suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments I've stayed quite generously stocked up on everything essential ;o>

M&D started with suggesting that I was possibly being a little bit too over-cautious a few week back ... but I still made the decision to carry on with bulk buying in certain things we want and need - and now we have enough essentials to see us through a couple of months of maybe not being able to source some things or not being able to get deliveries booked ... and they've taken it all back now that Morrisons has just started today with announcing Restrictions and Rationing on Stock again.

I had already guessed that Christmas time would probably trigger off yet more urgent demand and panic-buying online even if most of the Lock-down measures were lifted before December - so I've been planning towards being ready for that as well.

We were caught out the first time around and ended up in struggling some days with no Milk and very limited stocks of Food in the House and having to keep trying to work out how to get things delivered when most local places just shut down instead of offering up any kind of Delivery Service.

Hopefully things will be a lot easier for everyone this time around ... x

Serial Sock Trumpet (serialsocktrumpet) | 1998 comments We won't starve here. I'm getting complaints we can barely even fit a pizza in the freezer, we have one full chest freezer and another 1/2 sized one, both crammed.
Mainly a mix of Pork and Venison, and various plums n berries for wine!

No, Poppet, it is often very quiet on the Forum - but there is usually a small handful of us that still bob in and try to keep the Threads going. I was here first thing this morning but had to go and crash out for a few hours because I was struggling to stay awake.

Any Forum visits from you are always very welcome ones ... x x x

I'm currently in the process of trying to work out how to sort-of 'celebrate' a Wedding Anniversary tomorrow for two Parents who don't want to celebrate it and who aren't talking to each other either! I've been doing this for a few years now so it's sadly all too familiar an experience for me now.

I've already ordered Flowers in and today I decided to try out a well-known Restaurant in Central Manchester that I've found does a Home Service Delivery of pre-prepared Roast Dinner Meals that you simply finish off in the Oven - so I've gone for it and splashed out on giving them a try.

I'm just hoping that they will deliver early enough on tomorrow that we can get to have an earlier, rather than a later, special Meal. M&D will be assuming that we are having a Chinese Takeaway like we usually do - but I want to surprise them this year (and while under this latest depressing Lock-down) with something different and a bit more interesting instead ;o>

Well, to turn it all around in a much more positive way (Suzy-style)... you found the fault! ... well done, Kid! ... and now you get to return it for a Replacement that is fault-free! ... ;o>

We were out all day yesterday, driving back from a walk near Killarney we were all starving. So stopped and ordered curry and burgers and chips for the kids. Great that this place does a good selection of curry dishes and the other takeaway food for kids.

But when we ordered it was a 40 minute wait, next time now I have their number I'll phone ahead. It was a long 40 minutes with 3 hungry kids in the car too, waiting...... :0

I did drive home rather speedily with the food, the aromas upped my speed considerably.

It was worth it, thank god. Great Lamb Balti and a favorite of mine Tarka Dal.

Re the hoover.... maybe I should indeed have sabotaged it, as it is now working again, at least for now. Believe it or not I hoovered up a stray computer mouse wire (yeah I'm thick like that) and it tried to take the lot. After I managed to untangle the wire and free said mouse from the jaws of the beast, the vac was making a funny noise and there was no suction. Reckon it just needed a time-out because it was ok by the time the boss got home. Mouse not in the best shape mind.

I guess they've moved on from Ping Pong balls to Golf balls.

I think it was Electrolux - "Nothing sucks like Electrolux" (and where are they now?). It's mildly interesting that Hoovering became a commonly used verb instead of vaccing or Dysoning (other brands are available).

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments We used to have a 1960's Electrolux that we stored out in the Garage yet still worked! We gave it to a Local Museum that now have it as part of a 'How We Used To Live Through The Decades' Exhibition.

We also have a still working Henry that must be around 25 years now. My Dad continues to refuse to part with it and so my Mum has insisted that it always stays out in the Garage, instead of in the House, as we use it for cleaning up after very messy DIY Jobs.

Gotta admit that I've never given any thought to the fact that I've always referred to vacs as 'Hoovers' when that's really just a brand name. It's always been that way even tho I don't reckon we've had an actual Hoover in the house for many years. Don't remember us having anything else but Hoovers when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s mind.
Weird innit - it's not like we say "Right I'm just gonna sit down and watch the Sony" or whatever when our favourite show's on. Old Hoover had it sussed back in the day... at least in the UK.
