Heya Grizzly, not a bad pun mate..but how about The Disorderly Duke, instead?!

That one rings with my world, despite my best attempts to maintain some semblance of orderlyness, in my life! :)

I'll have you know a lot of thought went into that - another 30 seconds of my life I'll never get back :)

Dare I possibly just add a small note of caution to the idea of maybe reopening up the DND Forum instead of setting up a brand new one? I wasn't going to comment on this but I think that this idea might possibly need thinking some more about?

Only your old Forum was pretty much entirely all of your original Moderator's sole creation and was exclusively set up to her own personal terms and conditions, wasn't it? And it was set up and then deliberately locked down to being a Private Group of only just a small handful of invited Forum Members - and that is how your Moderator also chose to leave it as being when she decided to leave.

I understand from you that she didn't leave under the best of circumstances or even on friendly terms with anyone who was left on there and that she was even responsible for unilaterally deciding to ban quite a few of the original Group Members during her time as your Moderator as well - and so personally I think it might actually be far kinder on her and a much better idea for everyone to just leave the Forum now, as she wanted it to be left, and to make a brand new fresh start elsewhere instead?

I won't pretend either that I don't also have my own much more personal reasons too for thinking this to be the best way forward - as you have asked me if I want to be involved and to help you to set it up - but I know that I would never ever have been made welcome or allowed to become a Member of any Forum set up and run by her and I wouldn't feel right or at all comfortable in coming over to join you and contribute to it if you do manage to get it reopened.

Out of respect and courtesy to myself and out of respect and courtesy to the wishes of your original Moderator I won't ever be joining you by posting on it.

Goodreads will probably try contacting her first off to ask her if she ever intends to return so she will be made aware of what you are trying to do - and she may even decide to return to it and shut the Forum down around you if she has still got her Moderator Status in place and feels strongly enough about it continuing to stay as the Private Group Forum she left it as?

message 5760: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Well, I'm sat here feeling a bit weepy and really sad today ... and I know that it is probably only just me being my usual hyper-sensitive self and getting all over-sentimental over something and nothing, but all the same? ...

Someone (that I thought that I had come to know reasonably well over many years and who I was always extremely fond of) has apparently chosen, at some time over this last week, to not just take some time out but to leave the Group Forum ... and has actually chosen to do so by completing deleting their Goodreads Account?! ;o<

And this, very sadly, means that she has also permanently deleted every single Post that she has contributed to this Forum over the last couple of years - including every Email message that we shared between us as friends as well - and has effectively shut the door for good on us ever being able to make any further contact with each other as we never exchanged personal Email Addresses.

And I just feel at a complete loss to understand why on Earth this has happened? - and as to how she ever came around to thinking that her friends over so many years on the NES Game would somehow not miss her or be left feeling so terribly sad about it - and as to why she didn't even want to say any goodbyes to anyone or to be wished nothing but well by everyone who knows her on here? ;o<

The folk that came over from the old Amazon Forums all share in such a unique and a special history - a wealth of memories and experiences and in-jokes that, well, you really just had to be there to ever get to fully appreciate and understand, didn't you? ... and someone who was a very special, much loved and an essential part of all that has just left without saying a word - wiped all traces off themselves from off this Forum in doing so and then gone closing the Door behind them?

Yeah, I know that most of us really don't 'know' each other in real-life and that Life, the Universe, and Everything and these things just happen ... but still? ... it's just sad and I am sad about it ;o<

And I know that you'll probably never read this but nevertheless ...

Goodbye and I'll miss you, J ... x ... sending you all of my love x and my very best wishes as always ... and I wish you health and happiness in whatever you do and wherever you are ... x x x Suzy x x x

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Right! ... all that said now ... I am going to choose to NOT stay sad anymore!

And I've got some rather amazing and quite wonderful news to share with all of my fellow Nature Lovers on here ... well, it might not be all that amazing and quite wonderful news to anyone else? - but it most certainly is to all of us here ;o>

A couple of months ago, Mum pointed out a Bullfinch in a small Tree quite close to us sat out on the Patio - and since then we have seen it and it's mate too almost every single day. And it's the first time in quite a few years now that anyone we know can remember seeing even just one of such a shy little Bird (never mind two of them together) around in our Back Gardens ;o>

Then, on Sunday, I was just sat out with Mum when, all of sudden, she gasped and whispered ... "look! - in the Birdbath! - it's a Nuthatch!" ... and again, this is also rather a rare and unusual Bird sighting for us in our own Back Garden ;o>

We are also regularly thrilled at being visited by, not just the odd one, but at least several teeny-tiny adorably sweet little Wrens this year as well ;o>

Some Bullfinches ...

A Nuthatch ...

A Wren ...

We do have a Wren frequently bouncing round the garden and hiding in the creeper by the patio door, but never, to the best of my knowledge, any Bullfinches or a Nuthatch.
I haven't seen the Woodpecker either this year.

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments I'm hoping that these sightings are all good signs - rather than worrying ones to with Climate Change or an increasing loss of their more usual Habitats.

Our Back Garden has been teeming with all kinds of things this year.

We have got a very friendly Frog who likes to come out and sit by us ;o>

message 5769: by [deleted user] (new)

Just remembered - we had a Dragonfly flitting around our garden last week. There I am, hands in the sink doing the dishes when a flash of colour caught my eye. It kept zipping all over the place but kept coming back to the middle of the garden as if to say "Look at me - I'm still here!" :)

Heya Sweetie..well.....amazingly, either by coincidence or you really do know Apples/Linda (yes..i'm naming and shaming her publically now..i do not care for her anymore, after this latest surprise); that... well...she's gone and done exactly what you presumed she could do....she's dumped us 3 and shut the fuggin' group down! I logged to goodreads last night, to check the postings in both groups, as i am one to usually do..only to find that there was no sight of DND...it's gone, vanished..into nothingness! No warning, no notification, nada.

So....as it happens...i've enrol myself to a crash course in how to set up new group from scratch..and get it set up....and so...now... "It's ALIVE...it's..........ALIIIIIIVVVEE!"

With no ideas to go on...& given my limited imagination...and the fact i've had to do this very suddenly...it's a very basic and very literal group, in name and in content, at the moment! But......it's up and running folks, & invites have already gone out to some of you, starting with those i think are most likely to be interested. This group however, is completely public...so i think..anybody can just drop in and post something...but i'm not sure how transparent these groups are on Goodreads.

Sorry for the incredibly mundane & literal title..but it's called

The Former Amazon Deals Forum & Ex DND Group, Survivors Group.

Like i said, It is what it is. So it's literal....but i think can change the title later on..once i've recovered poor old Qashy & P...who had probably woken up yesterday, to find that they're now floating about in a vitual nothingness, now that DND has been deleted! And presumably by the founder.

As Suzy predicted, i got reply from tech support yesterday. They said they would contact the founder, to see if she would grant me moderator status, which i wasn't expecting them to do that, but now fully understand the resulting action! Bugger! I was hoping that THEY could do it without asking her permission.....and so, as the sole moderator of DND, i can only conclude..that with no thought or consideration for us three loyal members..she pulled the rug from under us...the spiteful little fu......*ahem* ....cheeky little madam.

Needless to say..any residual affection or respect i had left for Apples, aka Linda...has now been fully exhausted...sod her.

I think, i now do completely understand who Apples/Linda really is like..despite her seemingly sweet persona she used to present herself to other members with. After treating us 3 members with so little consideration, her persona was nothing more than an act, as far as i'm concerned. Not even a notice to inform us that she was going to close her group down......so.... bollocks to her!

Well....i'm now the founder of brand new group...and once i've recovered poor old Qashy & P again, there will be more than one moderator this time..so this doesn't happen again.

So er...yeah..er please do drop by and say hello folks, the place is rough and ready presently..and yet to be finished..and be given it's own identity, so i hope you won't mind all the hammering and banging going on currently, the dust, the strong odour of paint, plus the kitchen & bathroom are yet to be installed, the plaster is still drying off, half the windows still need to be put in, ...and there's only a 2 bar electric fire running currently.....what can i say.....it's a work in progress!

But somebody did bring round a nice juicy ginger & buttercream cake for us to nibble on with our flasks of tea, but now i've said that, there may only be crumbs left by the time we get to it, should a certain cake muching lover of bakery products, get to it first! Somebody stop Suzy!!!!!

Drop in and say hello folks, by all means. There isn't a theme of any sort yet...and only a coupla threads showing..but it's new..and it's ready to be shaped and moulded to whatever folks what it to be. Up until now..it's just been three blokes chatting about daily stuff, on one thread on the other group. There were games on there..but with just us 3 blokes...we kinda stopped playing em, as we could do with some 'new' blood, so to speak.

Right..enuff plugging for now, i think.

I've heard quite a few cuckoos in my neck of the woods, lately. Which given my poor hearing..i'm quite surprised how loud they are. We haven't many proper trees in the grounds of property, bar an Bramble apple tree....so they must be in the Oak trees across the field from us.

They do lovely sound though. :)

Ohhh Poppet, I obviously can't pretend to be at all surprised by what's happened but I am still very disappointed for you all the same. You've now gone and lost all of the Threads that were originally so full of fun and of good times between you all ;o<

I'm not ever going to be trying to defend any of her actions - as she has clearly continued to consistently behave not only extremely bizarrely but also very badly towards just about everyone who has befriended and cared about her on both Amazon and Goodreads - but I do happen to think that, even if it might have only been purely just for possessive or spiteful reasons, her coming back to delete the entire DND Forum now was actually for the best and was the right decision for her to make.

She has chosen to take herself off elsewhere and is no doubt very busy making lots of new friends and with rebuilding and reinventing herself all over again ... and it is more than time now for Q and P, and you, to move on from DND as well - with a much happier and healthier fresh start on a brand new Forum that is all of your own combined creation this time around ;o>

And, of course I'll join you, but I may not be around much for a couple of days as I've got a very busy day on today and tomorrow as well with various Clinic and Hospital Appointments.

I've already been generously given a stone cold Latte fresh from the new Drinks Machine in the Fracture Clinic after the first one came pouring out and went straight down into the Drip Tray because the Cup didn't dispense first ... and I'm still trying to work out whether I am hungry enough yet to dare to risk eating this unlabelled and unidentifiable Canteen Sandwich ;o>

It's got slightly oozing yellow stuff in it that could be either Cheese Spread or possibly Egg Mayo? ... but I'm at a complete loss to work out why on Earth it has bright pink blobs in it as well?! I'm guessing it's Beetroot? - but I can't think why Beetroot would be included unless they have got a surplus stock of it and getting desperate to shift it before the Best Before Date runs out! ;o>

You can have the un-squashed half of it if you want? ... if you can manage to work out how to get all of the 20 odd layers of Cling Film off it first. Blastronaut | 1061 comments When I first joined this forum here on Goodreads, I also joined a couple of others - Horror (big Stephen King fan, me) and another one that may or may not have been Deals or something very similar; my memory fails me a little on this un. Was never a big contributor to Deals on Amazon but did add the odd comment.
Anyway, without getting all sidetracked, as is my wont, I was booted from this Deals-type group within a week, before I'd so much as added a single post! Must say I thought that was bloody charming but suppose folk have the right to who they want in their groups. Would this be the same group yer all speaking of?
Perhaps I'll wait 'till/if I'm asked before I rush to join this new one??

Btw - I've still not put up a single post on Horror.. but do intend to when I got more time. They've still not booted me.

message 5790: by [deleted user] (new)

As I recall, before being unceremoniously ejected from DND myself, there was a series of purges where members who hadn't posted were removed. The explanation given was that some posters weren't who they appeared to be, and were only there to glean information about fellow posters.
You may well have been amongst that number if you were a member of DND.

Hello Blastro.

Yes you were once a member of DND, the forum created from the Amazon Deals UK forum. That has now gone...and i've created a new public one, since DND was locked for the past year. I have sent you an invite.

The DND forum, was never exclusively about Amazon deals, even when wereon Amazon....it's more social...but there are one or two that do talk about shopping related topics.

This new group will be developed to whatever members would like to see in it. There maybe some topics that might not be implemented...but we haven't got to that stage yet.

I've been informed that Anita, Martin and maybe Tech may wish to look in too. I've invited Tech, as he is on my friends list, but i haven't yet worked out how to invite those that aren't. There must be a way!

Oh..by the by, should Gordon reads this post..or anybody else for that matter...just like to point out, that i'm not trying to nick everybody here, over to my group! I still like this one too! :)

If anybody is interested in joining my group, or just want to check it out...please do...and i'll try and work out how to invite you. That said, i believe it is possible to make a request to be a member, somewhere on these groups....i'll try & find out how.
