refused to tuck her head in so she kept stopping up against J's pelvis instead of straight through and out. Ordeal n a half that day. Bad enough for me n'mind J! : )
When they brought in the epidural I was like "Hmm, I seem to've run out of ciggies, I'm off to the shop" - I mean have ya seen the size of those things? Ya could send folk to the moon on one of those bloody things!!

Blastronaut | 1061 comments Y'know Suze, that's exactly what our next door neighbour said when I told her of my... well OUR, ordeal when I returned home that evening... I mean I had to go home and get some rest, I'd been through a lot! : )

In my defence I really had run outta ciggies. And that needle was the biggest I ever saw,. But yes, I'm afraid to say that I bottled it there. I did return tho.... when the screaming had reduced to the level of, say, a Motorhead gig.

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments I prefer to believe that some of us have lives like Shooting Stars ;o>

We may be badly damaged, and sometimes we may even feel like we have become broken beyond all fixing, but nevertheless - we can still get to shine brightly by giving out the most of ourselves and, by doing so, we can still get to light up our lives and the lives of all of our loved ones in the very best and most beautiful ways imaginable.

You're not broken to me, Blastro - you're a Shooting Star ... x ;o>
